I use X18 Semi Gloss Black and a fine Tamiya Brush 87048, i spent 2 Hours for one Side - 2 rims. I am very happy with the result.

And so you should be - those look excellent

This evening Ive made a cardboard mockup of the 1/16 scale LCM 3 I've been planning to go with my Sherman tank. I didn't have the tank to hand for the pics but my CC01 Dingo does a pretty good job to compare the size of the thing.

It's about 3ft long and 1ft wide and I'm pretty happy with the proportions so far. Now I can break it down and use the cardboard sections as templates for cutting out the plywood.

My friend wrecked his F201 and snapped the posts for the rear wing. I finished this mount today that replaces the rear spacers for the carbon chassis and then goes up to let him bolt on the rear wing. It moves the wing back 3mm but the bolt mount will hold the wing more rigid. I made a second one for when I manage to do the same thing.

There's nothing like good timing. I've been working on a mold for a front nose over the last month or so and finally got it ready to try out. I can make loads of them for next to nothing so it doesn't matter if I mess one up. Here's the first one on one of the bodies that needs one. They're fiberglass and about as rigid as original, it was the 3D and side rigidity that was the concern as well as the thinness. I'll be making green, red, black and white ones....and spares for my friend that I race with

Drop by my LHS and to my horror I found many D90 parts available which are much cheaper than buying form web seller particlar from a well known one.

for example:

1) roof rack for Gelande 2: LHS US$48.80 vs webseller US$120.00 plus delivery charge

2) snorkel: LHS:US$8.50 vs webseller US$30.00! plus delivery charge

3) Front Winch bumper: LHS US$48.80 vs webseller US$60.00 plus delivery charge

4) diamond plate; LHS US$12.00 vs webseller US$28.00 plus delivery charge

5) driver: LHS US$5.20 vs webseller US$25.00 plus delivery charge

Too depress to look at other items for the Gelande 2.... Not really, as I will get more option from my LHS

A brick and mortar operation for local customers can sell stuff cheaper than a web seller, which is for world wide customers.

To be fair, most of these goods are made in China so the LHS will have cheaper shipping cost not by much as bulk or full container load shipment is not too expense once prorated to the goods in the container, usually is an additional 5%. LHS has much higher rental and operating cost compare to the customer base.

Bottom line, do your home work and save :) , else be prepared to pay :( .

I see you picked up that green livery F201. Nice job on the nosecone! You're making me want to get some of my F201s out and mess with them!

Cheers,

Thanks Skottoman, I never knew there were different bodies for the 201. The black one has been in storage for about a year waiting on me to find or make it a nosecone and it's a different body.

The after a nose job pic.

Found two soft case lipo packs a little puffed up so they have gone to the appropriate recycling point

Cut two new wing tubes for the RC10 runner - almost done now :D

Ordered some RC10 re-re parts from Tower - lipo compatible rear bulkheads, wing tubes and some steering bell cranks

Replaced the front shock on the Madcap with the one of the spare Madcap I have. ran it for a bit in the street, then got bored, went in and decided to put the old DF03 shocks from my keenhawk (which I upgraded to 3racing alu) on to the madcap that's missing a shock now,

bit of a tight fit, but hey it was something to do!

Now I just need some rear wheels, and iv got another basher, although the parts that hold the rear arms (C1) have been threaded out so may need some xtra bits before I get anywhere with that lol

The Madcaps look great, z00ter!

Yesterday was my birthday, so I decided to stop caring whether people judged me (read: kicked me off the local baseball diamond) or not and gave my beloved Lancia Rally some good runs:

y1b1.jpg

On the first run, I noticed one 1150 ball bearing was missing from the front left wheel, but ran it anyways. It performed well; for the second run it was installed again after a quick search had it turn up in my room.

I also won two auctions on a pair of well-used Lancia Rally wheels and tires to salvage, and a pair of used aftermarket rear arm supports. The latter should reduce the amount of slop in the rear suspension system, which has me excited. I replaced the stock metal arm holders with spares from said bag anyways; these were less-used and so slightly reduced free play:

pkwa.jpg

All 1150 ball bearings in the car were also given a cleaning and the bodyshell and tires were re-glued with silicone sealant where appropriate (no super glue to be found).

My parts bag was raided to build up a stock, non-differential O.R.V. gearbox to help confirm/allay a fellow TC member's suspicions about its assembly and resultant play:

The Striker was also given its box-stock set of wheels back - it looks better than its modern-wheel form, I found.

Went to watch the Tamiya Asia Finals in Bangkok this afternoon to give some Thai friends that were competing some support. I didnt join the Tamiya Cup this year but will definitely join next year again. A good day out!

I sold a charger which was a pleasant surprise..only 2 left to go!

Had a short while sorting out my Silver Hilux, quite close to having it up and running now.

I'm looking forward to it, a lot.

Sold the Mardave, then spent most of the funds on an early tamiya on road chassis. Followed that with a Tekin 310 ESC to sit In one if the RC10 shelters.

I just finished this one up and can't think of a name for it. I've got a clodbuster body on a USA1 chassis that's now a Clod 1 but somehow double foot doesn't sound right. It's an original blackfoot body on a double dare chassis so if you've got a name idea it's probably better than I've thought of.

Chubby Chequer

Sorry - noticed you're from Denver; Chubby Checker (although that sounds very wrong)

You all have had better ideas than I've come up with. Black dare sounds like a medical problem. Double foot is probable being used for a circus sideshow. Blare reminds me of Linda Blair from the movie Exorcist. Chubby Checker does sound like a friend of mine that works at Walmart though. :D

How about Darefoot ?
