That looks too good for a Grasshopper chassis, take care when you run it. When I ran a lexan bug shell on my Hornet (which granted, had a bigger motor) it liked to traction roll alot.

On my end I bought this to the LHS, 20-30 years apart, can you spot the differences?

The good old Rustler. One of, if not the most important RC out there for me. I wouldn’t be posting here now aged 36 if I didnt get one in 2001 maybe….

Just a general question for anyone running 25.5BL in their clubs.  The slowest motor I usually buy are 21.5 BL but geared pretty low, meaning not pushing the limits of the motor at all.

I am wondering for my tiny driving space 25.5 BL would be more suited as far as speed, torque, and overall power consumption..  I am trying to figure out whether it's close to a silver can performance?   If so, that might work out better for me.  TIA..

It's what got me started in the hobby too, I run one now since it's one of the few stadium trucks that's still in production (without buying a high end racing kit or more expensive Tamiya).

The one on the left is from a company that didn't quite sell its soul yet to make a bid at taking over the entire RC world (aside from racing).

The one on the left also sports tasteful and less toyish-looking (ok, this is my opinion) black plastics.

The one on the right is tacky and will only be more so once the body is clapped over it. It also sports lights, because rather than just owning the fact their stamping out the same chassis for decades (which could be used as a selling point of how good the original design was) Traxxas is desperately adding baubles in hopes a of keeping folks interested.

Oddly enough, I just happen to be breaking down a Stampede to dye its plastics black and grind the Traxxas logo off the bottom at this very moment.

At any rate, good score @Kowalski86!

P.S. When I was in college, I hung with a Mennonite guy and girl at times. Their church made them burn their Van Halen cassette tapes (yes, I'm old) in a bonfire because it was rumored the band sold their souls to become famous. I don't know if that still persist at that particular religious institution, but if I had a Traxxas and went to that church, I'd be worried.

BTW, that's not a dig at a particular religion, just that specific church for for burning up peoples' possessions

Thank you, I like the black plastics myself. But more than anything vintage Traxxas usually aren't beaten to heck or hacked up, them being before the whole "hard-core bashing" scene...well and being slower.

Iirc, at some point Traxxas changed owners, and that's when they started to change into what they are now.

If it means anything, the younger crowd at my LHS aren't really into Traxxas, they're more into Arrma and Axial, Traxxas is a bit of a joke there.

As for that church, I wonder what they'd think of Robert Johnson, a Delta Blues musician who reportedly "sold his soul" to learn his guitar skills.

I guess that's one thing that I can't knock Tamiya for, they've yet to sell out, and likely never will.

Thanks, I'm thinking about running this one on the beach only, hopefully the body should be ok if it rolls on sand.

Planning a project. Anyone else love Honda / Civic? This is one of those cars everyone’s had, or known someone that did. I absolutely love them. I took my drivers permit in one, learned how to drive manual in one.

I found the “ultimate” colour in my eyes. The 90s teal that I always loved. It comes ready to spray but via airbrush. So I’ll need to build up confidence as I’m a complete newbie with the medium. Have done rattle cans for 30 years. So with it being a “ straight forward & simple  “ single colour project it’s quiet  intimidating. I’m excited. I’ll have to experiment with backing colours. Black / white / silver / blue?? The 1:1 car appears different in each photo when referencing.

Made some adjustments to the 3D model for the custom battery/ESC tray of the Juggernaut.

It only held the battery, but is now a battery/ESC combo tray.

Heating up the 3D printer so I'll hopefully have the new tray this evening.

Finally got round to fitting a TB03 carbon steering link to my TB02R

The response turn in and sharpness of the  steering whilst sat on the shelf is just mind blowing 😉

I have literally just stuck a NiMH pack on charge for some Lunchbox shenanigans this week after work, the weather apart from a little rain tomorrow is decent all week 🎉

I finished the upgrades for the Rustler, what you can't see is the modern metal geared transmission as I've broken one of the plastic ones on brushed power in the past (probably had the slipper clutch set too tight).

Otherwise, I only plan on upgrading/replacing bits as they break. The only other part that I would upgrade is the transmission housing (stock has mediocre cooling), but I'm not going to worry about that for now.

Does that still have 5x8 Bushed front hubs?

Nope, it has RPM hubs with full sized bearings. The Stampede has a set of 5x8 bearings which will be upgraded as things wear out.

Now i am always itching to visit local track so i can run my cars.

M03 with new softer tires.. was awesome. I feel like it moved the way i want it to be except my skill level just wears out those tires which i am okay with lol.

However… one traction roll caused a damage. Looks like m03 chassis part is dried up.. oh well.

Also ran tl-01 with stock slick tires.. and wth. Tires are like semi drift tires… time to put some sticky tires

What broke on the chassis? Usually my M chassis don't really get any damage from rolling over.

Front A arm mount :( it was rolling several times which i think at one point front a arm was impacted.

Yup, grabbed them out of a bin at a swap meet and picked up the wrong one by accident. Doesn't seem to effect performance much. I might try to get it off and flip it around in time.

That stinks, akaik that's a weak spot on TLs and most of the "brick" m chassis. You could probably transfer most of the parts over to a new M05 Ver 2.
