I little bit naughty as I am meant to be reducing by collection, but could not resist

https://www.applianceelectronics.co.uk/viewproduct/20165/funtek-cr12od-cr12-od-112th-scale-rtr-crawler-ftk-cr12od?_gl=1*1vaz0au*_up*MQ..&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkNiu-NLahwMVlZNQBh1SdwiIEAQYASABEgKfavD_BwE

Funtek CR12 for £50, a huge reduction. It has got components in common with the thunder tiger/pubg CR12, so we will see how it goes.

Tested out the TL01 Stadium Raider with the buggy wheels bought from @Grumpy pants they work perfectly, but the 3100kv motor on 2s is way to fast for its little narrow footprint.

Then the steering servo seemed to strip, The wheels suddenly set themselves locked a quarter to the left, but they still turned  left and right with input, and I cold reset them straight by hand without  any resistance but the steering still worked both ways 🤣

Either way I ran out of time so need to revisit this issue, any TL01 experts know if I can remove the servo without splitting the chassis in half please?

Ok I answered my own question and found a snapped servo saver ring causing the issue ❤️

Working on the lathe I bought. I can really use it for some projects I have in mind, but it needs a good refurbishment first.

Cleaning up the dust and rust, respray of all black painted parts. The bed is looking better already but still some way to go on the spindle axis and motor.

Did a clean of the twin motor 4WD TCR-M. Also decided to change its WB from 210mm to 225mm as I bought a new body for it.

e1RChDo.jpg

Changing the WB on this is really easy as the front and back are independent of each other.

However the old 'body shocks' will not work with the new distance so I dig out some rubbish GPM 87mm big bores from the spares box to put on.

DnZhiaN.jpg

#1000 shock oil and a massive amount of preload with the hardest springs, it feels really nice now. Also swapped the Deans out for XT-60 while I am at it.

Hi Alvin,

been a while since I was on the TC forum.   Project is looking good.  Are you using a single ESC?  How does a twin motor car handle, I have heard there are handling issues as sometimes the motors are not synchronized, especially on turns.

Picked up a used TA05 as a track basher.  I already have a shelf queen but never had a chance to drive it.  I can understand why everyone loves this chassis as it is light and well engineered (for its day).   Much lighter than my TT02R as my back up touring car.

Added electronics and drove the car straight as is. TA05 first day at track was horrible. Took it apart afterwards and found the front bald diff was missing the steel balls, the rear diff was too loose and needed additional diff grease, all four tires are not glued to rims and did not have sponge inserts. After breakdown, I added front aluminum universals and tightened the belt drive. New faster servo and tires ordered.

Practicing my touring  car skills with a silver can before I move up to a hotter motor.

Next drive is in two weeks. Wish me luck🤞

Added a threaded rod to stiffen the extended body posts on the Fat Fox, also reinforced the body shell ready for its first time racing on Monday.  All completed on the new workbench me and the kids built over the last few days!

After a bit of time away from RC I decided to build my RC10T but Im still waiting on the bearings to arrive (hopefully next week) so I’ve had to pause at the point the bearings are added very enjoyable to build I’ve used Schumacher ball joint cups instead of those awful white ones in the kit because they are just too brittle and an absolute pain to put on!

Today I've installed the electrics into my LWB Optima Mid build, and then had a play with the SKYRC Corner Weight System. This newer version is Bluetooth using a mobile app. Not something I'm really into (apps), but thought I'd try to get the buggy set up as best as I can.

After a little bit of time moving things around, I'm pretty happy.

Busy weekend, but found an hour to sit in our garden and compare the parts list between the XV-01 and XV-01T.

I’m getting ready to decide a way forward, which one I keep and which one I sell on.

Other than that, managed not to buy anything new, although there were some great buggies up for sale this weekend, all really good examples and very sensible money, Terra Scorcher, Wild One, Super Shot and a Top Force to name a few 😳

Yes, a 1060 with a y-harness. Meaning the motors are in parallel.

This one felt rather nice to drive, the balance actually felt right and turns really well.

A single ESC and separate “Y” harnesses for green and yellow?  Does that mean there is half the power to each motor?
Can you draw a simple wiring diagram for me to visualize

On the home straight with the Giulia body now 😃

With a twist on the world renowned ‘Alitalia’ rally classic’s for inspiration, and wanting to use Cobalt Green at some point in my life, this is what I came up with. Some of the edges aren’t perfectly sharp when viewed through my glasses but without them in natural ageing soft focus reality I’m am very happy how’s it’s turned out.

No, the motors go at the speed thet are supposed to go. Only when they are in series will they go at half speed. It is affectively the same power demand as running a single 13.5T off that ESC.

TBH, it is easier to see the harness and wire runs from this picture.

I did major service of TT-02. It is hard to believe, how dirty it was after month or two.

Super Stock motor was replaced by Torque Tuned. SS is nice in terms of speed, but it is really "unfriendly" on tight tracks and starts to be REALLY hot after a while, despite high RPM fan. I tried many times, but it always was the same: sooner or later motor burned and performance decreased a lot.

It is also really hard to control motor on non prepared tracks with low grip. Without throttle it almost stops car. It does not sound like huge issue, but magnets are so strong, that it is also hard to control on low RPM. You lift throttle, car almost stops in the middle of the corner, try to push throttle again and car "chokes" and then loose grip because power is available again.

I have it from antenna pipes set #53132, but it looks exactly the same.

Today I continued assembling my Top Force. Apart from the fiddling with the motor mount a lovely build so far.

That's an impressive result. Almost 3D-effect on the graphics - both with and without glasses ^_^

Serious stuff! I do admire people’s willingness to reach performance on one hand but on the other hand it also takes it away from the screwdriver and spanner in the shed/garage

I am from a motocross background but last raced at professional level just over 10 years ago and when I look at the sport now it has become a victim of its own progression as the original aspect that attracted dads and sons to the sport is long gone!  Entry’s are down bike sales are down bla bla bla! The cost of competition is out of reach to so many!

Still though I do tip my hat to you sir for your dedication! Cool stuff for sure!

Totally get what you are saying. I used to race 10th 2wd in the hey day of the mid to late 1990's, and things were much simpler back then. Modern buggies are very fast and therefore require a much more thorough set up to corner at high speeds. It's not for me. However, racing vintage buggies is. Although I'm not a technophobe, I don't really like integrating technology into my hobbies. But, I thought I'd dip my toe in with this and have a play. I'm not serious about trying to win, but it's fun having a dabble nonetheless.

Interesting what you say about 'dads and sons' in motocross. When I started buggy racing in 1991 is was pretty much all families that were racing each weekend. Now however, it seems to just be middle aged men and not families (as a general rule). I'm sure part of the reason for that is because the cars are so advanced that there is no 'stepping stone' into racing anymore. It's all or nothing.

Trimmed an A110 body for the XM01. Got in my 10k steps neurotically waiting for a can of paint days away because my two LHS's are on opposite sides of town. It's a 20 minute drive to Shop A, 30 minutes from Shop A to Shop B, then another 20 minutes home plus traffic,... so since I am so good at math(s) I order online and wait a week.

That Giulia is stunning BTW.

Took the BBX for a run and gave it an intensive clean afterwards. Really good car! I think my favourite RC so far.

My kind of guy!! Great to hear your perspective from a RC stand point. Your out of reach comment aswell is spot on and inline with motocross.  Again not having a dig at anyone here but if little jimmy was to search you tube looking to get into RC with his Xmas money it just seems impossible.

technology and progression are inevitable but my personal opinion is it will be the slow decline for a lot of are beloved pastimes
