Got some runs in for postal racing.

A acorn got stuck in the rear wheel of the mf-01x. Didn't lose a dog bone. I've been running it in the low ride height.

My wife said "Could you please put the baby to sleep?" but she omitted to add "and do not work your Golf body while he is sleeping!"

I like how these Kamei stickers come to life against the black and cobalt green background.

Wow, this is a nice colour. Reminds me of the original VW colour.

Got some stripes on this today. I'm still having issues with decal lift. Can anyone recommend a glue to touch them up with?

I had the same thing on my L&L MK1 Escort with the front grille decals. I ended up applying a bit of clear Humbrol Enamel paint under them and hasn’t moved since.

The Legacy is looking great though 👍🏻

For me, after driving my VW Bus a bit, I test sprayed PS over the Mission Models acrylic polycarbonate paint sample I did yesterday.   I found that the paints reacted, so I will not be layering PS over their paint.   Paint adhesion is no problem with the Mission Model paint (well, just as long as one does not spray PS over it).

I was a bit surprised as I had not encountered  this issue with other acrylic lexan paint especially after the paint fully cured.

Like the white roofs and fender arches of my MiniCoopers are acrylic polycarbonate paint layered with PS paint.. absolutely no issue.

Sitting alone as Mrs mtbkym01 has just gone off to work (Qantas Customer Service Manager - Planes still fly Christmas Day). Continued searching for parts for an upcoming project, some are really hard to find, found one on buyee, so have registered and bid on it . Don't really know what I’m doing but its only a spur gear, so hope it doesn't break the bank in shipping??

I agree.   I've ordered from Bangoog in the past and their response is slow when the item is shipped out of their China warehouse.  I think in total it took about 6 weeks from the time of order to delivery to USA.

Got some good news from them this morning. My exceedRC, Backwash, china special, nitro thing or whatever it is, has shipped out, whew. I also got a nice letter from them explaining they have difficult times going on and gave me an apology. Here's part of that letter, not all, because it has personal info on the rest of it.

They also said they have included an extra gift and also gave me a refund of 20 dollars for the inconvience. Well....all I wanted was to know if they planned on shipping it is all. I asked respectively. I'm kinda embarrassed, they really didn't need to do this.

It does show they are a company that values their customers and will do what it takes to keep us. I have respect for that.

Being a Chinese company and with America in a heated time with their Homeland, it's unfortunate that our governments side us against each other in their brainwashing tactics. Well not me, buddy....it's all y'all government people, not us citizens and we can communicate respectively with each other, as this letter to me shows....from a Chinese citizen to an American citizen.

Chinese are good people as well as Americans. My government has not brainwashed me!

Sorry ...

I saw the news last night with the war in the Gaza/Israel.... Seeing children in the blown up streets with blood all over their faces on Christmas Eve, didn't put me in a very Christmas state of mind and made me believe in Jesus Christ, a lot less.(not that I am a hardcore believer)

I'm going to HHELL probably, but I'll ask god if I can bring just one RC car with me. Probably a clodbuster, paint it up in flames....put horns on the hood... Something I think the devil would get a kick out of...possible it might give me a promotion down there ...who knows

Merry Christmas!  Similar to Mrs @mtbkym01, I work (in my case much easier.. do house chores) no matter what the day or special occasion, so finished cleaning the first floor this morning as I always do every Monday mornings.  :D   I will be cleaning the first floor next Monday on New Year's day as well.

For today, when my wife gets up we're going to exchange xmas gifts.. B)  I already know what I am getting so it's no surprise.   I first want to paint the lettering on the MadVan and do a quick photoshoot.   Rest of day pretty much work on RC or spend time chatting with my wife and kids.

@Pylon80 it’s the only time anything can be done! ( I have 3! )

Polycarbonate cleaner - on the mk2 golf I stripped back and cleaned the smoke and clear red off of the rear lamps. I’ve tried multiple attempts and directions solutions, but ultimately it just hasn’t resulted in a good enough final look so I’ll be using the kit decals mounted from the inside, find this looks nicest, can’t wait to not work on this anymore ! 😂

That's good to hear @F-150.   I too always consider character of the person over any identity differences.

However, some reinforce their stereotypes so sometimes unclear seeing past that cloud of bias..    It's not your fault.

@technics  Dang, if that came out of your ear you need to see a doctor!  :D   haha. ;)

Merry Christmas all!

I've spent the morning building the gearbox of my Monster Beetle complete with carbon fibre gearbox parts. Time now to do my part of the rather large lunch we're having!

Interesting, I was actually thinking that the next body I make would have the rear lamps painted (translucent PS of sort backed with something dark?) as I am really not happy with trying to make stickers conform to the shape. Every day I apply heat and they look good for a few hours then lift again around the edge). It's hopeless. Your idea of applying stickers on the inside is great!

@Pylon80 Yes I’m not a fan at all of using any kit decals. The finish rarely is correct not to mention crease nightmares. I rather have less detail and a stubble overall final stealth look that you can’t quite describe but just feels right and looks more realistic then overly detailed highlights and shadows. So I ideally paint everything, all window trims, lamps etc. All black areas below are painted except the partlines in tape.

I’ve had great success on some projects brush painting the clear lexan building up hues I desired ( seen below ) But this works if the lamp buckets are deep and don’t have enormous gaping holes for leds. It’s all oversized in feeling on the golf. Shallow up right up against the “lens”.

Impressive work on the tail lights (and the rest)!

I think things like sponsor decals are perfect with stickers (which are basically scale sponsor decals 😅) and the vinyl used by Tamiya is insanely good and very thin. But anything else like door handles or faux 2D details like bonnet quick release pins etc look terrible in decals and I'd rather not have them. Anyway, it's like static models: to make good bodies you need to have made a lot of bodies ;)

@Pylon80 ruined a lot of bodies to finally make a few good ones which seems like they’re “all good”. Yes static models. The birthplace of all this. Still a dream to get them to look half as good as lexan paint wise.

For me opened my MadVan this afternoon (a gift from my wife) and proceeded to paint the sidewall lettering.  Turned out fine as usual.  I also added a few decals to make it mine.   I though that was the end of it and noticed the car came with a pre-painted, uncut roof wing.  👍 So I cut/shaped that and installed.  Looks real good.. then noticed it also came with a rear bumper.     so I installed the bumper onto the chassis and cut the body in the back for the bumper opening.  Looks superb.  :D

I did not know I can play with RTR this much before even installing a battery or pulling out the transmitter from the box.  Will do that tomorrow.

Update:   I posted a clip of my MadVan on instagram.  I used iMovie and lost quite a bit of resolution.. might do a re-take down the road but it's basically stock so I think its okay.. (?).  Please check it out if interested.   B)

I saw that amain has the Mini-Z 4x4 Jeeps for only $99.  Great deal.  :D    Turbo Optima for $299 also a great deal if anyone is interested.  I have no plan to add any more models for my pretend_RC_shop (at least for the time being) as I am out of display space.  If AE releases a gold pan RC10 rere I'll do that, but the rest will all be cars for my garage/outdoor driving including the MadVan I just received.

I figured out why my MadVan reel was so crappy.. my iPad only supports up to 720dp (wow.. what garbage equipment I have..LOL) and accidentally edited 2 shots into one on it.  I redid it using iMovie on my iPhone15Pro and re-uploaded using 1080;  it is considerably better, but unedited clips look cleaner.  I need to play with it a little more, but I bought LumaFusion (cheap video editing software for iOS) so will try my next reel using that with 1080 and see how it does.  I suppose if it still sucks I will edit and upload using 4K.  Most of my other clips were uploaded using 1080 straight from my iPhone with no edits (besides white balance) so I know the culprit is the editor setting.  But I am not a digital creator nor pretending to be one, so it's fine if my clips are a bit folksy and crap.. it keeps things real.  👍

I am expecting 4-5 package to arrive today..so looking forward to that.  B)   I'm going to see if I have any spare truck side mirrors I can install on the MadVan..

Xmas dinner at family got cancelled due to flu, so got some unexpected bonus time.

3D printed a prototype front strengthener/servo plate and vertical LIPO battery box for the Mugen chassis electric conversion.

ESC will be in the front. Need to add a on-off switch mounting attachment and a place for the receiver.

To-do first: Gear cover, back gearbox plate and a metal bar from front to rear to stop the chassis from flexing.

Nice @Willy iine, glad you got your own Mad Van, there just needs to be one in your Kyosho fleet! B) I am curious to see what extra decals you added to make it yours. I did exactly the same, first thing basically... it's an important step for a RTR! I got used to the "tame" looks of mine, meaning without rear nor bumper, and chose to leave it like that for now, but that could change anytime :D it sure is a nice bonus so you can personalize the truck right out of the box (the extra decals are cool too).

As for me, I finally got to open the christmas gift last night. Thanks wifey! 😍 before..20231225-230444.jpg

...and right after :wub:20231225-230709.jpg

I wish I could jump on it right now... but nope, we have another big lunch today and we're involved in the prepping-cleaning as well. So this will have to wait for later, while I try to keep my decorum and be in the moment instead of only thinking about RC 😅
