Put my cheapie pre-painted ebay Skyline runner body on my TL-01 chassis, gonna run it today to see how it goes:

You can't go wrong with those printed shells for runners - under £15 delivered, just cut, fit n run ;)

Got this idea after reading Skottoman's Gelande Land Rover build thread, only takes a couple of coats for an even application and its sure easier than trying to do it with paint!

They should be - at least the more-colourful pens, anyways. I imagine that black is less translucent.

Today, I caved in by splurging on a set of Lancia 037 body pieces parted out by an online seller... He must have bought a new body kit and broke it up for spares. Either way, it will be very nice having extra trim pieces - including potentially door mirrors - for my runner.

Those pens look like a neat idea, saves getting the paintbrush out. Are they still nice and translucent for adding light to?

Yes they are very translucent mate, should look real nice with lights behind them.

I had an hour in the garage today after work testing handset, receivers and servos.

It was very getting a better idea of what spares I've got and what works, all good for clearing space.

The Vintage Clod runs as well, which was a very pleasant surprise.

I spent all morning and half of the afternoon in the garage with my Hilux.

Bits and pieces all over the place, one now runs although it does need setting up properly and I'm now rethinking which ones to keep and which ones to sell.

What a lovely day!

Added turnbuckles and steering servo to my RC10 Team runner - still waiting on a few bits from the US, but oh so close to finishing now :D :D

Bought a set of WR8 wheels since I suspect they're going to stop selling the specialized Ken Block wheels before I wear out the ones that came with the car.

Finished building my Lunchbox - used wheels and shell from recent purchase from LeeMutz (cheers) and brand new chassis from Modelzone Midnight Pumpkin bargain.

Shell was black and red (over white, over red, over grey) but all that was quickly stripped off with B&Q drain cleaner. Now a blank canvas for my daughter to go to work on.

Bought 24+1 Sharpies from Costco for about £10 after seeing the great job they do on Scorcher lights in a post on TC recently. I've asked her to use them on this Lunchie.

Looks like sharpies in & tamiya paint is out :D ... New trend .

Almost feel like we are back to school :P.

What have I done! My "cheat" technique has gone public! Hahaha...

Although I really only think they would work well tinting clear plastic. Not so great for "Painting" a LB shell, but hey, you never know what you might end up with!

I also use them to color light bulbs. Yes, the actual LEDs or incandescents.

Cheers,

Skottoman

Well if she doesn't like it, or her art skills develop then you can always take it off with drain cleaner (or paint over with white primer) and start over again

I made a bit of progress on the hotrod but still have a long way to go. At least it looks like a car instead of a bunch of parts. :D

Put my new 3Racing shocks and carbon front tower brace on my Holiday Buggy. Also continued with the slog that is getting 3 layers of paint off a 30 year old Sand Scorcher shell.

I paint my gold mesh Wheels from my Tamtech 934 RSR for a more detailed Look.

I use X18 Semi Gloss Black and a fine Tamiya Brush 87048, i spent 2 Hours for one Side - 2 rims. I am very happy with the result.
