Put a 3S pack through my TRX4 Sport (full option) in my local woods. Not only is it a good crawler but in Hi gear and 3S it can almost qualify for Big Air!!! When I got back the postman had delivered my 1/16 scale Slash stickers from MCI si fitted them. All in all a happy day.IMG_4299.jpg

Martini-stripe-madness box art? I think I'm going to do another box art one some time. Despite mine being the best shell I've done it still feels like unfinished business to get one just so.

Your first impressions comparing the XV-01 and XV-02 have me wondering whether my XV-02 kit should jump up the queue.

But also your comments on gearbox spacers then got me to @Big Jon's rebuild thread:

where he replaces them with aluminium spacers and steel shims. Same for some suspension spacers. I might do this. Mine is probably due a strip down.

@BuggyDad Yes, doing the Martini box art this time.  And will be driven outdoors.  I am hoping I do not need to glue the tires as I don't feel like buying wheels for the car and just reuse them when the time comes to swap tires.  Will see how they hold up..

Don't listen to what I say as I am posting very late in the game..  these are just my thoughts based on my personal experience.  The XV came out like more than a decade ago (?) it's an old design for 2023, but probably was very cool when they first came out.  Of course the XV02-Pro is better, it came out after all the feedback from the field on various chassis including the XV01.  B)

My biggest annoyance on the XV01 was the overly and unnecessarily complicated assmbly using spacers and shims.  What really topped off my disgust near the end was when my standard JX servo would not fit in the tub.  All these useless shims for what.. lol. I am currently running the low profile JX servo which I don't really like due to slow speed (hardly the 0.07sec or whatever on the label)  which makes it even worse.   And the car does not track straight after right turns due to the factory servo horn.. and turnbuckles super clumsy to adjust as the ball ends are too weak, splash wheel liners get in the way of the adjusters.  etc etc.  just an annoying car overall.  So to fix, I am going to adjust all rods on or off the car and then install a 1251MG and high torque servo saver once I am happy driving the thing outdoors in bigger space.   I will replace it with another XV02-Pro once it breaks and reuse the body.   At least that is the plan for now.

Took this little scamp IMG_4326.jpg   IMG_4327.jpg  IMG_4328.jpg out for its first real outdoor run. It’s a 1/16 scale Traxxas Slash. The body is a clear replacement that I painted and decorated using a set of 1/16 scale stickers for a RedBull trophy truck by MCI . There I said the T word!! But politics aside this thing is just a great little Backpack rocket. It runs on 2S lipo, in fact it holds two so could be wired in parallel or series for different effect. I’m with Traxxas when they say series on Lipo is a no no. That would give you 4S in a chassis no bigger than a Tamiya M chassis. Kevin Talbot country I fear.It runs the same size motor as a full size Slash and believe me it’s got plenty of speed. The downside side to that is the motors up high and due to the chassis’s size the dampers are small which makes it quite twitchy. It also grip rolls like mad on grass. Whilst it may be fine for running in the Mojave desert in the promo films it’s not quite so good for bumpy English countryside walks with stones and tree roots on the trail. Find it some loose stuff though and it romps like puppy dog that hasn’t seen you for hours. If you don’t have a grin on your face there’s something wrong. I bought mine as a NiMh version and upgraded to lipo which brought it up into full size Slash territory. I bought it to compliment my Axial Can Am Maverick and PUBG buggy as holiday cars. Easy to pack and tough.

I found shoe goo strong enough for my motors for rally use - that can just be peeled off. Nowhere near as strong as superglue, obviously, but strong enough is strong enough. 10.5T brushless does want glue, so I guess Superstock might too.

I was lucky in that the SPT servos I have fitted right in, although they too are way slower than the 0.07s Etronix I enjoy in my DT-03. And I used the XV-01 as an exercise in making myself enjoy a slow build over many evenings. Some sort of mindfulness nonsense, so a few spacers weren't going to bother me, but I totally see why they give it either a downmarket or design-compromised feel.

On servos, it was only yesterday (thread I linked to earlier) I clocked the idea of fitting it upright to avoid a debris trap. I like this idea and intend to try it some time.

The printable white vinyl sticker material arrived so did a test print. Looks ok and it's thinner and smoother compared to the paper sticker so I'll use this. ^_^

I think some ppl put 380size brushless so that it has power with less weight on top (well technically mini e revo comes with that)

That kinda makes some sense. It’s not a deal breaker and although I’ve changed all the plugs to non Traxxas I still have the original NiMh that I can run it on. It’s still quite lively on that!!

For me, finished the Delta and posted in the gallery only thread.  Honestly the decals weren't bad at all, came out with zero wrinkles or bubbles.  :D  Was multi-tasking work related calls while I was doing the decals even.  The trick is lots of hope..

Today i bought a rather expensive Air Blower (with some price reduction now):
https://www.komplett.no/product/1189559/datautstyr/kontorutstyr-rekvisita/kontorutstyr/luftvaskrens/iiglo-haandholdt-stoevblaaser

As i each time without exception are are thinking i wish i had something powerful to Air-blow the Rc Car with after a run, also my second hobby is Pc so it will come in handy there several places. One dude that give feedback even use it to clean the lawnmower so it should be strong enough for RcCars

For me, I ordered the Tamiya high torque servo saver yesterday and expecting delivery today.  I am hoping that it will give enough clearance to allow the standard sized JX servo to fit on the XV01..  the standard size servo is still not 0.07 sec or whatever they claim, but faster than their low profile servo.  Will give it one more round of heat on the decals today and then moving it to my garage to join my outdoor Beetle and Scorpion.

Which reminds me, I should work on decorating the RC transport basket for my ebike as I plan on taking the rally car to a large parking lot about 2 miles or so away to drive it.  :D   Enjoy riding ebike, enjoy driving RC car.. win win.. I hope..

That's cool.  On my 1:1 car I use a corded small blower called Metro Sidekick to get water out of the nooks before blot drying.    I only use a brush to clean my RC cars after a drive, or motor spray (CRC MAF cleaner) over my large village trash can to blast oily grime from the nooks.  Just need to be careful to nourish the pieces with lube afterwards as needed.

Some RC Car models i have will need it more than others, hardest spots for me to clean is the j-concept Monster truck wheels and the bath-tub models, my plan is to air blow them first before i bring them in, as i live in a City we do not have a Garage. As this Air blower is cordless i can easy air-blow them off outside. Also my closest outside area is muddy, leavy & dusty (and now apparently pollently as my TT-01 was yellow when i brought it in after last drive).

A morning at the beach at low tide with my lad. Love a beach session, a couple of hours intermittently ragging RCs about, sitting on a towel, reading a book while he builds a sandcastle and then a cafe lunch after. It's been a challenging day, I've had to go home to put my feet up.

Gives me a bit of a beach running RC to do list. Need to glue tyres better, strip and clean motor and maybe sub in a ventless bluebottle for such activities, also found my big wheels bind on the front at full lock, so may flip my steering knuckles.

I'm sitting in my work room right now looking at stupid email exchanges...  quite a contrast from beach day, @BuggyDad!!  Enjoy your day.  :D

My A+ review a few months ago by management at my money making gig translated to a nice pay raise and bonus so more pretendRCshop funding for me.    I was notified yesterday.

I decided I am no longer going to buy something (physically big) I can't take back to Japan.. including new 1:1 hobby cars and expensive furniture.   Going to try to build my dream house in Japan in the next decade.

For me, received the high torque servo saver so swapped it and the servo itself for the added weight to try to offset the left right balance.

The car tracks straight after turns now so I was happy about that.  :D  The servo is kind of slow though.. but it’s fine for the time being.

Once I decide I like the car, I will do something about that motor wire..

Update, test drove the car and passed, so will be moving it to the garage to join my outdoor only cars.  :D   The added neg camber and 2mm spacers on the rear wheels helped tame the rear a little more.   Car looks good, I think.

Installed the rest off the hop-ups, i really liked the Universal Assembly shaft with the smaller joint Cups (so much smoother than dog bone  & big joint cups) , which is another hop-up on the already hoped-up Ball-diff (that included Cup-joints but bigger for dog bones).

So Now i have Ball-Diff in back & front & its running so smooth now.

Solberg means something like SunHill ;)

Hi all, been a little while since I posted, hope everyone is well🙂 I've just been catching up on some of the regular threads, nice work lads, lots of good stuff going on!!

I've had less time for some aspects of RC lately. However, a recent purchase has spurred me on again. So I've started a thread in the builds section and posted a few pics in the gallery thread👍

Nice work @Willy iine, glad to hear the decals didn't cause you much bother.

Congrats on the improvements in your working gig, and you're moving to Japan?😳
