So its Mummy was a Boomerang and its Daddy a Bigwig?

A forbidden love! No wonder Taiyo had to adopt it.

Slightly redundand post, as somebody might remember this from the first time I posted it 2 and a half years ago, when I last visited my folks here in Italy. But most of us are keen on some good old nostalgia, so why not!

My good Nonno (grandpa) got me this when I was about 8 years old. It magically survived all life events to this day (remote excluded).

I (re)present you the 1:12 Cobra Turbo from the Italian brand Re-El Toys!

Always loved the Kyosho-esque rims on this car

I'd love to properly resurrect it someday

Fitted some alloy shocks to my Konghead today. The alloy shocks actually allow a bit more down travel over the kit friction shocks too. Keen to see how it runs now. Not that I had a real issue with the friction shocks, although a little jiggly and bouncy. I've also lowered the ride height a little as the alloy shocks have the screw upper spring seat, so it'll be quick and easy to raise up again if need be.

IMG_4735.thumb.jpeg.9731132450c4ed0fcd88c0ab242816ee.jpeg

My Dynahead kit also arrived on Friday. I've not started the build yet. But did grab the wheels and tyres out to do a comparo with the Konghead tyres.

They are pretty much the same diameter as the Konghead tyres, but lower profile and not as wide. They are also a much softer rubber. They also seem to fit the rims snugger. No foams or glue, same as the Konghead. But I can get the Konghead rims to spin inside the tyre when doing the wheelnuts up. This doesn't happen with the Dynahead tyres.

I also compared to some taller Prolines that I intend to fit the Dynahead, they are a lot softer again, more narrow and taller.

Cool. A real time machine. Graphics that could have been on a skateboard of that time. I think about the Caballero-deck, even though that was a dragon .

Am I right we see the outside here? How doesit look on the inside, if it's smooth there it could just be on the overspray film (hope, hope)

Otherwie I would suggest Tamiya or Revell lexan paint remover, wash it out afterwards and blow it dry, completely dry before respraying

Its just as bad on the inside, I cant understand how its happened. I sprayed it in the sunshine and I warmed the can up for 20 minutes in some warm water. I will try and spray the area I have sanded today tomorrow and if it still looks bad I will have to start again.

Got back to my Boomerang today. The project is mostly to CNC cut my own custom chassis, partly to fit nice bell crank steering, partly to get rid of the silly battery door, partly for small strength improvements here and there and partly just for kicks and to help me along my path to learning CNC for cutting sheet materials.

Im also finding cheap ways to make improvements like a four shock setup.

It's not there yet but it's not so far off now.

The body will probably be lowered a bit too, roughly as pictured.

@NUFCRc looks like fisheyes ie. contamination. Somehow the paint has reacted with itself or something foreign on the surface. Did you wash the body with soapy water before painting? Also did you paint in light coats? I would get another shell if they are cheap enough and try again.

I painted the Suzuki Swift body earlier today and when I got home from work the package with new bodyposts was in the mailbox. I have just removed the masking and overspray film and am satisfied with the result. Only one tiny bleeding to remove. Tomorrow I'll put on the stickers I want to use.

As other guy said - my first thought was contamination. Did you wash thoroughly with washing up liquid to dispel grease etc before spraying. Silicon spray / oils etc cause this type of thing.

Yeah buddy I washed it thoroughly and dried it also.

@BuggyDad the only explanation I can think of is that the difference between the rear and front rim is much more than the difference between the rear and front tire. Or at least enough to get the tire completely out of shape.

Is that Tamiya's PS-1 white?  If so I have had a few similar issues over the past year or two.  In 25+ years I never had an issue, and now suddenly I've had 3 bodies almost ruined by that one color doing some really weird things.  I kept wondering if maybe I had a couple bad cans of paint...

Today I finished stickering the Suzuki Swift body. I chose to apply only a handful of sponsor stickers,  since it is not boxart anyway. I am happy with the outcome. I had to replace the TG-10 axles and 9mm hexes with the original parts. They were simply too brutal for the body. I have ordered 4mm hexes for the front.

The FAV is now available on Amain, so I snatched one up today. That makes 3 new models on Amain this week for me (2 pre-orders) so it's been a great hobby week!

If the weather wants to work with me and not against me as it seems to do lately, I'll finaly have a go at postal racing again tomorrow. Therefore I prepped these two:

It will be their first(!) outing since the end of the duo build/rebuild I did.  (Apparently it was January I finished those??? Time flies)

Fitted CVA's to the 5yo's Midnight Pumpkin.

I assume lots of you appreciate the Midnight Pumpkin for what it is but I wouldn't pick it for a young kid again.

They crash a lot resulting in broken servosaver horns, broken shocks, broken body mounts and stripped rear suspension mounting points...

With a 45T motor.

A Mad Bull is certainly more durable.

But the Midnight Pumpkin is ready again. So let's go!

I went for one last run with the Lancia Delta up in the Alps, before we both have to pack up and get back overseas. This one was different with the first hints of Autumn, and a lot of fun. I ran it quite hard, and it came back with a few minor glory scratchmarks. I like how relatively good they feel on a scale race car, making it look all the more real!

Exhaust, wipers, mud flaps and antenna all survived well. The latter was blown off during a tumble, but was promptly substituted with a new one. All well worth the effort

This weekend was Tamico Offroad Cup at Laupheim. My friends, my father and I had a lot of fun in all the classes. We could achieve a podium sweep in the Truck class, 1st and 3rd in Retro 4wd, win the Retro 2wd class as well as the Wheelie class. Marco then also won the „best of show“ medal for his Truck and BBX paint scheme. What a day for @Sgt.Speirs, @Quincy, the guys and myself…

[First actual post here on the forum, but been registered since 2018...]

Spent a good portion of the afternoon reaming out holes and cutting out a spare TT01E Fat Fox body for future racing. Still needs some fine trimming done but it's 90% complete. Then after that will be masking for a few colors, then painting, then some stickers (NOT the kit stickers thankfully!)
