I've finished painting the Datsun 240z Fairlady. After my first impression, I'm happy with the combination of PS55 and TS7.

Looks great! Did you do PS-55 on the outside first, and then TS-7 on top of that? As for the windows, I'd go for PS-31. Stickers always fall off. :)

Fixed the issues I encountered at the Tamico offroad cup in Kinzigtal on my Terra Scorcher, finally

Thanks! I painted two thin layers of PS55 on the inside, then four layers of TS7 and finally two layers of PS1.

Lately I've been driving an older Rustler here and there. I'm surprised that Traxxas hasn't re-relased this body to cash in on the re-re craze. You can still buy these wheels.

What issues dud you have with it? I see you have taken out the rear stabilizer, which I think is a good idea when the corners are open and speed is high (aeehm; as high as can be with a TT^_^).

What issues

I broke two lower suspension arms. Luckily I had 2 spares and then one of the other drivers mentioned they usually break when they reach the stop pins and suggested I put some o rings in the rear dampers to shorten them so the suspension arms couldn't reach the stop pins anymore. I did exactly that in the pits only to realize later I could also remove the tabs on the suspension arms so they don't reach the stop pins on the chassis and keep the full length of the dampers.

 20240524_221515.jpeg

That's what I did now, I also removed the o rings from inside the dampers and refilled them. One front and one rear had leaked quite a bit so redid the seals with green slime. Since the suspension arms can't reach the stop pins anymore I haven't had any breakages anymore!

Another issue I had was that on 2 occasions the nuts on the damper stays were lost during a race so I had to stop because the damper wasn't connected to the chassis anymore. I changed the flanged nuts with lock nuts on all locations now.

20240524_221446.jpeg 20240524_221440.jpeg

I also finished the driver, before it was a completely blue body and a white helmet with a red stripe. Now it has some white stripes on the body, brown gloves, some flesh on his faces and eyes so he can see where he's driving :D

20240524_220510.jpeg

I have new spare suspension arms on order (to be sure) but also tried if my idea of the zip tie would work. I filed a groove and drilled a hole so the zip tie prevents the suspension arm to get off the hinge pin.

20240524_221534.jpeg

This one is marked Left Front and Right Rear and fixed so the zip tie won't reach the stop pin on the chassis. The other one (still working on that) will be fixed so it is a spare for the Right Front and Left Rear.

It's been a while since I've been on here (college has a way of doing that) but came back with a new toy today. A local gentleman was selling some nib kits from his collection for a very reasonable price and I found one that I've been eyeing for a while. Little to say I have a slight hole in my wallet and a box in my hands with a big ol smile on my face:D

Today I started working on the stickers for the Datsun 240z Fairlady. For me personally, handling the stickers is the biggest challenge in our hobby, I think. My next rc car body will be painted in more detail again and will have fewer stickers. 😅

Of course I had a few happy accidents with the stickers, but at the end of the day, the joy of crafting is what counts (following Bob Ross) . 🙂

Bashed about with a brushed 2wd Stampede at a mates overgrown garden, was still good fun!

(I was going to take my Wild Dagger but I didn’t want to scratch it!)

Started some testing on a J Concepts RC10 body for my RC100 CC BlockHead Motors paint splatter body.   Ran out of PS-29, so will need to make a run tomorrow and continue on.

Using a new technique and using a toothbrush to splatter the paint.   I like this method a lot and it works well.

Yes, my mind and my soul are in the 80s.    Forever.    All of my kits in my showroom follow a contemporary/80s/miami beach color scheme.   :)

When I was a teenager, I had a Hornet, and I had the Parma lexan Grasshopper body for it, which I ran in paint splatter theme with a pink backing color.     I also had a VW Beetle body in lexan that I did the same with and mounted on the Hornet chassis.

I couldn't help myself I started the green.   I will likely do the yellow tonight and then do another round of pink tomorrow.   Ordered a nose plate from Shapeways.

Today I learned that I did not in fact glue my only set of VTA tires onto their wheels 15 years ago... hadn't even bothered to check, just assumed. Luckily I did bother to check and got to swap them over their new home...

I got some Super Hotshot spare wheels and oval block tires for the boomerang.

I put them on the boomerang and the gold didn't look so great so I decided to remove the gold paint, the chrome suits the Boomerang better than the gold.   The gold comes off very easily too;

That was not exactly today, but was yesterday...

I went to Montluçon to a vintage event organized by the "Mini Racing du Centre" : Montluçonnaise 2024. I loaded the car on Friday morning, including a set up to allow me to sleep in... About 21 cars made the travel this time, and that's far from being all my cars - I did not have enough
gbOmo8h.jpeg

On Friday evenning, I ran a few laps with my Fantom, and went to sleep after enjoying some time with the few people present...

Next morning I set my stand with all my cars... (one was still in a box - and not restorted yet. It's a gp car, and I handed it to one of the wizards - I should get it back during one of the next vintages)

There was many people, and this time it was mostly GP cars with some very very nice cars... If I'm not mistaken, older cars were from 1977/1978

Unfortunately, the offroad track was not in nice state this year due to the recent frequent rains : Last year the track was without grass, and this year the grass was a bit too high for 1/10 electric cars... I only used the Lunchbox and the Big Bear on the Off Road track... And for the onroad, the Fantom is still my favorite, and it ran quite a bit again...
