Today I have mostly been making home made masking for my txt 1 tribute to the cosworth pilot rally car. Hopefully get the yellow down this weekend! Do most people cut the body first or last? I usually cut first but have seen it the other way round on YouTube.

I’ve had this spare shell for almost 20 years so about time I did something with it!

I did the same thing. Not sure if I like Threads yet.

So, just an update.. I was kinda watching other members and it seems Threads is more a random thoughts platform.. well, for most folks, I suppose.   I thought Instagram was the easy and light version of these discussion forums, but Threads is even lighter.. so I just post whored a few RC posts today.. just out of random as other folks are doing.

I tell you man, there is no sense of formality or format or anything.. this is why some folks have a hard time understanding what we're supposed to do there because I'm from the era where we document things.  Like starting with the objective and purpose and all..  not just stating bits and pieces of something without any sense of organization.

I think you and I have a very similar mindset. It's very difficult to just post whatever comes to mind.

It takes me back to being in school. A teacher would say "write an essay about any topic of your choice." I need direction and purpose for writing.

I may use Threads for the random pictures that don't fit a theme, or that I don't feel are good enough for Instagram.

For me, yesterday afternoon decided to paint the original polycarbonate driver body and shall finish later this morning.. after my 1:1 STI weekend drive.  I decided to go a tad lighter in color for the suit.

I plan to start the chassis later today.  B)

Did some run this morning indoor at the club nearby. 1 pack passed with  the M05, and I damaged the printed body mount. Need to reprint some or find better solution...
Back home I finalized the design for the Marui 2WD transmission (it will be a strong one) :-)
WIth teh Super Wheelie, I got a working 2.4G small remote with a RX. I swap the RX in the Hornet, and will give it a go as spare ride we can hand to some kids around to play when we are around playing with rc cars at vintage event. Hornet and Hoppers are always good and funny to run, and it could be a good start for kids to play with (as matter of fact, I don't use the car anyore, as I prefer the Lunchbox for the same type of usage)...

After way too many years of sitting around looking pitiful, I finally put some real time in my Hilux.

Replaced all the self-tapping screws with titanium machine screws on the Fazer today.

Dont think Ive ever paid too much attention to these before as always assumed that as its Kyosho typical RTR chassis it would be their version of a TT02 but that really looks pretty impressive. Are the shocks and alloy uprights Kyosho parts or by someone else?

The shocks are the same ones that came with the car and still stock.  The uprights are the factory options from Kyosho.  Only part that I ended up changing that wasn't Kyosho was the titanium center driveshaft.  I previously had the steel center shaft cups and aluminum center driveshaft option from Kyosho but there was still some flex in it.  When I compared it to the Tamiya Hop-Up in my TT-02 it bothered me lol, so I ended up swapping it for that solid piece that runs straight into ring gears.

After some chores I got some time and  fitted the wide axles and hexes asap zulu pulu. I gotta say I like the stance. This is one hole lower on the bodyposts all round. On a 1:1 you would never had such a brutal toe in at the rear,  but well; it's an RC. The motor is getting the occational machineoil for the bushings ATM, so testing will have to wait

Just have to ask you since my search-fu isn't up to it ... what parts are needed to fill those wide arches? I really like the colour and stance of yours (the little mouse that roared, sort of), and have been thinking I might at least try one on-road car, just to see if it is anything for me. Being a RWD buggy dude I am still on the fence. :)

I know Im supposed to be on a break from the Hobby, but Id had a fair few parcels delivered Id not even looked at so I decided to spend an hour or so today.

A while back I bought a TL-01 TOMs Supra in terrible condition. But it ticked the box of my Gran Turismo 3 project. Within a few days, I found an even better condition TL-01 TOMs Supra, so I bought that too. It was then I realised that what I REALLY wanted was a TA-02W with a Supra GT Shell..... which is impossibly expensive. My fault entirely, but to make the best of a bad situation, I ordered 2 sets of FRONT Normal 2 Piece wheels. This mean I could at least get the wheels kinds right. There rears wouldnt fit great on a TL-01 with a 10mm offset, so I decided to order 2 sets of fronts, build a pair at +4mm Offset and a pair at +2mm offset for the front. All these came but as I say I didnt even open it.

Built up to 4mm.

Replacing the old faded single piece wheels.

In order to gain a bit more offset, I used some Tamiya Wheel Spacers I randomly ordered with a Plaza Japan order.

Its nowhere near great but Im quite happy with the rear at least. Its only a shelfer but Ive left some space on the now cut down body posts to higher it should I choose to run it.

The front arch is cut out very big, maybe its meant to be like that but Ive struggled to get that to sit right but overall Im very pleased. Now for a break from RC!

Went to a set of Tennis courts (public) that are kept in really good condition. I had kinda forgotten them even though they are as close to my house as the scabby ones I’ve been using. Anyway this is a tale of 2 TT02’s!!!IMG_0026.jpg
IMG_0027.jpg
IMG_0028.jpg

first is a TT02B in Road going spec( although it’ll still do grass) with full turnbuckles, front cv’s , a torque tuned motor on 2s. It drives beautifully, it’s really smooth and has enough pace to be fun. I could imagine with the tyres glued on it could be quite a good postal racer in the right hands. The other is a TT02S with front cv’s 10.5t bluebottle motor, hobbywing esc , semi drift tyres ( which are glued on) and a high speed gear set with non Tamiya gears with an FDR of around 4.5 if I remember correctly. What a bullet!! This is the first time I’ve managed really to run this in anger. I lacks some grip so is a handful but it does the most amazing spot spins!!! Quite interesting to be able to have what is basically the same chassis be so different.

Thanks for the comment:)

Rear axles are 50808 and hexes are 54610. Front hexes are normal bread and butter clamp type  5,5 mm.

The color is Park Green BTW. Sort of a hommage to the legendary Rheila GolfB). I love Golf MK1 (it's THE car for me) and I like underdogs.

Did you make the center shaft or does someone sell them?  Looks great!

I like the 2 piece wheels. An unsolicited tip :) is to paint the chrome colored inside of the rim flat black so that it doesn't show through the white spokes 👍

I certainly don't have the skills to make something like this .  I got it from KaniZRC through Instagram, but you can reach out to him via kanizrc206@gmail.com as well.  Its a really solid piece compared to the factory option and it eliminates all the flex from that shaft.

I was thinking when I building them up, Tamiya havent done a great job of hiding the inside of the rim have they?!

@morrisey0 Really cool. Is there a thread for this project? I spent 6 months building a series 2/3 88” in 3D to learn the software. I built every bolt and surface within reasonable visual accuracy from photographs. Have thoughts of making it a rc eventually. Maybe with the Boomracing 88” when it’s released.

Mindfully applying masks and tapes to a rather difficult and detailed two parts. Will make or break the final look.
