First up replaced some shock ends I borrowed off of some nice new Kyosho Equalizer shocks, then fitted some Uni drive shafts to my Frog, then replaced the gear case on my Wild One with new parts, and also fitted the dog bone shafts from my Frog onto the Wild One, replacing the very worn out hex shafts. Oh, also fitted a steel metric pitch pinion onto my MadCap, so quite a successful afternoon doing all those little jobs that always build up.

Took the Scorcher out for a few packs at the local 1/8 buggy track in the rain. The result was a very muddy Scorcher, a muddy 1/1 car and Im still finding mud in my underwear 3 hours later.

unless you are REALLY desperate for a part don't get your hopes up !

Not A part so much as parts in general for my traction control project - more of a pick-n-mix.

Thought I'd have an easy day and give the newly acquired B4 a clean. One half went well but when I got to the rear..

Bent hinge pin that resulted in

Broken wishbone around the hinge pin

Pinion gear grub screw broken off

Broken rear transmission mounting points

CVD axle wheel nut over tightened resulting in seized axle, over heated bearings in the hub (I had to press the axle from the conical washer, bearings and spacer in a vice!)

One rear camber link ball stub held in with RED lock tight ( needing lots of heat to break the adhesive bond and extract the ball stud).

Well these things happen when you buy used, ex racing buggies, but a little disappointing it wasn't ready to go. At least the issues can be fixed for small money and another 3 hours on the bench :(

Depending on how exciting the run was, that might not be mud...

I'll let the photo speak for itself...

You weathered your optima. Amazing paint job. I would just run it on a muddy track to get the same result. :P

Reorganized my stash of RC stuff and managed to remove the extra boxes and car bodies from our master bedroom... I think it's been wearing on my wife for awhile but she's been too kind to say anything. I feel like keeping it all contained in my office and part of a closet honors her desire for a neat home.

Relieved my wallet of £10.71 to HRMC and £8 to parcelforce, all to get my hands on my order from Tower Hobbies. Part of my order was a RC10 Viper body, which is now parcelled up ready to go off to RCS Graphic Worx for painting.

Top job !

Thanks! Only broke one ball cup, too, which is pretty good for this car. It's not the most reliable ship in the fleet.

Well, I've been switching out radio gear again trying to make it all work out. I'd like to say it's finished or it's been easy but that's just not true. I got rid of the Traxxas TQs in favor of the flyskys and the receivers and transmitters have all been good. It's the number of them that's getting to me. I separated Tamiya, Kyosho and AE/ misc. onto separate TXs and somewhere my math went off. The Tamiya and Kyosho ones are full with more Tamiya to go. The third one is more than half full and I'm out of receivers. I thought I had it all worked out to have more than enough and have room for later models.

I don't know how I managed to miscount but I can't make them all fit onto 3 sets and no room for anything else either. This collection is still too big to manage.

I know it's whining but it's driving me crazy.

It's been a really productive day. I found 2 more receivers in a spare parts box and finished the outlaw sprint car and the street devil. I switched out the Deans plug standard size connectors for micro Deans in both the bikes so the lower cowling would fit better. Also made a charging adapter for that type. Put the oval washers in the bikes to keep the gearboxes from slipping again.

Switched out the way to stiff front springs on the newer F201 and finally found the source of those white striped tires. They're Ride hard compounds.

Shoe gooed a RC10 original body back together and made a new wing mount. Put on a new wing and installed the rear body mount with a new post.

Posted another car for sale ad and investigated an interesting group buy I may go for.

Also finished the rear hub replacement on the 959.

I started the day with a lens replacement in my right eye. I've got my depth perception back. ;)

Another really productive day, I sold off two more and gift wrapped the NIB 956 for my nephews coming birthday, so 3 more drop from the list. Ya, I like this nephew that much, even though he totaled the first 956 in 1989. This puts the car count at 38

Ran the daylights out of the Rothmans 956, TFR414 and assault while managing not to break anything. I found a way to make the assault drivable and it worked very well.

I'm not getting out of the hobby or selling out. I've got this group buy coming up and needed the space before I ever thought about going for it.

Lastly, I dropped 15 dollars off the selling price today in trade for another receiver and a FSGT3B transmitter. Not too bad and it fit into the big plan.

Meddled about trying to make a Optima Mid steerign assembly from the parts box with nil success :(

moved onto the Associated B4 rebuild since another load of parts arrived..

- transmission rebuilt and installed in new casing

- new spur installed and slipper pads cleaned up

- new carbon rear arms and hnge pins installed

- new bearing spacers in the rear hubs

- CVDs rebuilt

- turnbuckles reinstalled with new foam dust shields

Aim to have this one running by end of Sunday !

I actually had 3 hours play time all to myself today.

The garage floor is awash with partly disassembled cars, so I put the Xtreme back together and the Blizter.

Very happy, fixed a buddies Brat for him and then I started to reassemble my Scorcher and Ranger.

Fingers crossed for an hour tomorrow to try out my new arrival a second hand nitro Mini.

Well i stripped down the optima down & gave it a very good clean .

Sorted out what was needed & ordered it . Now all i need to do is

decide if i am going to get new body stickers or just keep the one it has .

I need to find the rims & order some tyres , But if i get tyres . I might as well

get a body set as well :D ...

Now did the optima turbo come with a chain & look the same as the optima ?.

I was sure i had a turbo optima & not the optima . Just can't think what one i

back in the 80's . I was sure it had turbo on it , But then again it could have

been put on the the other owner ... Or a body swap with stickers ?.

This is some thing different to play with & restore .

There are a lot of seemingly small detail differences in most of that lineup. You pretty much have to go by the manual to be sure of what was in it originally.

I ran a few today and even managed to fire some BBs at the neighbors. :D

I was looking at bodies today and realized I had the right bodies if I switched the cars they were on. I think these look better like this.

Thank God there's no video from today. I took both bikes and a couple other cars over to a friends to race them. Race is too strong of a word for it. The bikes will get airborne off a 45 degree curb, I hit his bike from every angle including front tire to front tire. I hit almost every car in the area and managed to get tar from a truck tire on the helmet of one rider. I kept trying to get the bike into one of his neighbors yard, but the brick border after the curb and sidewalk was too much. A video of the front endo would have been good, after it went completely over, it landed right side up and kept going until the lower cowl fell off. We did this for a couple hours and I haven't laughed that hard in a while. It was great, everybody ought to have a motorcycle.

I left one of the F201s so he can tune it to taste and we can race them too. Another small racing group of two got started today. What a great time

I took the plunge on a group buy. There are a total of 7 chassis, with 4 pretty much ready to go.

5 brand new bodies and the boxes for 6 of the 7.

DSCN0280.jpg

the 4 together chassis and 3 apart with the car turntable stand and nitro starter box.

DSCN0281.jpg

TXs, RXs, batteries, ESCs and assorted electronics

DSCN0283.jpg

I was worried about tires and wheels for all of them but these were included

DSCN0284.jpg

more truck tires and wheels, truck chassis parts and assorted paints

DSCN0285.jpg

Enough tools and small parts to drive me crazy.

DSCN0286.jpg

The manuals for everything are there plus more parts, pages of decals and a dozen flat style racing markers. The little wrenches in the middle are too much.

DSCN0287.jpgt

It all barely fit in the car with the 3 cases and the 2 big totes. Not exactly a small buy but it'll keep me entertained for a while just figuring out what's what.
