For me, finished making the lamp post and bench for Bob (Willy's dad).  I think it turned out okay, the theme is Bob taking Collin's dog out for a walk before dusk.   I will post a reel later in the week on instagram.  Please check it out if interested.  Sample picture in my Stories.B)

While I was waiting for the TS to dry, I managed to dress up my pretend pylon test course a little bit.  Posted a short clip in my Stories on Instagram if interested.  I just did a few stacks of tires, placed 2 new red/white barriers, and outlined the edge of the driving space with white tape.  That alone make the space look a bit more like a parking lot vs just a EVA foam room.   What I would like to do next is to figure out a way to outline the curves so that there is a 1/4" width circle just out side of them..not sure how to do that..

I've just finished creating a surface model of a recently acquired Ranger that's been apart for restoration.

Ordered one of these today - owned 3 of them back in 2007 & 2008.

Decided to have one as a shelf ornament as it was one of my favourite cars -

Part exchanged one, sold another and raced the 3rd one 🚗

Wasn't today, but rather yesterday. Discovered there was a Kyosho store in Kuala Lumpur when I was walking around looking for gifts to bring back to the kids.

Pretty much came across it by accident, it's home to the official importer for Malaysia. Its a very small store, also selling a few RC Boats and Planes also. Pretty much all RTR, mostly Fazer's but did see a solitary USA-1. Sadly didn't take photos. If interested its in the Berjaya Times Square mall, 5th floor East. Prices seemed high compared to the UK.

Nothing much going on for me today RC wise.  I need to WFH today after my near week-long vacation, so I am sure my email inbox will be a huge mess..     Good thing my kid made me some chocolate-chip cookies to keep me fueled and sharp.

I think I'm going to spend some time cleaning Willy, Paul, and Collin's shops today.

@IXLR8: Awesome work! Did you create everything from scratch or with help of tools (3D scanner,...)?

Thanks!

I found an F150 body on 3DWarehouse but it was the long bed fleetside version and needed a lot of work to replicate Tamiya's flareside F150.  The grille/bumper and tailgate/bumper were modeled entirely from scratch.  The SRB was modeled from scratch as well.  The chassis parts were relatively easy to create since the shapes are not complex.

Although I don't have a specific purpose in mind for them, I really enjoy making these models.  They've become sorta like shelf queens that never require dusting.  :)

Here we go again.

This is going to be a birthday present for the now 6yo in about a month:

Next up, sanding. The front and rear need some detailing to say the least ;).

Looks awesome @Yoshimitsu!  👍

For me, posted Bob's reel on instagram (actually right after your post Yoshimitsu!) and the dear Ms. Hannah Lemon (handmade miniature sensei) sent me a DM reply mentioning she loved the tree and the overall colors I used. :D   I tried to maximize a warm welcoming soft/sweet home kind of theme to tell a bit of a story.   I would make a longer reel, but the data I am tracking of all my viewers are usually max 4-5 seconds before they move onto the next post.. haha..  Quite surprising how short their attention span is.. or perhaps my reels are uninteresting.  B) ..so I decided to  squeeze everything into the 8sec.     Please check it out if interested.   #pretend_RC_shop

@toyolien, the Javelin and Turbo Optima use the same basic chassis as the Optima as well.

Indeed. The box of bits I bought in the early nineties and thought was an optima turned out to be a Javalin. I only found out this past year as I never had the original body. As far as I can tell,  the only difference is a very minor change to the rear shock tower.

I sniffed some tyres today ... ahh... well, no I did a dry test, getting rims and tyres on my slow, crawly project of a crawler. Real soon now I am hoping to sock it to'em, them rocks out there. :)

As it's been way too cold to do any painting I've been catching up on stickering this. Still lots to do: make some light buckets, make some body mounts, paint the cockpit, paint and sticker the rear wing and wing mirrors, fit a few detail parts..... but it is nice to finally have a body for the chassis and get a glimpse at how it should look.

Edit: Yes, I am going to replace the wheel nuts! :D

Thank you! I think it's one of the nicest looking touring car bodies, and in black and silver you are going to be hard pressed to go wrong! :)

It's a TB-Evoiii chassis:

Nice job @jonboy1. 👍

For me, I need to head to the office today for my money making gig as it's not like my pretend_RC_shop can sustain itself without funding.    I suppose it can with the on hand inventory, but anyway, it's good to have options for future line up.  B)

I posted a quick reel of my MID Night edition OptimaMID this morning on Instagram.. please check it out if interested.  It's a wobbly mess of a clip, but I hope it gets the point across.  #pretend_RC_shop

I think today I'm just going to relax and spend time in my RC space after work... I'm trying to decide on a paint scheme for the VW Bus.. (not sure why I kept calling it the van earlier)..  a neighbor down the street had a beautiful Type2 a while back.. it had a white top and a Ferrari-like red bottom section just like the M06 box art..  it was excellent.  I think he retired and move somewhere warmer.  I only got to see it a few times, but I was super glad as we don't see the Bus much in my area.

I looked over the MB01 and noticed that one of the front wheels wasn't spinning freely.

Turns out that even with the wider nylon hexes I had on it, and these near stock aluminum hexes, the wheels have been rubbing the arms. It's like that at all four corners.

Also note the damper bit, that was installed to keep the suspension in one piece.

Maybe they want you to use full size touring car wheels…

Though that really sucks.. lots of cute m chassis wheels out there..

I forgot to tidy up last night and left my MF01X on the sofa, so my little one got hands on when he came home. (I have a rule in that if I ever leave out my toys by mistake he's allowed to play if it is safe - really as it's not fair to take a cool truck away from him after he's seen it, and to encourage me to tidy!)

He was super excited and kept saying digger (due to the yellow) and cat (due to the driver).

The cat had not brushed his teeth, so my little one helped..

The Land Rover survived! I will take it out to the park when we go, he might be old enough to chase it now (although he's very scared of the robot vacuum cleaner, so who knows...)

I'm thinking that either there was a defect with the mold, my hexes are just too narrow, or something else is going on, I dunno. I'm just glad that I didn't pay full price for it.

I gave someone else a hypothetical question earlier today:

"If you bought a vacuum cleaner from a well known brand for $130, and were told to buy additional parts to fix design defects, is it a good vacuum cleaner?"

They said that they'd call the company and try to get a refund.

Fitted some leccy-tronics to my M05 duo builds:

M05L.thumb.jpg.942402474e840dbf6fccbae0d2eabdfa.jpg

M05S.thumb.jpg.d8322ba0726f319022b53c4e39adb206.jpg

And yes, the newer "Tiptronix" ESC was favoured for the more blingy M05-S purely on the basis that the heatsink is blue. I am very easily pleased.

Now just to paint up some bodies and find time to run things. Should just ship my bodies over to @Yoshimitsu - he's been making some rapid progress lately!

I was advised that there's a bit of a shortage of PS-1 White in the UK just now, so if you see some on the shelves and you need it before January (next shipment) you should probably grab some!
