Well I'm no pro driver but honestly, I've never destroyed a servo in a crash. The only servo saver I'm currently using is the one for my WO because it requires to, as two direct steering links are connected to it.

Other than that, I hate using servo savers. It ruins the servo's performance especially for high speed ones.

Finished stickering up the GT3. Far from perfect but its a stunning shell. Id recommend painting the black bits on the bumper and side skirts with PS5 (instructions only tell you to paint the rear diffuser and engine cover black, and use stickers for the rest). 
 

The wheels look a little lost, I think it should have the Wide Rear axles, but they werent included on my C Parts tree? If I buy a spare C Parts tree it looks like theyre included though?  Any ideas?

Its not as bad as this pic shows but I definately want better wheels

Nothing exciting yet for me today.. assembled my shelf for closet.  This closet is quite big and can easily fit another 30+ cars if needed.  This means I can rotate my display cars in my pretendRCshop to refresh from time to time.

Should be getting my Mini-Z buggy soon.. (Inferno)

Kogawa-san mentioned on his Story on Instagram that he completed his business trip to Taiwan today, and to please look forward to a 60th Annivarsary release coming soon.  I wonder what car that is.      

 

 

 

UPDATE:  I got my Mini-Z Inferno MP9.      Took it out for a test drive in my pretend pylon test course .. Nice car.

Desperately trying to find some 4" or so body mounts for my Golf.  Instead of using the rear body mounts, I'm trying to find some mounts I can do inside the body shell/driver's area so I can do stealth mounts all around.

I ordered some 3" and to my shock they weren't long enough to go from the pan to the roof.

If you look in front of the rear tire there's 2 holes that are good candidates to put mounts on.

I tried these and they're about an inch short.

Nothing much update except for the panel lines I applied today on this body which I painted four years ago. Now looks better.

After a brief hiatus, we took two out. Didnt want to go crazy so just blasted around a quiet grass patch local to us. I chose the XRT and my girlfriend chose the Sledge.

 

Perfect 2 car bash garage really. Could happily live with my Tamiya's, the TRX4 and these pair. I have another 10 or so "similar" Traxxas models so could potentially sell these, buy a few dream Tamiya's and pocket a bit of cash....Hmmm

For me, besides driving my 1:1 Golf-R for a nice weekend drive, I received my other snake plant to place in my pretend pylon test course for decore, drove (played) the actual Mario Kart simulation game with my wife in her manga library (her huge Sony TV with Bose sound system is absolutely awesome) , then drove my Mini-Z 4x4 a little bit before heading to my basement workshop to make the outer trim for the Kyosho crawler terrain.  

I decided to use 4 tiles and make an outside wooden border to keep the 4 tiles together.  I glued 4 corners today so will let the glue dry over night before continuing on tomorrow to make the side pieces which I plan to make them slightly adjustable so that I can change the tile layout without worrying about the tile's dimensional tolerance.  Will make a small bridge and stuff next week.

Lots more work on the Hilux today.  Chassis should be finished up pretty quick.  Body is a whole 'nother project in itself!  Yes, I know the steering linkage / horn is opposite of the manual, but it was the way that worked best for me.

Not sure what type of stealth mounts you are looking to do, but I use RJ Speed body posts on most of my older cars.  They make 4" versions.  4" RJ Speed Posts

Yesterday afternoon I paid a visit to an almost-local hobby shop, hoping to find a new servo saver for my vintage Big Boss.

The last one I had installed worked great for a few years, but lately it was starting to have some play. That was spoiling the relatively sharp steering of the truck, a characteristic that I really enjoy when driving it, so a replacement was needed asap.

The closest thing I could find was this...

Not ideal, but something I could probably still work with, so for just 10 $ I thought might as well give it a try, at worst I'll just have some fun tinkering.

While opening up the chassis tub, it occurred to me that my vintage Kyosho already had some ARrma Bro entrails 😅

Doesn't bother me anyway, that ESC has been great so far.

So, after a lot of tinkering and trial and error with the servo mounts position, I was able to find a good setup that could work with this new, beefy servo saver.

 

-While wrenching, I noticed I'd been lucky enough to have some discreet company 🦌- super cool!! A doe with her two little ones

Anyway back to the Arrma part. Last thing to do was to devise a servo horn that could properly reach the steering rack system from the new position, which is now a little further back than before, given the bigger size of the new piece. A long M3 screw mounted in reverse through both holes and secured with two nuts proved to be just perfect. I only had to make it slightly larger to fit in the rack without play. Used some electrical tape for that, as I like that fact that it offers some padding between screw and plastic. Here it is all done

I then took the truck for a quick test drive before putting it all back together. It felt a bit like I was dealing with a headless horseman, you know, driving around without a shell and chassis cover at dusk  But the steering was by then all nice and sharp, which made me a happy Ichabod!

Planning on driving it more today.

For me, after taking my 1:1 out for a nice weekend drive, I drove both my Beetle and Scorpion outside my house.  Had a good time.

I think next time around, I am going to run med compound (rears) for my outdoor cars in the summer time as the kit tires (soft compound) are a bit too soft in the hot sun.. too much squirm.  Besides that, cars drove great.   

I had to do some minor lawn work to touch up on some areas that needed more grasss seeds from the new storm pipe I had my contractor install underground the other week.  We got near 4 inches of rain within like 2.5hours the other day and the new drainage was working perfectly.   I was very happy about that.  The new stonewall in the backyard also prevented standing water in the middle of the yard so I was happy about that as well.     I think my house is now 2023 rain (weather) ready.

After a quick break, going go head down to my basement work shop to finish up the wooden border I am making for my Mini-Z 4x4 terrain.

Thanks Toyolien , yep it's all painted the black around the red is paint. The one at the top around the back was a quite pain to get into.

If you know how to model cad you can make a model of what the body posts will look like and label dimensions.Im sure theres services on the internet were they can 3d print stuff for you.(Kind of like sendcutsend but for 3d printing)

May I ask your technique? Do you do the black lines first? My pet hate with rally bodies is the black line decals that Tamiya provide peel off or lift up very quickly...

I did 

• Main black areas first (window surrounds, bump bars, those bits at the front lower down)
• Thin masking line tape around the outline of the red areas
• Masked off the white
• Painted the red
• Removed the white masking (but not the thin line tape) , painted white and backed the red with white
• Removed the thin tape, backed everything with black

A surprising amount of masking for a simple colour scheme.

They look so cool I’ve just bought my first traxxas (wide maxx) and what an absolute blast I’m having with it I’ve learned more about lipo batteries and brushless motors in the last few weeks than I have ever done since they became mainstream! And what’s a good charger and telemetry etc etc it’s opened a whole new world for me and I’m loving it! I wouldn’t be selling those two beauties anytime soon!
