The one I got is also 1/16.  I'm currently looking for small scale cars with variable steering/throttle (proportional) to zip around my pretend pylon test course.   :D

For me, a bit wet outside to take my 1:1 car out for a spin, so I think I am going to continue working on the F104 today..  mainly the wing/body and do some initial brush painting before spraying later in the week.

Ah, OK. It looks like a fun little bit of kit and a bargain at $35. Enjoy!

As a reaction to the thread about driving your buggys too seldom (and I surely do, due to heavy fokus on postal racing and that I prefer M-Chassis in the summer) I took the kids with me, made up a random track at a gravel fotball pitch and had a good time.

This was the first time I drove the Tomahawk after I rebuilt the drivetrain and that thing is immensely fun. It's fascinating how precise it is on loose surface with mini spikes up front. Almost feels like a well set up Escort MK2 in the 1:1 world, to make a comparason.

Put this together last night. FJ45 prerunner. Tl01 arms for much better articulation and track width. Going for a 21T motor for some good speed.

Took the Frog out for some off-roading, everything held up until the rear dogbone fell out again somehow.

Thanks, my little "cheat" to film action shots is to use the video setting on my camera, then crop the photo. It harms the quality but keeps the file size small.

Dusted off the Bullhead tribute I started a while back and made a little more progress:

53099046359_4bc7d38779_b.jpg

This is a (slightly hacked) GF01 chassis with an old Radio Shack body (below) and some added ‘chrome’ parts from the Konghead.

Can’t decide if I want to get some scaled decals from MCI or just have it as is. I will probably dye the rims yellow to match the Jr. Version rather than investing in ‘chrome’ rims.

Looks fantastic! Personally I really like the white wheels.

That looks awesome. I would put some stickers on it but would not go 'all-in'. I think chrome wheels would look great.

Thanks both. But now I have a wheel problem! Yellow. White or silver!!!! 😂

As for stickers, I reckon I will try and cut some flames from vinyl and see how it looks. I also need to add a flag but I guess I should go with Australian rather than US!

I am ready to spray the F104 body, but I had to do some honey-do repairs in the mudroom floor trim this morning where I needed to use glue instead of nail to fix, so I need to wait for that to dry before I can set up my junk ghetto paint booth.

I suppose I could spray in the screened patio, but don't feel like bringing everything just to paint that little body.. it has a fin at the top where I know for certain spray will not reach, so I need to decant into one of the 40+ empty Spektrum receiver bubble packs I have laying around and brush paint the area first..  wish me hope please..

Just found out on a whim that the ABS Beetle body is a close fit on an Axial SMT10 chassis. With a bit of trimming in a few places on the body and chassis it could be a nice pairing. Might have to invest in another body now.

If the Tamiya ABS one fits, so will the Kamtec polycarbonate one. Possibly a lighter and more robust choice for a MT?

Looks great so far! Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

As for the fin, spray seemed to get in there okay on the two that I did:

So I sprayed the F104 body and the driver helmet.   The helmet I used my usual TS leaf silver and the body I used a combination of PS anodized aluminum, TS leaf silver (by mistake), then PS silver.  LOL.     oops.

I knew this was going to happen because I am dumb and clumsy..and it did, without fail.   B)

99.2% I think it will be fine given I gave it a pretty decent translucent coat of PS anodized aluminum before I accidentally applied the TS.  I've successfully painted TS over PS on polycarbonate in the past without any cracking or peeling, so..  with hope I should be okay.

That looks great. I’ve been trying to find a F104 for months now but it’s proving elusive.

The Egress chassis is finished but I didn’t get chance start on the bodywork as work is back in the way.

Following on from an earlier post in this thread (A Tale of Two Skylines), I made a decision...to sell the finished vintage 50430 body set (now sold) and keep the other one that I had drilled for the Surikarn body posts on my TB Evo III bits-a-build. It is such a specific set up that I was unlikely to be able to sell it and there was no way I could just chuck it out, so I kind of had to make the best of it.

This meant I needed to find suitable 24mm rims for the Evo III and in the end (at least for now) I have settled on these 47302 5-spoke white rims with pre-glued tyres

spacer.png

They're not the worst match in the world for the R32 Gr.A in the short-medium term. I know there are some vintage Cross rims that will be perfect but having missed out on a set I need to wait for another to appear on the Japanese auctions

But these look pretty good, particularly when placed side by side with my Calsonic R34 which I also just finished stickering over the weekend. Sitting on its correct 6-spoke white rims, the two make a pretty good looking pair I think

Very nice Matthew

I have a Calsonic r33 body which I think is the 58314 supplied. Looks very much like yours but with different wheels 🤔
