Finally got around to finishing cutting out my tc01 body, then I cut out a few others that have been sitting around the past year or two :(. Raining though so hopefully tomorrow I can start painting them all.

This is where I am with the sand-hopper project.
The body fits on with a blitzer beetle nosecone, but to get it to fit with a sand scorcher nosecone requires cutting off the front of the chassis.  (the scorcher nosecone looks much better on this chassis but I don't want to cut the chassis until I'm absolutely sure)

Also I finished putting stickers on the purple fire dragon body.

I found just the same when i did my Sandhopper, you can see the cut in the linked post and the cover plate i designed in the next one:
(the hit the arrow pointing up to the right to go to the specific post, instead of the start of my topic)

The file for that part is available with my sandhopper mounts body: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5371722

I dont recall if you were to one to check my files earlier but the shape is pretty simple so you could print it on paper, (or manually) trace it onto plastic card, cut it out, drill the holes, paint it black and use button head hex screws going from the top and using nylocks on the bottom for a sleek cover without the need for printing the parts.

I can take some better pics if you want to see it in more detail.

EDIT: realized i already had a (somewhat) better pic uploaded which also shows off the double wishbones and oil shocks:

Excuse the dust, i often run it around cones on a fine gravel soccer field.

Awesome, congrats!   :D  Honestly Tamiya has mostly been for comical stuff (Willy & Billy centric) for me so I can understand exploring other brands.   It would be silly not to.

For me, boss mentioned I can WFH rest of week so I was real pleased about that.

Anyway, I decided to make a dual outlet muffler and driving lights for my Mini Cooper body.  Got the parts spray painted just now.   I am going to work on checkering the roof next.. Wish me hope..

If I have any time left today, will start brush painting Billy.

Yeah to be fair to Tamiya, I am going to get a BBX at some time in the future.

Also I have ~50 RC cars, ~25 are Tamiya.

Not only have I suffered the dreaded '-200' error, but now I can't even access the website at work... it's not blocked, just unreachable?!

I went on a family holiday last week and of course a Mini Z had to come, too. The AAA batteries mean there's no stress taking it on a plane, but the tiny drill bit I took (just the bit) for the wheels for pinged and confiscated at the airport! Oh well.

Hopefully these photos work... I compressed them to 292kb each and uploaded them directly from my phone.

**Update, only let me upload some of the pics**

Thanks for the helpful reply and link!

I was looking closely at your Sand Hopper yesterday,  I had downloaded the files and I noticed the cover for the front of the chassis you had made.

I am planning to use the Grasshopper bumper.  Do you think I should strengthen that area after cutting it or maybe a cover plate would be enough?

It's also very interesting to see a Thunder-Scorcher.

Huge thanks to @Kpowell911 for the parts needed to finish this. Very much appreciated. Wouldn't take a penny for them.🙏

Glad you got what you needed and glad they got there safe. They look stunning!

That's a nice collection of cars!  👍

For me, going to work on striping the bonnet this morning on my XM1S Mini Cooper, and checker the roof..  I could not get to it yesterday as I decided I wanted to make a custom muffler and foglamps..  :D    Billy, seat back, roll cage are all completely painted and finished.. and installed on the car.  I just need to do the final touches today and hopefully will finish by tomorrow.

Please check out my Stories on Instagram if interested for pictures.

Next up.. probably will work on my M06L Beetle #2..  except not sure on the theme just yet.  I have 2 ideas but are polar opposites in theme.

Glueing m chassis tires…

I think mini cooper wheel looks better with 55D tires…

I agree with the MiniCooper wheels and shorter sidewall.   All I run are 55D tires (PitShimizu).  I should be getting a couple of Tamiya's slicks in 55D soon, and will try it on my EVA foam.  I am hoping they grip well..

As for Herbie, I'm not really a fan of that livery.. nothing wrong with it, just not my style.

For me, I finished the Mini Cooper and will be posting pictures in a bit on instagram.  B)  The checkered roof went well, I think.  I am just super low tech.. my wife has a decal/sheet cutter running off PC, so should at least get the squares cut but that machine, but no.. ruler and knife for me stil. lol  it can cut thin styrene too, so like the seat backs should be cut by that.. but no.. just EWH technologies.. (eye balled with hope)..

Update:   I was able to post in the gallery only thread without error today.   Please check out 2 photos or many more on instagram  #pretendRCshop   TIA.   B)

I havnt strengthened mine but i also havnt crashed hard it into anything, the section seems plenty strong to me as is but strengthening it wont hurt anything.

The cover plate is just that, a cover, it might keep some dirt out and but is mostly to hide the cavity.

Thanks , i really happy with how the Thunder Scorcher turned out, just gotta do up its own shell at some point :)

On the main topic:

Today i have ordered a CW-01 Pajero with bearings and a set of brat rims+tires with the intent of following along with http://www.technicopedia.com/RC/CW-01 Montero/montero2.html (which i saw over in the Squash Van thread) to make a CW-01 chassi without the increased height parts.

This build is primarily to have a 2nd CW-01 as an alternative/companion to the almost stock CW-01 i got with my Midnight Pumpkin (which also fits my Lunchbox shell with the 2-in-1 body mounts i made), i like the idea of a lower but still wheelieing chassi to run those bodies on.

I dont expect it to be a very involved build as from what i can see it mostly consists of skipping parts.

Sorting the new/old servo position wont be an issue as i can easily just print a different servo mount, like i have on some other builds.

Dont have any FAV shocks, as were used in the above link, but what i do have are random leftovers, assortment boxes of compression springs and m3 screws, a 3d printer and time on my hands.

Should be relatively quick :)

Model club meeting night again.

Vmd8lqi.jpg

I drove the MTX while the girl drove the WR-02 there.

I keep forgetting that those MAX'S have a really cool paint job, a bit like Ivan Stewart's truck.

On my end I drove this a bit, I think I like the old "colorful ice cream" paint jobs over today's "tribal flames" look.

I was tracking a few items that are inbound to the pretendRCshop and saw that my Tamiya slick 55D's might arrive tomorrow.   If all goes well, I think I'm going to order like a box of these tires from Japan.  B)

XV02RS-Pro..   That might be the basher to get.

👍🏻 Currently looking at one as well. I’ve been swinging between XV01, XV02 & the RS for a while. I’m thinking the RS is the way to go for the Scooby hatchback body I already have as the high front tower of the XV02 Pro might interfere with headlights I’d like to fit and probably have a big gap between the front wheels to the wheel arch because of the shallow bonnet 🤔

The XV02-Pro is a great machine, so if it's a hopped up version, it can only be excellent.  B)
