Not exactly today, the dust is now settled... Yesterday, I spend a nice day in Belley, during a vintage event "La Belleysanne 2014" organized by the local club. The event was 40 minutes ride from my home, and the load did not include as many cars as within Montluçon twoo weeks earlier...

I had my son with me, and while he only took his lunchbox and the Fantom to run (I'm replacing ming with a CXT Gold which I need to assemble for next vintage event with a real track, not a pacman), and he really targeted to take pictures...

We first settle our table. The organization team set a double table for us, as they know I generally come with quite a few cars...

Once the stuff was in place and lipos charging, I took the time to take pics of the other tables...

There was also an exposition part...

I took the pics early in the morning and the last empty tables were taken a bit later, but I did not thought about taking pictures... It was a lot of fun, I broke a few parts, and except the Zerda and the Wild One all the car ran quite a bit.

And there was a few lessons learnt:
- While MJF was perfect for this, it seems than SLS did not work perfectly for the Super Wheelie suspension shaft pivot ball as they got free during a big jump... The car continued working like a charm but with a very different attitude... I may need to think about a solution for this (I have an idea in mind, easy to deal with)
- The Mitsubishi suspension with shocks is super smooth compared to the original spring of the Super Wheelie, to the point it appears easy to run fast... But I was a bit too fast and snapped a knuckle (at full speed) because I was not too much carefull... I'll replace it, and there was no other damages, although the car made a nice looping on the shock with the track side which crossed the track...
- The Hirobo Hilux with printed parts ran like a charm. And it was really amazing : while the car is short and very lively, it runs smoothly, appear well balanced on jumps and it is joy to use. And it runs quite silently with no belt skips

Again a lot of fun... I may share action shots later on (my son took a lot of pictures, and there is quite a good number of nice action shots).

EDIT : shared a lot of pictures on my facebook page in few publications. You may find them here if you have a facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555214226826

Made a start on my Grasshopper beach buggy build. Lots of Grasshoppers about so don't think I'll do a build thread. I'll see...

Today I prepared a BlackFoot Re-re based "Monster 2CV" that I'll give to a friend. As it didn't get much use, and as each time I see my friend we talk about RC but he doesn't get started...

Build it up with Old-School electronics, but hey, we all started with 26-27 Mhz, so why not? :)

Tested this afternoon, works fine so far.

You can't do that to a pair of tyres, entice us with funky shocks and then deny us a build thread!

Today I came home to a delivered Turbo Optima and some truly bang on stickers from MCI. Very happy with this 🤩

On another note, I also got the chance to bring the Manta Ray to a beach, albeit minuscule. First time on sand for her in all these years. Still have to sort out the photos and footage.

@silvertriple those vintage oriented club events you go to sound like SO much fun. I wish I could partake. Well done going with your son and all those cars, gotta make it worth the while! Everything looks great, so many interesting and cool cars to look at besides all the action.

Aua. Which pinion size were you running? I have ran 13t in my Thunder Dragon on 2,2" which should equate to 15t in a Hotshot if I'm not wrong.

I had the same 2 weeks ago with a Silvercan in my Thunder Dragon on 2S LiPo. My son were sliding and doing donuts for 20 mins. We got the magic smoke and now there is only sparks inside the can when applying throtle.

I had a steel 17T pinion gear attached to the Sport Tuned motor with Dual Block Tires (54185/54186).  The battery was just a plain old NiMH 7.2.  I was driving it around on some thick trail tterrain with lots of loose bark and tree fragments which may have caused the motor to work a little harder.  A new Sport Tuned motor (silver version) is on its way which should arrive  later today.

I fixed the pinstriping on my Zahhak RC10 tribute. Originally painted them and got the color all wrong. Much happier now thanks to MCI.

If that old radio works use it, that looks so cool never seen one before.. does it work though??

The radio is missing its antenna, and it is a 27mhz AM frequency, so i have no way of testing it.   I can, however, gut it and add about $70 worth of parts to make it a 2.4ghz 4 channel futaba s-fhss compatible radio, with epa and atv and servo reversing..

Sweet lil' thing ... (do I have a soft spot for beetles? Oh yes!) What sort of car is it, actually?

That would be an old-school bolink digger 1/12...  not to be mistaken for the bolink digger 1/10.  I had one as a kid.  sometime in '76 or '77

Are you sure that's for an RC car, not some device from a 1970s Bond villain's lair, used to fire a giant missile or direct a laser at 007's testicles?

That, my good sir, would be a 1976 era Futaba FP-T 2F transmitter.   The VERY FIRST steering wheel based r/c surface radio available for sale in the USA.

I've been doing quite a lot of random RC stuff the last week or so. Some random maintenance, going back to long set aside projects etc.

It's just really nice to have a bit of enthusiasm again after a long period of dormancy.

I would just run the newer radio, the old one is neat for novelty, but whenever I run my RCs I prefer having good control to avoid any incidents. That's why I don't run MSCs, I don't want my expensive toys taking off on their own!

My plan is to gut the radio.  I would put hall sensors in place of the pots, as well as an arduino to generate the ppm signal for a 3rd party module that would output futaba s-fhss 2.4ghz protocol for the receiver.  It would also allow me to add epa, centering and reversing for all the channels, as well as 3 position and 2 position switches, making the radio 4 channel.

Well I don't know what was going on with the forum yesterday but it's back up now. After running the FF01 through a couple batteries both shock towers gave up the ghost, so I CAD modeled and 3d printed new ones that are much more robust. I also got my new GT-5 transmitter setup with all my cars to replace my old GT-2B. No more rebinding and retrimming cars all the time! :D

What is that red one, the hot rod? It looks cool. There was another one on the tables, a bit cartoony, looked like it had Gaston Lagaffe at the wheel.

The Tomahawk looks the part on the track, very nice. :) And lastly, do you have any idea what sort of body the Mini is?

the red one hot rod and the one on the table which had Gaston Lagaffe at the wheel are custom builds made by their owner. The Morgan is also custom built by the same guy...

The Mini body is a M-chassis body, but it is not from Tamiya. It bought it during a vintage meet so not exactly sure where it came from. It might be coming from L&L models, but I'm not sure. The chassis under the body is a M-05.

Yeah, I was thinking they were scratch built. Always fun to see what people come up with.  And the Mini, I am always on the lookout for Minis ... :D

I bought a Sand Viper project today - £17.95 delivered 😳

We’ll see if it turns up and what it looks like when it does 😂

No wheels or electrics….
