Decaled the Subaru WRC shell. Painted the rear spoiler. Hopefully it'll all be together tomorrow :)

Well it came together a bit quicker than I thought..

The shell looks great! Looking forward to those location pictures!

Today, my Striker got shipped to Ottawa - that is, I had to move some things for the start of the new school year, and I decided to take it up with me.

It is nice, since it is RC-related yet will not distract me because at the moment, it is not a runner... I shall spend whatever free time I have up there tinkering with it and, if I do happen upon some money, purchase required components to get it working.

It is also the only car with its own radio in my small collection, which makes it ideal for driving up there.

Thanks - pretty pleased with this one. A week ago it looked like this..

Despite the ebay pic, it turned out to be a very lightly used TA-01 with just a broken motor mount - a thorough clean, some bearings, a motor mount and some plastic gears from the spares box , plus a new bodyset from victor101 and its become a very presentable rally car.

Early start this morning, sent the missus off to work so ideal time to strip the Wild One down at the kitchen table ;)..

four rusted screws will need to be drilled out later to release the rear suspension hinge bar, but as the chassis is being replaced its not an issue.

Cleaned all the plastic to be reused, light sand to key the surface of the red items for the primer later today

Started on the metal work, a quick before and after shot of the front shocks..

and the two cleaned fronts alongside the rears waiting the same treatment..

Am juggling looking after a 2&1/2 year old and painting but so far I've managed to get 2 cars into primer already.

Question: with them baking in the sun like this, how long before I can hit them with colour?

First colour is on! I'm not gonna risk masking it up and painting the red on today, will leave the sand beige to cure for a few days before I start messing about. Will probably get another light coat of this on today though. (I'll do a build thread soon).

Next, my scorcher shell in red (busy painting day today)!

Changed my mind, decided to put my original Blackfoot in primer instead (sorry for the constant updates but I'm really exciting to finally get all these cars into the painting process!).

Last pic of the day, have just hit 'em both again with another coat. Will leave them to cure now and pick them up again at the weekend. The Jeep needs red stripes masking and painting then the roof masking and painting. Still need to source some Jurassic Park decals for it too.

The Scorcher I have yellow panel decals to fit courtesy of Stickerbod so they just need applying then a coat or two of lacquer over the top to seal it all.

Watch this space!

They both look excellent, Steve!

Today I continued yesterday's work. I discovered the ESC in my Lancia had passed away quietly sometime after its last run - a hard decision ended with me gutting my Avante to use its identical unit. In the process, I also rebuilt the gearbox and regreased it:

There is something very satisfying about refreshing a runner.

Upgraded the Switch again with a Sport Tuned. Considering it came with a 35T motor stock, the 23T upgrade should make it loads of fun. I don't care, horrible reviews notwithstanding and despite owning two M03's this is still my favorite (mini sized) parking lot basher. Bonus points for coming with bearings and the tires glued.

Just put the yellow decals I got off Stickerbod on, bearing in mind this is a runner body I think it looks alright so far (if I do say so myself):

Chilled with a local cat:

A safari vehicle would have been more appropriate for a 'big cat' sighting...

Edit: And an Astute outing, too. This thing really does kick up dust - that is not fog!
