For me, maintenance charged my spare NiMH batteries for my 4PKS-R (7PX-R).   I want to make sure they have some charge at all times while in storage.   Besides that, ordered some paint and masking tape refills from my local supplier.  B)

Not much RC action this week as I am concentrating on my 1:1 cars and getting some larger old electronic stuff ready for our village recycling event coming up next weekend.  I thought I'd run my old PowerMac, iMac, and Classic2's to make a mini museum for my music gear, but I don't feel that is happening any more so will destroy the HD"s and recycle them.  I have this professional grade AD/DA converter from Yamaha for my DAW (eMagic) too.. in today's money it was like $6K.  These days similar spec converters can be had for like $100.    it's ridiculous how technology evolved.  eMagic was the creator of LogicAudio before Apple bought it decades ago.  I was actually one of the early users of that software along with Steinberg's CubaseAudio and did beta trials for them back in the mid 1990's along with other musicians.  I will take pictures before they are destroyed. B)

got the print on my shed wall finished. Some benches will end up being I front of this, so its going to be obscured a little and one of the reasons I don't go for a battle scene or something more epic.  Also most of the electrical work is done, just needs lights and the power connected, which should be next week.

That’s brilliant @yogi-bear you truly are smarter than the average bear ;)

I had my medical in the city today so while I was there I swing by the hobby shop and picked-up some paints for my Lunchbox build and another project.

Got home and found a Lunchbox Jr. waiting for me:

I now have the full size (1/12), mini (1/24) and Jr. (1/32) And also a radio shack van that will be around 1/14-1/16 scale. So at some stage I will have a fun foursome!

And then I had some time to start putting together my WW build.

It’s been on my wanted list for a long time and have to say it’s a lovely thing to build due to all the body parts that need painting etc.

That looks fantastic @yogi-bear!! B)

Nothing elaborate like yours, but I got a large 5 pcs print of a LeMans car for my pretend pylon test course the other day.   Really adds to the mood.  :D

For me, FedEx shows my wheelset for my 1:1 STI is out for delivery so looking forward to that today.  B)  I got a new wheel dolly for my stockers while they come off during the winter.   Photos on Instagram #pretendRCshop

New tires (old ones were dry), motor, and freshened up shock oil. Now I just need time and some road chalk.

Next in line is getting the Frog sorted out for a more "rally" themed track, and a more "proper" off-roader. That will be revealed in time.

Today I've been doing some upgrades and fixes on my Plasma Edge 2. @_Ben_ kindly donated some stickers so I could put them on my new wing after my son broke the last one. Also upgraded the servo to an Etronix Low Profile (seems a very high quality one), upgraded to CF shock mounts to increase ride height and changed the shock oil to 800 CST . The suspension is a lot better now and shouldn't bottom out so easily. Looking forward to testing it on Friday.

Finishing up my Comical FX-10.  I am having difficulty with the body at this point, but am working through it slowly.  I am recycling an old body in an effort to keep this a $0 build.  Hope to get it all worked out in the next few days, or it will be thrown on the shelf and never really done.

Wow, I am assuming this is some sort of landscaping decore?  B)

For me, got my winter wheel set for my 1:1 WRX STI, cleaned it up, adjusted PSI.  I found a 12mm mount mark on one of the wheels which was not surprising to see considering how degraded the service industry has become in the USA most-likely caused by over compensated D&I implementation.  I was saddened because I bought the set from my usual trusted big name wheel/tire store who has never shipped me wheels with mount marks through the decades... but it did come from a location I didn't even know they had, so perhaps that particular location sucks.

I suppose I could return it and get a replacement, but there is no guarantee the replacement is going to arrive without mount marks so I decided to spend an hour just Tamiya puttying it and painted it.     I posted a few pictures on instagram Stories if anyone is interested in seeing the fail and fix  #pretendRCshop   it looks pretty good, I think.

I also tested the TPMS inside the wheels with my new ATEQ tool and everything checked out.  I plan to swap the wheel set maybe this coming weekend and take it out for a test drive.  It's running my favorite all season tires DWS06+, so I can drive it all year long if I choose..

Are you planning on picking up one of those 3d printed/printable "kits" to convert the lunchbox jr into a "real" r/c truck?

Oh dear God, there's a way to make mini 4x4s into RC?!? I may never financially recover from this . . .

Edit to add: For the love of God, why . . . WHY did I search YT for the videos . . . must . . .resist!

I did see a couple of YT videos about that. I could be tempted ;)

A few days ago I picked up a cheap Cricut machine. I thought it would be good for decals and masking, plus the kids will probably make good use of it.

Anyway, my first attempt with it was to create something or my BullHead tribute. Pretty happy with it. I created the 'artwork' in illustrator and then exported it to the Cricut software. After a little experimentation I had vinyl flames!

Also, I passed my Australian Citizenship test last week so thought a change of flags was in order ;)

For me, I think I am going to assemble the Super Mini CVA's to prepare for the MB01 build.  I dread assembling diffs and dampers these days, so I want to get this out of the way.  :D    The kit itself hasn't reached the USA yet so no rush.

I saw that Kogawa-san and JJ finished filming their video of the WC JJ Ultima yesterday on Instagram.  Hopefully the clip will be edited and released to the public soon.  B)

Besides the MB01 and JJ WC Ultima, not sure what else I want to build this winter..  if Kyosho America can get more Tomahawks back in stock, I would like to build another one with a metallic blue body..  and another Javelin for outdoor use.. but perhaps I will migrate over to the TRX4's and make a well equipped Defender in preparation for next year..

I must have missed that you had ordered an MB-01. I’m looking forward to seeing the build! Will there be a fleet of them like your Minis?…

Reckon you will get there before me with the MB-01 @Willy iine as Jr decided to spend time on our painting hobby rather than build the car :(. A shame as I thought he'd enjoy building one from scratch for once rather than tearing down a grimy 2nd hander. Maybe next week...

On the upside, any time with him is good time :D

I know the feeling..  I tried RC with both my boys early on and neither caught on.. well maybe you still have a chance with yours, but mine are pretty grown up now and they have their own hobbies so it is an absolute no-go for me.  It's just part of life, part of being a dad, I guess..  they are so different from me sometimes I am reminded of the song  "Things that make you go hummmm..."   ;)

@GeeWings Yeah, I bought one locally about 2 weeks ago, but then their online inventory status was incorrect so I decided to order another one from another store in Asia.  I may end up with 2 cars as my first store still has not confirmed the cancellation officially.. not sure..but it's okay, I am sure I will like the car.  I do not plan to build so many MB01's.. I think it will be like my M06 Beetle.. build one car as nicely as possible and just cherish it.

The reason why I have so many MiniCoopers is because they all run different chassis.. the body is the constant and wanted to enjoy the different driving dynamics of each of the chassis... however, I don't do much driving these days so I don't think I need so many chassis. :D

Following on from this earlier post about the dilemma of finding the right 24mm rims for my Calsonic Skyline TB Evo III...

Found 'em!

spacer.png

In the end I didn't even need to wait for them to pop up on Japanese Yahoo, I found them in a hobby shop in HK

spacer.png

spacer.png

They're close enough to the right design, certainly closer than anything Tamiya offers at 24mm. Next step...a coat of TS-26 to brighten them up and then some slow and patient work with a chrome pen to add a bit of detailing to the barrel and 'nuts'

Awesome, they look far better.

Not saying you should do this (but you should totally do this) on the race car they ran red centre locks on one side and blue on the other... I think red went on the right hand side (which is wrong from an aviation perspective!)

Some Bridgestone Potenza decals will set that off...

Drinking coffee outside and watching the kid repairing his small buggy - "No-no, dad, I'll fix that, it's my car". :)

He's just 7, but has already figured out how to back out pins in the front link arms, by way of youtube repair videos ...

Well, you need at least one more, a FWD with the Mini Cooper body, eh? ;)

I hear ya!

I've got the wheel nuts in red and blue, and have got the tyre stickers too but not sure they'll fit. I would love to, but I haven't had much luck getting stickers to fit 24mm tyres. The profile is that bit lower than 26mm tyres and there doesn't seem to be enough room

Of course, I could just be doing it wrong 😬
