Spent the evening mostly watching the kid put together his new TT-02 (Ford Escort Custom - hello ). Frankly pretty surprised by the dampers - bit of a shock, if you will. "But, but ... there is nothing in here!" And so .... much... plastic. :D

Spent the last several days designing Lancia wheels that are designed for HPI VTA tires with the 26/31 staggered width. Did a version of the 3-piece style wheel for the front (rattle can started spewing goo and ruined the finish so that's being remedied) and am doing a 1-piece/forged version for the rear to match the front as well. After much stubble pulling (I don't have much hair anymore) trying to place rhyme or reason to the different wheels 037's used, it turns out that they used the 3-piece style f/r for tarmac racing and the forged wheels for more abusive courses, sometimes 2 sometimes 4,  so I'm thinking I'll use slick tires and the 3-piece version on all four corners as they just look so snazzy.

Got the SS’s bolted back together with its new aluminium chassis & nerf bars, really stoked and I’m glad I trimmed it the sides down a bit. Treated the wheels to some 303 Protectant while I was at it. Apply it with an old paint brush made it much easier.

It was going to be so easy. A quick build of my second Group C chassis on a quiet Sunday afternoon. After, to coin a phrase, “ going a bit @TurnipJF “ on the first one this was going to be kept completely stock except bearings and pinion but I didn’t do a proper stock check. All of my spare pinions are the wrong size and I’m short two 1280 bearings. Everything’s ordered now so I’ll be able to continue next weekend.

This chassis was to have the Jaguar body on it but unfortunately L&L just refuse to engage about the missing part from my order and it has rather taken the shine off of the whole thing. I’ve had to go through my bank to try and get some response. Oh well, I suppose it won’t affect them much, it’s not as if a RC hobbyist is prone to spending huge amounts of money on a whim!

Also had mixed feelings about L&L. I've spent north of 400 quid in different purchases over the past year. Mostly they arrive the next day... But sometimes he forgets to puts some bits or are the wrong ones. I'm still pending a return of 21 quid that I keep chasing, but no reply...

I seem to recall the stock pinion is already steel and 14t, which is fine with the kit supplied Sport Tuned. Did you get a bare aluminum pinion in your kit? I did get my own but that was because I wanted 13t.

Also the black plastic bushings inside the diff are quite acceptable since you want some friction in a diff anyway. I also run the bronze bushings in the front wheels and quite like them! I'll get bearings to simplify maintenance at the next PJ order. Right now I have to wipe and oil them every time I ran the car that day.

Sorry to hear about the issues with L&L. He refunded me after never sending me my package, but it took a couple of months and I had to track him down on Messenger. Have you tried that?

Looking forward to another Group C on here 😀

Thanks for the idea, although maybe not directly replied towards my message, lol. I do have him on Whatsapp, and acknowledges... but then doesn't send the refund! cheeky!

Oh sorry I got confused as to who was having the issue.

It's annoying for sure. And I bet the only time you ever have to fight to get your money back... Needless to say I will never go through L&L again.

I didn’t even check and just assumed. This is great news!  Thanks a lot.

Yeah, this was a large order and everything else was fine. Lee was very quick to reply at first but as soon as I started wanting some action (just posting the wing, nothing more) everything goes quiet. I can’t see me using them again which is a shame because they have some interesting stuff. It’s also a shame because I’ve had such good experiences with other stores, SC Models and Wonderland have been great.

Sums up my two experiences with l and l. I won't use them again either. Took me 5 months to get a refund for something that was showing as in stock, but actually wasn't I had to get Paypal involved in the end

Oops, I was wrong, having bought and used Robinson Racing steel pinions but I just found the kit one in it's original bag and it is indeed bare aluminum. Probably a good idea to replace it, especially since it is very exposed on a pan car. For what it is worth I really liked 13t with the ST motor and the car was extremely fast already (on 2S).

Thought I’d mount the shocks tonight on the BB, alas thwarted by lack of BC5’s…4x6mm Flanged tubes, need 8 only had 1 😂

Been through my spares and kits, nope.

Ordered a pack now, hopefully they’ll be here for the Saturday 💥

I've used them only a handful of times and never a problem, but there's seems to be loads who have. Real shame as they supply bodies that are fairly decent and plenty of choice.

They really let themselves down with the customer service ie refunds🙄

Do they make the bodies or are they just a supplier?

Got some stickers on my Supershot bodied TD4. Very pleased with how it's come out.

Cannot recommend rcdecals-2 on ebay enough. Loads of choice, including non-boxart colours, clearcoated and [drum roll] die cut!

The metal driveshafts for the Jimny arrived, now it gets around the yard without any trouble. It could probably use some wheel weights but I like it as it is so far.

The TB04 pro has a body. Still need to trim posts and do something about the wing mirrors as I absent mindedly screwed them up (cut them off the sprue at the wrong place).

Some of the stickers on this are as hard as the Integrale!

As Donna Filippo was out shopping and the kids were doing kids' stuff, I took the Wild One to the park. The car ran well and hopped around in it's usual manner. The Torque Tuned motor got really hot in a very short time, which annoyed me a bit. Otherwise a good driving session. :)

Back in to RC again over the last few months after a few years away - I like all Box Arts but when  I have a blank canvas the devil in me comes out -  so this Sumo Power shell got the new colour scheme!

I noticed in preparing this car for the Tamico offroad cup at Kinzigtal that the gearbox had a lot of friction. It wasn't smooth when I tightened the screws that hold the gearbox together all the way up.

As I was a bit in a hurry I didn't look into it further but just loosened the screws a bit. That helped enough to keep the temperature of the TorqueTuned around 45 °C after a 5 minute track session.

I ran the Fazer for a bit, even with this terrible tire setup (dry old slicks up front, cheap no names in back), it handled better than the Lightning. It just gradually goes into a turn and grips, the Redcat will randomly either grip or throw its back end around.

I also drove the turbo taxi for... I dunno how long, a half an hour? I'm surprised at how many miles to the volt they get.
