Good luck! What shop was it?

Redfin Models in Baldock.

Walking distance. But not when you've got to carry a box that big

The owner helped me out by putting the retail packaging in their cardboard recycling. Now I just have an ominous grey polystyrene box in the boot of my car

Today i had an unexpected "RC" experience.

I found a dusty wltoys 12427, its controller, charger and battery sitting next to the household garbage collection and decided to take it home.

Started with checking the battery and it is stone dead, which makes me think it is the reason the car was thrown out as the car itself doesnt hardly have a scratch on it, there are two tiny ones on the underside of the chassi, the tires have no discernible wear and the light bars, highest parts on the the body shell are completely unmarked.

I took the shell off to have a look at the electronics and it is the version with an AIO ESC/RX combo with a five wire servo, not to look a gift car in the chassi but im sure most would prefer a regular 3 wire servo as well as separate ESC/RX.

Anyways, im going to see if i can power it on and give it a function test, if the electronics dont work it should be simple enough to just replace them and use my Flysky radio.

So what to do with this?

Well, looking back at my past projects it seems obvious that is going to become yet another beetle, but as this is a pretty bash friendly chassi i would like to put a vacuformed shell on it for the light weight and durability.

That means the issue is finding one, I know Kamtec makes really nice ones and while an option, i would prefer to shop within the EU, no extra tariffs on imports.

Does anyone know a place, within the EU (excluding post brexit UK) that sells lexan, or other vacuformed, Sand Scorcher like shells (and ships to Sweden)?

For me, I finished cutting and painting the MX5 body (ND).  I test drove the car on the MB01 before paint to make sure nothing rubbed.   Passed test drive and while the turn radius isn't great the car is fine to drive.  It's nothing spectacular and shouldn't be as it's a cheap entry level kit, I suppose.

I noticed the M05 Pro (was it?) wheels make the car look like a donkey (stupid and slow.. like me I guess ) so scrapped them and now running proper JDM style wheels at my usual low ride height.  B)

I've been glancing at the car trying to image-audition the type of livery I will do... or won't do..  I am considering making a GT wing for it too to give it more edge as it looks too tame, rounded, and slow.  I guess the goal could be that once I have everything set up. I too will get a M08R like everyone else and run the setup on that chassis.

The M08R can be set up 225mm, correct?

Yes it can 👍🏻 (210mm, 225mm & 239mm)

One of the things I enjoy about my M08 is the tight tuning circle 😁  it just about spins around in its own length at 210mm. So hearing that the new MB’s don’t so much I’ll probably give them a skip.

Its a shame the M07 can’t be set at 210mm, only 225mm,  239mm.

I decided to stop babying the Blitzer Beetle's pin-spike tires and run it on a deserted road.

With a stock 540 it's easily the fastest and most maneuverable Tamiya I've owned, it can spin around 180 degrees almost on a dime at half speed.

Fixed the rear end and wing to the main body. Applied decals to the rear. I use a combination of double sided tape and hot glue to fix the body parts together.

Getting close to finishing, it’s by far the most unique build I’ve done to date. It’s not perfect of course.

I’m imagining something rolling through the auction block or transiting through a  village between stages hence the turn signals. Did another LED test, very pleased with the result. Hard to capture pretty media of the LEDs but here they are.

Winston Weed Head pulled up to the shop with his Tamiya Street Scorcher for a few upgrades, brake disk, new wheels and a wax job. We will test out the new motor this weekend. I think he likes it so far!spacer.png

@technics nice work!  For a minute I thought I was looking at a real tail of a car.  :D

Nice job on the Beetle, @2Dover3D.      Which reminds me.. sigh.. I've not started my street version SS.     Been side tracked by Kowaga-san's Kyosho Beetles this Spring/Summer, then Mini-Z's and etc etc..  not that I have any regrets, but I do need to get that body painted before winter as I cannot spray TS without lint in the dry winter air.

Paint and stickers for the C11

Very nice!, but with that ride hight even that asphalt made me clinch a bit considering how good it looks also.

Can you find smooth enough asphalt for it?

Thanks!

The asphalt is smooth enough, but I need to sweep it before running anything this low as even the tiniest stone or bit of detritus is enough to make horrible scraping noises under the car.

I swept a small area for a brief test run to set the trims, but will need to sweep a far bigger one for a proper test as the car covers ground at an astonishing pace!

Thanks!  Yeah, I was a bit skeptical painting it silver per box art, but once I finished I was confident I made the right choice for that particular car.

Did you know HobbyTownUSA is using my instagram pictures of my F104 for their promo?  :D    They asked me and a couple of other guys I know on instagram before sharing our posts.  Pretty cool of them.

Yesterday I took the XV-01 to the track. What a blast it was to drive with the Tamiya 10.5 BL motor. My buddy also with an XV-01 with a Sport Tuned motor , couldn’t believe the speed difference. So today I decided to do some maintenance. Took the front gearbox apart to check the condition of the pin slot in the idler gear. Sure enough, it looks fine. Re-greased the gears with ceramic grease and put everything back together. Will try it soon on a new outdoor off-road track that just opened
