Liquid had a Jimny body in stock. I had the link bookmarked with the intent of going back a few days later to order it. It was gone. Not sure what I am gonna do when I jack up body on mine. I looked for the Beetle body off the TR but Tamiya America is out and they say they are not coming back. I also considered picking up a dump truck body but even at RCMart they are $50 and still need to be shipped to the US at a premium. I think the answer it just to drive my FT and not worry about it. I mean I could always pick up a Comical and throw my tracks on it or just convert mine to a Comical. And on that note....maybe I should order one of those but which one? I know this sounds stupid but I am pretty sure I would need to get more than just a body to make the conversion but I am too lazy at the moment to look at the manuals to figure out what. @Sogogi, can you drop the knowledge when you get your Avante built?

Yeah sure. I remember comical ones use different body posts.. will see

XV-01 coming along nicely, hopefully have it ready to run tomorrow if I get chance to sit for an hour!

Turning the shafts by hand I’ve got the distinct impression I mixed up my diffs!  Feels lighter at the front end, when the intent had been to run the heavier oil that end 😂 (10k v 3k).  Will be an interesting experiment anyway, if the handling is nasty I’ll refill the front diff with heavier again, say 30k.

First off, that's a seriously dope looking FJ she has. Second, they are getting harder and harder to find and extra bodies are impossible. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong). I'd order the FJ while you can. I can only find them on Ebay and RCMart. I've been wondering if the FT was Tamiyas way of closing out the GF01's as the GF02's are out now. I am desperately trying to justify ordering a Heavy Dump Truck or the portal TR version as I know when they are gone they will be gone BUT....there are other kits I like too like the Super Saber. But then again, the GF01 is a super cool and fun vehicle and having one with wheels would be a cool thing too.

Thanks. She enjoyed building this one with me. Body could be better but that’s on me, plus we had paint issues. Used CoreRC for the colour but ended up with lots of bleed (tape was Tamiya). She doesn’t care though, just me being critical. It’s not and never was meant to be a shelf queen so what does it matter.

Just had a look at availability and indeed does seem scarce. Might have to get some spares ordered to be safe. Maybe the standard arms so we could convert back if we decided too.

A possible plus though is Tamico saying they have ordered Land Cruisers and Monster Beetles from their supplier so could be a sign more are coming as I would imagine they would just show ‘sold out’ otherwise. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

After struggling with the setup on the originals, decided to change the dampers on the BR.

I really hope they are not being discontinued. The MN models FJ45 body fits in the GF01 really well if you flip the rear arms. They are £20.

It's got a 200mm wheelbase which works nicely when you flip the rear arms.

Also the taiyo jeep renegade and a few others..

My would-be crawler aka GF01 now runs with a WP1080 G2. I personally like the two new options "real car" mode and stepless "drag brake". I think the G2 could be even more useful in my CR01 Unimog.

Couldn’t wait so got back on it after getting the kids to bed!  A lot of tinkering on the body posts but happy where I’ve ended up.  Also a crash course in Futaba setup with the new Tx so I could run it round the kitchen for a test drive!

Just built gf-01cb today. I thought it is 99% similar to regular gf-01.. but i was wrong. Suspension arms are all new, new bracket for the rear so that bodymount can be mount in different area.

It drives so well. It is kinda like long arm version of regular gf-01. Supple suspension and better cornering. Cannot wait to get out and run on dirt.. only thing is that it is tad bit slower than my gf-01 land cruiser due to smaller tires. Plan to add tz motor :)

I will say now i want wr-02cb :)

Dang those Camaro’s look good.

It would be interesting to hear what you think of it compared to a TT02 😉

I plan on writing up something after I drive it some more, so far I like the Fazer more, hut it isn't leaps and bounds better. That being said the RTR electronics aren't half bad.

Watched a video on YouTube, new channel by this guy that uses bashing as his RC style. He's another Talbot want to be, jumping cars 40 foot into the air, dropping o to pavement at a skate park and yelling wwwooopoaaahhhh!! When parts break off.

I'm speaking for myself, but I can't stand these people that make radio control into some "cyber punk, totally rad, dude, "sick" and RC boy band crap, lmao.... I don't know how to explain what I'm thinking.

Arma Kratons are tough, all out bashers, but not for what Talbot and this other moron do to them. It's so stupid and shows young kids getting into the hobby what NOT to do.

Lots of expensive parts for dads to buy when JR. Jumps his senton 50 foot into the air, smacking into a tree, cause.....Talbot did it.

Nice!

I notice the body comes with the windscreen cut out. I thought it might be for switch access but the switch is elsewhere. Do you know why the windscreen is removed?

(Yesterday) Nice easy one day build for once, but of course I still have a little bit of black paint details for the cab to complete, for another day.

Credit and thanks go to @Mouc-RC for the tire and wheel inspiration - LOVE the look!

That looks a lot more accurate than balloon tires!  What are the wheels and Tires @Mouc-RC inspired? (I missed out on that part)

Nope. My original Boomerang in the late 80's also had the window removed so I can only assume is was a design decision back in the day.

So if you will excuse some more GF-01 action, and this time it has actually seen some!

Charged both batteries last night. Charger indicated both were full. It lied but we will get to that!

So I had the morning free before work in the afternoon so we hit the park. First battery in and nothing. Panic sets in, we know the batteries are well past their best but just wanted a play whilst the replacements arrive. Pulled it out and with everything crossed in went the second battery and we had life.
Daughter wasted no time draining it!

Unfortunately she only got about 12 minutes out of it, but it was successful. Everything worked and ran well with just a couple of areas for me to look over. Steering needs a look. Definitely think lowering the servo has thrown it out slightly. Fairly obvious left/right throw.
I also want to look at the body. Feels like it sit too far to the back. Have no mounts however as spares accidentally (stupidly!) binned at some point.

Anyway, I’m waffling. The main part. She enjoyed having it back out.

53623530269_be27ce1f46_b.jpg

And if it’ll work a quick video. Trimmed right back whilst she gets used to it again but still happy to pop! Still seemed somewhat slower than I recall however. Battery again maybe?

Work commitments mean it’ll be left alone for a few days now but with any luck the new batteries will arrive in the meantime.

Gf-01cb is awesome. Dirt tuned motor is just luke warm after running full throttle with some donuts.

time to add hotter motor

Having gone down the MN/WPL route, I wish they'd sell more of their bodies separate. Not a huge fan of what they throw underneath them.

I ordered a CC-01 Lowering kit for the wheels, then painted Camel Yellow. The tires are RC4WD Mil Spec 1.9"
