How did you achieve that? It is precisely the look I'd like for one of my F103 motor mounts.

That is interesting, I sourced this old aluminum mount for my F1-89:

I am not sure I like the looks and I have been wondering about how I could change the color. I think I really like @RyantheRed's solution.

There could be better products for this, thats just and old bottle of what i had laying around from gunsmithing for touching up black aluminum.... All i did today was search and order parts for upcoming rc builds.

Put the mountain bike in the van and headed north 100k’s to try out some new to me trails. (I’ll spare @Pylon80 the torture of the even bigger spider than the last one, that hitched a free downhill ride on my crash helmet 😉)

Just so happens my nearest hobby shop is around the corner, so it would be rude not to pop in while in the neighbourhood,

IMG_7145.jpeg

I only intended picking up a couple of tins of paint for a Giulia body, but there was a very reasonably priced HPI 66’ Mustang body and a cheap set of drift wheels to have a go with so they came home with me. Sadly chatting to the owner the shop is now up for sale. Next closest hobby shop worth visiting after (if) it sells will be 500k’s south, nuts.

I took the BBX for a run to stretch it's legs. The suspension works really well off-road. Great buggy from Tamiya!

I’ve got this week off and we’ve been away for a couple of days and this evening I’ve actually done some wrenching - wahoo 😂

Small amount on the XV01 and on the unsold Blitzer Beetle 💥

Oh dear! That would be Rory's!?!?

I was up in Rocky on holidays a couple of weeks ago. He has always been handy for the odd crawler part - he had the Axial gears we needed and we also picked up some reasonably priced crawler tyres. I saw the For Sale sign out the front, but didn't have the heart to ask :( Another LHS on the edge of closure. It must be tough in today's market.

Yep, that’s the one. Elite hobbies down the road went a year or two ago where I got my EB4 buggy from. Apparently someone is looking at Rory’s but he wants to make the building half laundrette half hobby shop?? The current owner isn’t convinced that’ll work. Maybe it will (hopefully) if the laundrette can help prop up the hobby side. Rory is a very knowledgeable guy and would be sorely missed. He did also mention that the kit side of things doesn’t do to well, it’s all RTR these days. Some people even cringe at the thought of putting a couple of stickers on 😬 It’ll make stocking up on the small stuff like paint, servos etc a bit of a pest.

My wife and I own a small business and indeed the sector is getting very hard, the government & council made it that way. Fortunately we are in the process of a sale ourselves. Overheads are monstrously ridiculous now.

My BIL lives around the corner from Hobbyrama in Brisbane (who oddly won’t post many of their kits) and a few others aren’t far from there so looks like more visits down that way in the future.

How true, people really go for the RTR's these days. I much prefer the kit form - showing my age???

What a small world, Hobbyrama is my closest LHS :) I haven't bought any kits from them in about 20 years but I buy my static models, paints and other supplies from them when I can. It's great to have a shop like that, 5 minutes down the road. Fun fact, the bald guy downstairs sold me my TA02 Calsonic kit back in 1993 when he worked at Mr Toys in the Myer Centre, Brisbane City. Another knowledgable guy I hope doesn't leave anytime soon.

I hope the sale of your business goes well!

I guess it works thataway ... "See, nobody wanted it, honey - so I'll just have to build it, then". ;)

Went to the beach today, forgot my bucket & spade but not the Turbo Scorpion 😎 A spot I’ve been wanting to take it for a while now and it ran as faultless as ever.

A great looking buggy, I find myself admiring Kyosho more and more.

Fabulous photos, to me running an RC on a beach is one of the primary reasons to own them.

Kyosho certainly make some quality gear @Grumpy pants, they seem to be a more or less fully hopped up straight out the box, bearings, metal bits, hex screws, lovely suspension, slipper, etc, which is nice, their re-re’s are done so with more modern motors and electric’s in mind.

Spares aren’t as readily available as Tamiya but fortunately I haven’t need any yet 😉

Yesterday and today together, very out of character I painted the bodies for two future projects as well as a current one.

20240418_115506

Thats a wing for the Mohawk, a Boomerang, Revive RC Avante shell (which will hopefully get 2011 Avante stickers) for the TD4 and a Stadium Blitzer shell to go on a used BB chassis I have and intend to modify.

Masking the Stadium Blitzer for full box art was quite a job, inside the truck bed sides, for example (and I realised after finishing that I did a bit the wrong colour too - the strip beneath the windscreen. D'oh! I might do it on the outside, or vinyl/tape/sticker).

I don't own any Kyosho re-res, but I am pretty happy with what the Rampage comes with out of the box (aluminum threaded shocks, sway bars, aluminum motor mount, hex screws).

Their Fazers feel a little cheap though, they're not far from a TT02D in terms of what you get, very plasticy with no adjustability, but at least it's nylon and hex screws.

I’ve got a Beetle NIB waiting on me, be nice to have a couple more to sit alongside it when it eventually gets built.

I’ve hovered over the BIN button for the Rampage more than once, alongside the Mad Van as well, but they are bit on the expensive side for me and hard ones to justify when I’ve got more than enough RC sitting idle in boxes 😂

I've now idea how @Re-Bugged gets such amazing airborne shots, whilst I struggle to take a photo of a simple wheelie!

Im a bit mixed on the Mad Van myself, I'm usually not a fan of buggies or monster trucks that are based on touring car platforms.
