11pm Sunday night, took the day off work tomorrow (as I do every year when its my bday), and relax with a cold one (or six), some pleasing ear candy, and a nice enjoyable quality Tamiya build :)

F104W Berman? Which body does it have? Happy birthday and enjoy the cold ones!!

Arnies got a new driver, fitted a whippy Heng Long aerial to the chassis and then went on a garden safari :)

I really should collect all this together in a build thread!

Yes Sir, my first foray into F1. It's the MP4/6. Would have got a nicer chassis but wanted this livery. Thanking you kindly, and very much appreciated :)

Not a bad build , i didn't like the handling of the f104 & would pick the F103 anyday . But that is just me & may get my f104 & get it another go one day .

Happy birthday & looks like it's a great B/D anyway with Tamiya :D ..

The F104W is quite capable with the right settings and tyres. I won a few rounds at last years Tamiya Cup and Ride Cup with a F104W. I never liked foam tyres on F1's as they arent really realistic.

Some set up tips for the F104W:

Ride R1 tyres

Remove the centre friction damper

Keep the diff clean and greased and adjust so that you can just about turn 1 wheel whilst holding the other wheel and spur gear at the same time.

If the car is understeering, raise the rear ride height, oversteering then reduce the rear ride height.

Gold or silver front springs and be sure to grease the front kingpin to give some damping.

Experiment with different shock oil and grease on the friction plate.

Try to tighten/ loosen the roll screw for different handing characteristics.

If I can help in any way, feel free to ask.

Tonight I washed, cut and painted the CLK DTM body that arrived this morning. Decals tomorrow with luck.

Well i have about 65% of the decals done - after 3 hours !

Quite possibly the worst model for decals EVER

Despite the pain I have to say it does look great so far :)

Took this out; it's based on a Blackfoot Xtreme but I used the bodyshell for something else. The body is the HPI one I picked up for £12 recently (inc postage) and whilst its very thin lexan it holds up pretty well. I ******* up the body post holes a bit because the posts themselves were crooked! But it sits square enough and I think it looks ok? Locked the rear diff and put in a 15t and its a riot!

The shell looks good, and the post alignment won't look too bad if you trim them down as much as possible. What colour scheme are you going for?

Cheers Bangkok! I have read up on a lot of info, most that is along the same lines as yours. I don't particularly like the foams either for the same reasons.

I was considering getting the R1 premounts RH-26022 and RH-26023 as that is all my local guy has in stock. prefer black wheels though.

Thanks for your help :)

If the track you run your RC is a concrete track and nitro RC uses as well, you will need foam tires for any grip or traction. All rubber tires will spin out.

Hi Berman,

Most welcome. The R1 premounts are good but just make sure to reglue them before use. The Ride office is at my local track here in Bangkok and they always recommend to glue them again!

If you want black wheels, you could buy the black Ride wheels and buy the R1 tyres separately.

Our local track is asphalt and the grip increases immensely after the 1/10 & 1/8 nitro cars have run.

Put my Ranger back together for now it is complete and not going anywhere, but I won't loose any bits and it takes up less space.

Sent my spare SS of to Cornwall today.

Put my Blackfoot Brat hybrid together again to save space and to stop me loosing any bits of it.

I looked at my Hilux in detailed and have decided to sell one of them as having 5 is a bit greedy.

Finished the decals on the CLK-DTM, sorted the body posts and fitted Tamiya slicks onto some 3mm offset rims that arrived today.

It started out like a small repair kinda deal. The XJR kept steering further and further left on it's last outing and I was sure it would be painless to find and fix. I powered it up and nothing mechanical or servo related was wrong and it acted normal. So while thinking about servo issues and steering I switched out the front steering servo on one of the crawlers so it had a matched pair and the one removed would be a good tester for the Jag. It was fine in the XJR but something had to cause the original problem. I'm still thinking steering and decided to swap out the one way in the TC3 since it was a bust and the only way to make it runnable was to remove the rear tires and wheels. I was staring at the crawler thinking about steering and it struck me that it had a high power BEC. I checked the Jag and it had too much power from the BEC in the ESC. It had a 3 cell with a Fuse ESC and a 4.5 turn motor. The problem is found and it only involved 3 cars to that point. Now I really get to thinking about the motor and power issue. I know I've got a few power issues in a few cars but was putting off sorting it all out. I swapped the motors and ESCs around in the XJR, 959. Peugeot, TC3. Stinger, RC10DS, Attack and blackfoot to get them where I wanted. The Jaguar is fixed and it only involved 10 cars to get there.

I test the cars indoors before they ever go outside to be run and one thing was strange after doing this countless times. The second TC3 has an issue with the cat's food dish it seems. I couldn't tell if it was love or hate but it ran over it twice. Odd little car, all the others never did that.

As I'd been outbid on 5 items on ebay, it was time to drop another RC10 parts order with TowerHobbies - no doubt another lot of customs duty will ensue but there's not much in the way of affordable local suppliers with the range of stock.

I joined RadShaperRc as its the first tiem I have ever lived by a Radio Controled shop that has tracks and a climbing range!

I bought a bunch of stuff in teh shop including

A few 1/10th scale accessories

A new 60T crawler motor for my F350

CC-01 Alloy skidplate

Roof Rack with lights for my Tamiya Pajero :)

I'm not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed to own this. It's a RC10L and it runs OK but the design isn't good or pretty. The steering linkage is the stock setup and quite unique.

Now that i have taken it for a run & not sure if i like the one way in it <_< . I may put in a ball gear & try that . Like in my Avante .

It nose dives as the front wheels still turn etc . May play a bit more , Then change gear . Very smooth to run <_< almost too

smooth :ph34r::lol: .

I should have put in my 1988 Avante in these picks ;) .

The Egress is running : 13.5 LRP brushless , with LRP SXX Competiton ESC , orion 4000 li-po , Avante alloy bits , TPG body , Avante black wheels , Year racing alloy bits . :o

I forgot to mention the special features of the 10L. There are no mounting holes for the battery or servo and everything has to be servo taped in place, The front wheels are E clipped on. The rears are a square 4 bolt pattern and can't be changed. A Tamiya wrench can be laid flat and used to keep the wheels off the ground or a pencil will do. My favorite is the wheelbase, 260 x 235. If it were a little shorter or wider I could mount the body sideways to improve it's looks. The only bit of the suspension with any travel has to all come off to get a motor in it. That's as if the lock collar front steering wasn't enough to prove this to be the racer it was intended to be. :o
