What happens when you have a battered old shell sitting around, and a buggy that needs a new bodyshell. Does this count as a "rally car" by any chance?

I also drove the turbo taxi long enough to hit its LVC, its pretty fun even if it's about as slow as a Grasshopper.

@naturbo2000 Your cars all looked so good! Big fan of the Super Madtute

Yeah me to @naturbo2000. I think it was also your Avante I was marvelling at.

I'd love to have a car from the Madcap/Astute series. They just look so great when they're running.

Daughter saved for CVAs for her Lunchbox, good fun helping her build and fit them then test drive round the garden.

My son has been saving up and got himself a Lancia 037 for his first rally car, he built his ball diff at the same time and well underway :)

Rear diff bearing failure on the Mid this afternoon.:(

AP1GczPVLiiyle7OI_UPDIOktIR1SM8ySmGiuHnM

Replacement means splitting the case and since this is belt drive, most of the car will need to be disassembled to access the diff.  What a pain!

It's odd because the bearing was a fairly new Avid rubber sealed unit.  They just don't make them like they used to.  The original metal shielded bearings will last virtually forever.

I've noticed that the drive cups are just about shot shot as well.

Is that an original Mid or re-release?

It's mostly original built from leftover parts.   A junk yard special.

She's got a few miles on her.

Today I mounted the motor on my MB01 in the higher position. If it runs better this way, I'll shorten the wires and put the controller next to the motor. There's now plenty of space and it could improve the balance.

Somehow with the higher motor position it reminds me of those hovercraft boats. 😀

Today?  Joined this forum......cleaned up the TT-02R from Thursday night racing and got my dirt TLR ready for racing tomorrow.......

Further contemplated getting an Optima Mid reissue and slapping a 13.5T in it and campaigning it at the local track against modern buggies just because......but I'm not sure if there is enough parts support for the breakables to make it realistic.

Had a good long think, and started compiling vehicles I might sell. I've realied I don't have the time to play, or place to display the 16 or so cars I have.

I've got about 6 that would make up a pretty comprehensive collection in terms of my 'needs'; essentially one crawler, one trail truck, one SCT etc.

I don't want to clear out trucks and end up buying more to fill the gap, as that is just burning money, but one the same hand I've got three QD buggies and three QD monster trucks, and I can only drive one at once...

Often I make something to think 'could I do this' more than having it in itself, if that makes sense, so to fill a creative urge more than a gap in the collection, hence more than I need.

Most will be on sale here, as frankly eBay is not worth the hassle or time, so expect some bargains.

In doing this I will also spend a little more time hoping up what I have, and doing better paint jobs, interiors etc.

Exactly What I've done this year. Much happier with the 6 or so vehicles I'm keeping rather than chasing parts for future builds that don't end up happening....

I'm debating on selling my Fazer for that same reason, it looks neat but I can't jump it or run it over any big bumps. It's either it or the Redcat Lighting, and I kinda prefer the Redcat in all honesty.

Yeah. I liked running things on track but i gotta drive there and just additional hassle just to run stuff. Rainy weather also does not help lol. Been enjoying gf-01 a lot.

I think the other take away is that it's not a failure if you sell, even if you make a bit of a loss. The process of making was the point, not the ownership of the object in the end.

That being said I'd rather sell here, with the hope they may be appreciated, than sell on ebay and stripped back for parts. Perhaps it is the object then, just not owning it that's important.

And yes, watercolors would have been cheaper, but that's not where my 'talent' lies. I find the mix of aesthetic design (chosing bodies, wheels, colours, liveries) and mechanical problem solving really speaks to my skills. It is also why I don't paint interiors and rely on a cartoon cat!

Funnily enough I used to make drum kits, so this is much much much better for all involved.

I test drove the "Mad Kluge" today, other than some tire rub in the back it drives fine with the Tamiya bodyshell on it. I dunno what to call this thing though, its neither a rally car (unless if we toss scale out the window, nor quite a stadium truck since its 4wd with a car bodyshell on it.

Finally finished the overall assembly of my new Super Hotshot (without electronics). So I took some pictures of it with my very first Tamiya: the DT-03 (The Bat Mobile).

Did a little work on this, my team associated / element / thunder tiger / traxxas / tamiya (wheels) monster truck.

n72MgDG.webp

I am thinking of another body colour although this looks quite cool. Originally this was made for the Pumpkin wheelbase but that shell is too heavy and I can't find a lexan one.
