Decals arrived for my Colin Mcrae’s Legacy RS. There’s room for improvement which I’ll take going forward but I think they’re keepers and will not take away from a model when it’s all in one standing object.

Sponser logo and markings on transparent vinyl. Metal finish on black backing. You’ll never see the glossy clear orange peel effect as the scale of this stuff is ridiculously small!

@ImALlama The m-chassis I recommend is the Xpress XM1S.  You will need to do some work on the body posts and get your wheels/body, but man, this car drives superb.   👍     If looking for a kit with body, then M06 is a good choice, imho.

@technics your decals look good!

For me, I hit a bit of a snag on my JJ WC Ultima.. nothing wrong with the kit, it was me not doing enough homework before attempting to run Tomahawk wheels on the car.  Anyway, I think I figured out what I need to do, so ordered some bearings hopefully arriving tomorrow.  But the other sections of the car is coming together.  B)

Going to put in a few more steps and then work on installing a small floating shelf on the pretend pylon test course wall to display my iPad.

btw, my wife saw the caulking and said it looks good.   The part she left out was 'for a newbly newb.'.

Lol, @alvinlwh and @Willy iine, I think the messy finish would stress me out!😂 but I can certainly see the advantage of having a little additional space between studs etc.

That kind of work is very simple and cost effective if you do it yourself - plasterboard, a Stanley knife and some screws is pretty much all you need, plus the knowhow of course, but YouTube is a godsend for that!🙂👍

How did it go with 'The Caulking - Part Two'  Willy? Sounds like a horror movie title, I hope the reality was less scary!!👍

I installed a driver figure in the small Suzuki truck. It's a little too big, but it was with my spare parts and is now finally being used. Since the canned beer is still missing, he holds the wrench in the meantime. :-)

@ImALlama if you  want to swear order a MF-01x. What a chassis to build. Yikes. 😅

Being the curious fellow I am, that just moved the MF01x up the list

Well now you just made the whole process harder , I’m liking what I’m seeing though, and their FM1S looks interesting with its mid motor belt driven fwd. Almost did get an M06 a couple weeks ago but didn’t :( not sure why I didn’t go through with it.

My goal is to buy only one as I have way too many cars as it is, however I fear the only real solution is to get them all :lol:

@ImALlama   Is the body you want to get a FWD car?  Because 4WD will make it a lot more capable car overall.. and be versatile for all sorts of bodies including RWD car bodies.   I mean it's completely up to you and I'm not here to preach.. just tossing ideas your way.  :D

For me, got about 80% of the JJ WC Ultima completed.   I am waiting for bearings and rings to arrive before I can proceed with the rest of the build.   Just a re-cap I'm trying to install Tomahawk wheels on the car but the JJ WC Ultima runs standard hex hub and it wasn't a simple hub change as the axle for the Tomahawk wheels are much longer and wider.

I could make the rings myself (basically collars), but since I was able to find the perfect size online, I will wait for those to come in later in the week.  There's really no rush to finish the car as I'm also waiting for my new M17 radio and receivers to arrive which will be the ultimate radio for this car at the end.  I decided to upgrade the radio for my main outdoor cars to something more age appropriate for an older middle-aged guy driving toy cars outside.

In other news, I saw Kogawa-san's reel for the new Subaru WRX WRC FazerMk2 rally car just now on Instagram.  It has higher ride height as expected, new block tires, and even an internal clear cover for the chassis..!  Nice.  I  might have to get one down the road especially since I'm a Subie guy.  B)    He actually took the video (I assume he was driving it too) and had Kyosho produce it.

I do like ideas :D. I think that’s my dilemma, I like many bodies and can’t decide which one , and if I get multiple I prefer they all have their own chassis rather than share. Also keep going back and forth on drivetrain, with normal scale I’ve got plenty of 4wd and a fwd so I’m leaning toward rwd, but could always run a 4wd in either configuration if I wanted. Which is why even though I only want one I can see myself getting four, don’t need to think about this stuff if you have a rwd,fwd,4wd, and off road :D

Now if I had a track to run/race them on it’d be an easy decision, but around me they’re all off-road for racing buggy’s and SCTs, and sadly the only on road one I could find closed down years ago :(. Even worse, the entire time it was open (I think was 8 years) I lived across the street from it and didn’t even know it was a track.

I can see how you want a chassis to go with the bodies.  I'm like that as well.   :D

Yeah, sorry to hear about the track closing..  I'm going to be driving my Basher m-chassis starting this Spring on my driveway with a MiniCooper body.  My driveway is rectangular and concrete so should be sufficient to do some decent runs with a silver can.. might even bump it up to SportTuned.  Otherwise I'm in the same boat.. I really need to take my XV to do any decent 'driving' on pavement as my local parking lots are fairly smooth, but not smooth enough for my low riding m-chassis.

I have one that is like 30min drive, but often times i find it hassle to go just to run a car (traffic is bad unless i go there early on weekends and not guaranteed the spot because sometimes group of folks do the racing…. Since it is a city run track). I still really enjoy m chassis around my house even for 5min (it is cold.. so cannot run for long), it puts smile on my face though couple of them are converted to Rally version for more versatility.

Mf01x definitely is more capable where i ran it couple times on trails(with 1/10 tires, it works real well for what it is).

what i am trying to say is, get more m chassis! It also takes less room to store :)

A4 Test prints on paper - I guess i like the satisfaction of making decals that I wish " i could have " ?  I can´t really say how many times i´ve test printed and edited these. Must be two dozen. Too many. All a learning process! So in the process of making my Ronal to OZ wheel "conversion" decal I´ve also made Michelin rally tire decals. I´ve made sure that both fit regular Tamiya part number wheels and rubber in the process! Both M and regular scale. There´s a possibility of so many variants down this tangent but I´m stopping here. It was a bit of fun and only meant to beef up the GR Yaris tire a bit.

@technics  That is going to look superb!  B) Nice work and yeah, I too find myself trial/error often.  In my case due to no intelligence I have to do everything by hand.. yet I'm stubborn so won't let go until I'm satisfied.   Keep up the great work.  Looking at your photo's and your collection of cars, it's definite paying off from my perspective!  👍

So, my caulking I did yesterday looks like a win.  The product appears to have solidified and no more shrinking.   I did it in the coldest part of winter so that everything is at its shrink limits.  This should last me a long time.    I checked my windows in the bedrooms and some of the caulk was starting to come apart, so I'lll do those too later on.   Like my spackling work, I'll be pretty good at it in no time.  Not letting some stupid tube of silicon pyiss me off.

For me today, going take video of my CityTurbo for my next reel that shall be posted on Friday.   Should be fun.   I installed the small floating shelf yesterday so going to see what I can place on it to decorate what was once a boring blank wall..

Had some good news today, so treated myself to ordering a few bits. Got some more hop ups for my Hotshot2 coming from rc channel, and in the absence of any of thd regular ones, picked up the Hotshot2 blockhead cage to try and see if I can graft it onto my TD4. Not a huge amount, but should keep me in fun projects for a little while.

My home brew 2WD buggy is coming together and I'm pleased so far with how it is taking shape.

20240116_210331

This is just a prototype with styrene chassis parts to test the assembly of everything else. I have a few adjustments to make in some of the 3d prints but nothing major.

Styrene is a joy to work with, with the scoring and snapping for straight cuts. When I make new chassis parts out of carbon fibre I'll need a really good method for cutting straight lines (I have an idea) and I'm also going to have to up my drilling accuracy, so I'll probably use 3d printed drilling templates.

As is always the case, I looked at the photo before reading the comment and was thinking perhaps it was a new model from G-Force, XRAY or Yokomo.

Needless to say, the buggy is looking very respectable.  :)

For me, finished making my reel of my @nicherotors 4WD Wheeler (City Turbo) and will be posting the clip on Friday.  Please check out my stories if interested as I took shots of how I made the recording.

I also glued the Tomhawk tires to their wheels with the assumption my mod (?) de-mod (?) of my JJ WC Ultima#2 will go well..     I received the bearings today, I'm waiting on the rings (shims) to arrive tomorrow.  Kogawa-san did not frown at my current approach so I am assuming this will work.. with hope..    I am planning to use my shorty so at least I have some adjustment with the weight balance forward/aft of the car if the rear tires are too soft and light during off throttle.. but with the huge wing, I'm sure it's going to be okay as my Beetle drives absolutely fine.

Since I had my tire glue out, I also glued new tires to my white MID wheels in prep for the outdoor MID.  I will be working on the MID body after I finish the JJ WC Ultima #2.  B)

Finished off the chassis of my CC02. It's stock apart from bearings, (mostly) stainless hex screws (I had a generic screw set and there are some abnormally long screws required), alloy GPM servo horn (there were some bit missing from the servo saver assembly and had this spare) and a steel pinion.

Finished off with Absima 80a v2 esc and matching eco thrust B 35t motor.

This is a project car and will test and change parts as I tinker. I already have some Injora beadlock rims and soft Austar tyres that came with the kit when I bought it on Buyee (along with the bearings).

This was the most fiddly build I've had to do, the little plastic inserts which hold some of the nuts are, well, nuts. Still need to tidy up the wiring and paint the body, which will be mounted with magnets (eBay specials).

Nice! How’d you decide to set up gearing / diffs?

Congrats on the MID @gkatz!

For me, heading to the office today for my money making gig.. hope it goes by real quick as I am not in the mood. :(   but it will be fun to drive my 1:1 WRX..

I got confirmation that my M17 shipped so that's cool.  I am expecting a total of 5 receivers for my outdoor cars so by next week I should be all set.   I don't even know how many model memory the M17 has.. LOL   but I don't plan on expanding my outdoor cars all that much.

Later today I am expecting my shims to arrive so will see if I can figure out my JJ WC Ultima #2's rear axle..  hope it works.

I saw that Kyosho Japan released a new entry level RTR 2WD EZ buggy.. not sure whether that's a Kogawa-san design or not.. shall find out in a couple of hours.   Not particularly a car for me, but it has an open cage and driver and looks pretty cool.

I'm thinking about doing a reel of my Kyosho Beetle next..

Edit:  The EZ buggy was not designed by Kogawa-san.
