Finished painting my Baja King shell, left it in the sun for a while to cure, then popped it on the chassis and took it for a brief test run. Goes well!

Got some dirt on my Lancia Rally:

I spent my time afterwards fixing it up, including installing a CRP bumper on it. While I actually did like the look of the squared-off resin front guard, it was too brittle to be effective and so I figured I was lucky to still have all the pieces after all the collisions in which it protected my car. I retired it in favour of the aftermarket piece, which is more flexible and offers better slope clearance while paying homage to the original piece. If I could find an original bumper in better condition, I would run with that, but for now I have this part.

The bodyshell did not fit with the bumper on, though, so I ended up cutting a part of it off and screwing it onto the existing bumper mount I had using three different-sized and threaded screws, with an unused battery brace from my F103:

(the Buggy Champ just clears the front of the Lancia on the makeshift stands)

It did not entail a complete teardown as a result, but I also ended up repairing/bending the torsion bars on the front arms of the car and regreasing the spur gear. The motor is still holding up despite the hard running I have been giving the chassis... As an extra precaution, I dished out money for a new set of rear tires should I wear out the current ones.

Spent the evening tiding the garage - far too many boxes of stuff lying around and I was hoarding empty boxes for 'it'll be handy when i sell some parts/cars' excuses. So a full car boot trunks worth of boxes, packaging and unwanted RC stuff has gone to the refuse this morning.

I was able to combine four transmitters, with various parts missing (aerials, battery covers etc), into one near perfect example and another useable one so not all bad news :D

And at leats now I have organised all my ongoing projects into discreet packages so they will be easy to progress now, no hunting through numerous boxes of mixed parts now ;)

I flew my Quadcopter in my house,

I adjusted the Hornet steering,

I continued with my Sea Venom plastic model,

and I continued with my Wizard RC model plane.

I read 5 modelling forums, and watched Armstrong Miller Show lol :D

Plus I filled my car with diesel at a cost of £80!!

Rounded up a few friends & headed to Boondal vintage track with my new Gopro 3.

Got home and spent another 3 hrs trying to piece together a video clip.

Some non-blurry/blurry photos of my cars today:

The Buggy Champ actually overheated on several occasions near the end of the run, which probably was not helped by the plastic radio crate. The battery connectors in particular were rather hot... Next time I will take it out later in the day.

The Lancia performed very well, but it still suffers from torque steer due to the amount of play in the rear arms.

Are you running at least Deans connectors? Or Tamiya ones? Also are you on the high gear ratio (lower top speed when wheels are off the ground) or the lower ratio (higher speed)?

Like i said on the TC main page , the alloy is not always the best too use . Way to ridged the arms are &

you have plastic chassis too a alloy front section & it's going to be the plastic chassis that will let go

sadly . Been through all of this & spent alot of $$ wasted Grr . But it does look good on the shelf :D ..

A switch to Deans connectors would be the right thing - although the car has not overheated before when running 2400 mAh batteries... I suspect that running one with 3300 mAh capacity may have pushed it too far, since it was going far longer on that than the smaller battery.

And yes, I am running the lower ratio. No problems there, either, for a long time.

Today I have yet to do anything RC-related, but I did find a fellow enthusiast on the Internet - not sure if he is a member here, though, since Axial seems more his thing. He did say he owned a Tamiya or two, however.

Beautiful weather, though, to run an Astute or an Avante... We shall see if I do either.

Today I fitted my long-awaited LRP V10 17X2 to my "Monkey Chaser" DT02. Ordered it in February, received it a couple of days ago. Should be able to keep up with my mate and his 12t brushless Mad Monkey now!

Also dug out the Plastic arms for the DF03 when the chassis arrives

You should try the KMC carbon chassis. I think it is still $69

Today I drove my Lancia as I am positive it was intended to be driven - epic rally adventures (and gratuitous photos) ensued:

Yet you will not believe how well it cleans up ;) :

It may be possible that my driving is tantamount to abuse, but I think there are enough perfect Lancias out there for me to at least run this one. Mind you, I respected it in other ways - I did not turn flat-out on pavement, and never drove too recklessly... even if the jumps were a lot of fun! It was made possible by the aftermarket bumper that eventually came loose - a new mounting solution will be worked on.

In the meantime, I do apologize for the excessive content, but it was almost-unbelievable amounts of fun - really, as driving any car like this would be! I should do it more often...

New bright Jeep arrived this morning for my cc-01 scaler project . Overall is not half bad . Having cut the rear floor section away from behind the front seat to the tail gate it fits really well . Wheelbase is spot on . I will make up a new rear floor section with styrene . The body needs the flash lines from the mould removing and some other bits cleaning up but its already being de stickered using Sticky Stuff remover spray that I happened across in Aldi of all places . Worked a treat :D .

Two lots of RC10 nylon parts out of the peroxide/uv treatment today so plenty of rinsing was the order of the day. Sorted parts into those for the 'shelfer' and those for the 'runner'.

Cut washed and painted a Subaru WRC shell. Assembled some 2 piece rally wheels and tidied up an old Celica shell as best I can (bashing shell only !)

Collected some RC10 parts from the post office

Quiet rc day, spent most of it either mountain biking or washing and polishing 1:1 car.

Rubbed my Jeep shell with 1200 wet & dry then masked up the soft(hard) top, windows and front bumper ready for a light dust of primer before the main Jurassic Park colours go on it:
