Nice work @Willy iine, glad to hear the decals didn't cause you much bother.

Congrats on the improvements in your working gig, and you're moving to Japan?😳

Thanks!  :D

Yeah, this pm I binded the Delta to my outdoor radio and now resides in my garage.  Will take it out for a spin over the weekend.

I am moving to Japan, but not for a while.  I will live in the US until 2032 or so and move back to my homeland.  My wife and I have been looking at several areas in the northern island (Hokkaido) and mainland to build a house.  I can't stand heat and humidity so need to be in higher elevation or just in the northern part of the country.  I am originally from the Tokyo suburbs, my wife from Nagoya.

Hi all, been a little while since I posted, hope everyone is well🙂 I've just been catching up on some of the regular threads, nice work lads, lots of good stuff going on!!

I've had less time for some aspects of RC lately. However, a recent purchase has spurred me on again. So I've started a thread in the builds section and posted a few pics in the gallery thread👍

Welcome back.. I checked out your new photo in the gallery thread.  WOW!  That is an incredibly nice buggy.   The color. coordination is perfect, CF and nice titanium dampers.  Very well done.  Should share that on Instagram.. you're more than ready to post with the big boys.

That sounds amazing mate, an epic venture, and a wonderful one from the sounds of it👍

Cheers mate. Thanks for the positive comments, it's only round one of mods to that buggy, so will get some more updates up as I make further mods🙂

Welcome back @Kol__,  haven't seen your new car yet but am going to now:lol: Congrats @Willy iine on the Delta, turned out great! Makes me want to drive mine. And about your long terms plans, good for you man, I wish you the best with it and I'm sure you'll be able to follow through. I too hope with all of myself to be able to make it back to my homeland someday:ph34r: so I feel you.

On another note, I've been running the Hornet a lot these daysIMG-20230601-205123-623.webp

You can say without a shadow of a doubt @Ferruz, you have definitely got your money’s worth out of that there Hornet bud  🐝 😎

All the best for the Dream house in the pipeline @Willy iine, a very enviable position to be in, well done 👍🏻 I hope it’s not to far from the Tamiya shop, you might need to let them know in advance your coming so they can stock up 😉

For me today I finally got around to assembling some 53155 Low Friction Dampers that were an add to cart from PJ’s when I got the red Javelin cage.

Really nice to build, and a stand out result was when I’ve  built plastic CVA’s the piston rod always has a bit of rebound when you push it in without the spring. The LFD’s dampers don’t, the piston rod doesn’t push back out without the spring attached.

I also modified the packaging for a handy shock holder…

IMG_5304.md.jpg

Once they were done I installed them on my TA02SW Porsche.

IMG_5306.md.jpg

A quick test run in the driveway proved successful and a very smooth handling car. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another set.

Good to see you back @Kol__ and I am just all over that stunner of a Dyna Storm.

@Willy iine will you build a new purpose-built Pretend RC Shop into your future house in Japan? I dread to think what you'll achieve from a truly blank canvas.

Decided to go down the RTR path because he last time i bought a RTR was about 15+ years ago and that was nitro and so much has changed it’s all mostly brushless and although I’m not a speed freak and all my rc buggies are built as true to the originals as possible with speed never a priority I’m looking forward to seeing what I can get out of this and seeing what it will put up with……….right where’s my nearest disused air field?:)

@BuggyDad

I also like to think that that his Splendid Pretend RC shop would be a perfect Tamiya Tourist Attraction for Tamiya-Club members, and he could put a few Willy iine-RTR for sale, i think i just have a retirement plan ready for him here

So decided to see how fast the TT02R was.

Set up is a 1060 ESC, Superstock RZ motor (23t) and a 2S Lipo. Im running a 22t Pinion.  Im also on Rally Blocks which arent ideal. Because Lancia Delta

Obviously I done the speed run on a smooth car park, not the above gravel......

I also removed the wing because it broke after one roll over.

End result was 25mph

I then spent the next 25 mins hooning about in the gravel and even getting some air time. Motor wasnt too hot after this so Im going to gear up quite a lot (27t) and go again. Then it may be brushless time 🙂

Really enjoyed that peaceful little hoon. Even if I forgot it was half term and the kids were off.....

I love it, there is a "Japanese tuning" looks that is just perfect on that chassis!

For me, I finished the chassis on this resto-build, or perhaps re-build, of a second hand M-05 Ver.II Pro, nicely hopped-up. There is a lot of work remaining but it felt like a small milestone nevertheless.

The most interesting thing for me is that I started my first ever build thread for this project! I am trying to go 'in-depth' so that I have some form of documenting I can look back to in the future :) I have to say, it gave me another level of appreciation for the hard work a lot of TC members are putting into these build threads. It probably takes me about the same time to do the work as it takes to snap pictures and do a write up. But then everything I do seems to be slow, including my driving! :D

A day of taping on my Kyosho Rav4 crawler. The thin white tape is incredible. 99% came out sharp.
I find most success comes if you tape and paint the same day.

Had a bleed or two and noticed some mistakes in my taping, it’ll get sorted out.

That's in a while, but congratulations! I used to live in Nagoya. It was the most amazing experience and one I find myself thinking back all the time. It really gave me a special perspective on the pros and cons of the various countries I have had to live in (currently in the US). In any case, Japan is not a bad country to be in when you love RC 😀

I got the evening for myself today, so I built the Tomahawk back together again. The old bearings in the rear hubs were finished, so new ones had to go in. I also fitted the rear universals I got for it last summer.

Thanks!  And I agree Nagoya is a great place.  You know I never liked my in-laws and looking at them, I initially assumed everyone from Nagoya must be a bunch of butt holes.. but when I met my wife's other relatives in Nagoya during our honeymoon decades ago, dang, they were 150% super cool unlike my in-laws, and food was absolutely great. lol

Yes, my primary goal in Japan is to have a large hobby room like the pretendRCshop and have a spot I can drive my RC cars.  I don't plan on doing any 1:1 car related hobby things, so should be a pretty simple setup with a small lounge to play some tunes (piano) and watch TV.  Maybe visit Shizuoka and Akihabara a few times a year, but mostly will just enjoy my simple life around my simple house in a rural area.  Atleast that is the plan.

I haven’t been on the forum much lately, but I have had an interesting past few weeks..

Im starting a new job Monday in a field related to one of my other , non RC hobbies ( working on old sewing machines )

Well my last week or so I have been taking a couple of sabbatical weeks and living off my accumulated PTO time from my previous job. My wife was also out of state fulfilling a previous commitment. I didn’t spend quality as much time with the RC collection as I though I might with a week or two off, but I did get my workshop and garage squared away and today I took a new step in organizing and displaying some of my buggies

Bonus points for anyone who can ID the buggy under  the FAV and Hornet

I spent about 2 hours putting a sticker on a Fire Dragon, the front sticker goes onto the nose of the body but the body isn't symmetrical, I cut a tiny fraction off the left side of the sticker where the window is and that fixed most of the problem.
All's well that ends well, it looks very good now.

What a looker this car is, it looks a bit ugly when you see the promo pics but to see it in real life changes everything.

Putting my spare vintage SRB parts through the sonic cleaner in readiness of listing them for sale in eBay this weekend.
Oddly satisfying TBH 👍
