Unfortunately, I discovered a crack on each upper arm where the screw pin goes in, can't tell if it was already there or it happened when I put the screws back in. It still drove ok, but the arms are probably on borrowed time. I might try and do a @kontemax style wire repair just to try and get some life out of them.

I used brass wire used to weld and create the old battery power packs.
1 mm brass wire and 1 mm drill tool.

Found a NIP 20T pinion in my spares, which can be used in the XV-01T, a small £ saving, but none the less pleasing as it uses something up I already have 💥

Even though it is nice to utilize what you already have, I am sorry to inform that the smallest pinion that goes on the XV-01 is 21t. Back into the drager it goes^_^

Thank you much appreciated Andreas 😎

I’m pretty sure the manual said 20 & 21 for the T version, I’ll double check 👍

Aha. Maybe the T has a bigger spur (but that can't be much, since it's tight already under the cover with the OE one).. Then the pinion will mesh. On mine (normal version) it was a tight fit with the 21t. Not a problem, but a 20t would not had got a good enough mesh there.

I thought it might be to do with the T having bigger wheels, they look like CC01 wheels and tyres to me.
I’m pretty sure the spur is the same between the 2 chassis’.

I finally got around to installing the bent lower arms in my CR01 Unimog 406. I gained a bit more ground clearance.

I've been absent for a bit, but I've been working on building a Garden Office which I hope to also treat as an RC workshop / tinkering place, having endured 10+ years of keeping all my models in a shed and my tools in various places around the house, which I'm sure resonates with many of you. This meant I sometimes didn't have the motivation to get everything out, find what I was looking for, spend a small amount of time spannering and then tidy everything away again. The thought of going through that process, after a long day of work, made me not want to bother at all. This has meant the stagnation of so many projects and mentally, lots of procrastination about just "selling up" and moving on.

I'm glad I didn't do that, and I'm ever grateful for the opportunity to have been granted a garden office, subsidised by my employer.

Within a week of completion, I had ordered 4x IKEA Besta cabinets for display and storage of what I estimate to be about a quarter of my collection (!)

I hope this means more content from me in the future, with the ability to spend more time actually working on my models, rather than tidying and locating / storing parts and tools constantly.

No, the motors go at the speed thet are supposed to go. Only when they are in series will they go at half speed. It is affectively the same power demand as running a single 13.5T off that ESC.

TBH, it is easier to see the harness and wire runs from this picture.

Thanks. I would like to try this one day

I think you are right @Andreas W

The XV-01T comes with 2 pinions in the kit 20 & 21T, however the manuals says use the 21T, there is no mention of the 20.

The XV-01 comes with 22 & 23T pinion and says use the 22T pinion.

The spur gear is the same 68T in both kits.

With the paint having finally cured on my latest racing teapot, I could start adding accessories.

Stickers, lights and the obligatory googly eyes still to add.

Having a dedicated space will make a huge difference @ChrisRx718 , it certainly did for me. Just the convenience of being able to pick up from where you left off at any time when the mood takes makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

Excellent choice on the cabinets 👍🏻 Storage & display, what’s not to like 😁

Just looked up XV-01T manual on Tamiya’s website @Grumpy pants & @Andreas W , looks like it takes 21t pinion to 29t with the kit supplied 68t spur…

IMG_8257.png

Hope that helps fella’s 😉

If you have a bigger Spur in your spares box GP, maybe that would work with your 20t pinion?

Thanks @Re-Bugged, super helpful 👍

I’ll stick with the 68T spur as I’ve got those and looking at the chart ⬆️ I’ll buy 21 & 22T pinions to cover the Truck body/wheel combo and the Focus/rally option.

Really need to finish the grasshopper 1st 😎

Well, it was yesterday...

I ran TT-02 for about 1h. I do not remember, when I ran RC for such a long time without issues.

It seems that Torque Tuned motor with 22T Pinion matches perfectly to area where I run it. It feels slow on straight, but on track like this it feels really "lively", despite this is only weak motor with NiMh.

Probably I need to think about better tires and have two sets: one to get used to track and clean "Racing Line" from dirt and second, with much more grip.

Unfortunately I found that one of NiMh packs is probably around being dead. I charged all of them around 5 hours before runs. Two packs were really powerful and one was almost like flat since start. I will try to charge them again and if it will be the same again, probably I will throw it away.

As it’s been raining most of the day, so I thought I’d check out a spot for some night shots of the finished Giulia on its XM-01. I’ve deliberately not installed the fragile wing mirrors for now as it’s going to be run, and the front body posts are on the long side until I’ve checked the wheel clearance as well. Mud flaps are also on the cards at a later date. I don’t think it looks to bad with the Mini lite wheels, but there are a set of some proper Giulia wheels clad with road tyres for pavement duties. Looking forward to finally going for a spin…

Today I've stripped my Heavy Dump Truck down so I can split the gearbox halves and replace them due to cracked shock mounts.  Almost half way there after lunch, I'll swap the gearbox innards over to the new parts after work then attach the rest of the parts back on.  It's not too bad a job actually, a lot of the assemblies can stay together....

Looks great. What sort of dampers do you use? I like the driver setup, really sturdy. :)
