Quote of the day (it was actually yesterday sunday but whatever): "Now it really looks like a Ford!"

That was the excited words of an 8-year old after spraying the lexan body of the Ford Escort Custom. We spent part of the afternoon and most of the evening working on stuff related to the car. Somewhat stressful for dad but kid loved every minute of it, I think. For my own part the famous words "Better done than perfct" came to mind. :)

Took some photos of my Mercedes Benz endurance racers, including the newest edition - the recently completed TC-01 CLK GTR that my wonderful wife gave me for my birthday.

I went for one last run with the Lancia Delta up in the Alps, before we both have to pack up and get back overseas. This one was different with the first hints of Autumn, and a lot of fun. I ran it quite hard, and it came back with a few minor glory scratchmarks. I like how relatively good they feel on a scale race car, making it look all the more real!

Exhaust, wipers, mud flaps and antenna all survived well. The latter was blown off during a tumble, but was promptly substituted with a new one. All well worth the effort

Hey @Ferruz the Lancia looks gorgeous as always. What's your wheel offset there do you know? They fill the arches nicely, much better than mine.

I took my Mardave Meteor out for a spin :)

The shocks are spares I had in an old box - bought maybe 10 years ago and never used. Filled them with oil and they weren't bad at all. Running on a 2S LIPO - small one, 2000mAh so nice and light.

This buggy is a testament to Mardave it really is. I had forgotten how well it handles. There are no ballraces on the front wheels, it's plastic on steel, the gearbox is as basic as it gets, but the steering is bulletproof and the MSC is actually really good. Three speed via two resistors - OK not exactly efficient, but on a decent modern FASST TX/RX after a few minutes I completely forgot that it didn't have an ESC.

With better shocks I am convinced this would happily keep pace with my RC10. In fact, put RC10 shocks on it and you pretty much have a poor mans RC10 which I guess is exactly what it was designed to be.

<edit>Just wanted to add the diff works great too and steering circle on this thing is fantastic. I'd put it up against a lot of modern 2WD buggies frankly. The glory years maybe - peak 1/10 ?</edit>

Great job Mardave.

Constantly striving to improve the viewing experience of my hundreds of thousands of YT subscribers, today I laser-cut this camera support to mount on a trusty TA-02T.

poldA9nh.jpg

Hopefully it will give some interesting shots. Oh yes, and I bought a 2nd hand compatible aircraft transmitter, you know the ones the throttle stick stays in place so your motor can spin automatically :)

Thank you! I got those on fleabay about one year ago, they are a no brand generic replacement. I just went back to my past orders to check on the item, so I could give you the right info. The offset on these is a whopping 6mm 😅 sounds like a lot, and yet so much is needed to fill in those beefy arches.

Wheels and tires are good quality in my opinion, the design is ok too though no match with the originals. I wish somebody started making those with the right offset.

I ordered an Avante 2011 for my NIB collection today after finding a deal in the UK.  I was waiting for Tamico stock but found a better price here - much less hassle, and no annoying "handling fees"!

After successfully raising the height of my FF-03 for a rally build, I revisited my Carten T410 to do the same.

By inserting 5mm under FF and 2mm under FR, some minor trimming of the arms and hubs, I ended up with almost TT-02B like ground clearance.

Front - 23mm (block under guage is 16mm)

WcLUjh5.jpeg

The rear actually need to be lowered with the droop screws as it was very high when I first rebuilt this. Now it is sitting at 22mm, a better stance than it's previous nose down position. I also replaced the stock plastic RF with an extra 3R 1XC I bought for the FF-03. I intend to do the same for the FF and FT but for some reason, RR has different screw hole positions.

JOtITUQ.jpeg

I also raised the front bumper by 3mm to stop it from dragging it's nose on the ground. Finally I replaced the Jimny wheels as they were rubbing on the rear hubs with some plain Fastrax ones.

Tried to run TT-02 converted to RWD. Converted is probably too strong word, because I just removed front shafts.

Conclusion:

Do not do this :D

I thought that car will be nervous, but possible to run.

No.

Even touch of throttle when wheels were not straight, ended with 180 degrees slide. Probably on surface with more grip it would be better, but on average bit dusty asphalt, it does not make sense at all.

At least donuts were super easy to do :D

What is more or less ride height of TC-01?

I have mine set to 5mm at the moment, but it has a fair range of adjustability. With adjustments to the springs and droop screws, I reckon it can go from 0mm to 12mm or more.

I finished detailing my Wild One, this will probably be my last "big" RC project for a while. Straightforward to build, just a little awkward to paint the lexan bits.

Does Mr Penguin have a drivers licence? If so, would he be allowed to drive the Wild One?

(my idea was actually sort of serious: why not make a penguin driver?)

He does have a license, but it restricts him to only vehicles with mirrors on each side (so no buggies!).

I'll have to tackle that idea at some point, as soon as I have an appropriate car.

Skateparks are overrated, short course trucks are much more fun when you have a patch of dirt/gravel to run around in.

Enough bits have arrived to assemble the new expanded base for the CNC. Doesn't look like much, but universal fit universally fits nothing, and what I expected to be just a few minutes of 'swap this part for that part' turned out to be a few hours of hand tapping the ends of the 20/20 rails out to M6x1 threads. Eventually this will expand the El Cheapo 3018 (300x180 working area) 'engraver' I have out to about 300x480 and will be nice heavy duty aluminum with full linear rails and no longer bakelite and bendy rods. Actual work area will be a bit smaller due to the shape of the water bath tray but there will be more than enough room for TC and buggy chassis, likely even 1/8 scale should the need ever arise.

Baby steps.

I did a short trip to Vosgienne Vintage RC event yesterday... I've put everything in place and my lipos are going to storage mode currently. As usual I'm sharing few pics of the event (there might be even some vids later on)...
There was a lot of Manx TT from Loisirs Creations RC. We raced together for half an hour, that was a lot of fun!!
mcdEVDw.png
I was not alone with cars heavily relying on printed parts: you can see two cars of the following pictures, but it's clearly more and more a trend within the vintage events (mine were present but I did not thought  about taking a picture of my stand, as I was having only few cars this time)...

As usual in this event, the majority of the cars is GP and 1/8 or even bigger, although there is also a few of guys like me with electric 1/10 offroad cars...

The track is traced in the grass, and there is enough curves and slopes to have fun...

It was a great fun... already looking forward for next year events...

A few little updates, finishing off some Tamiya QD trucks and other 1/16 trucks.

tvEug40.jpeg

The red truck is a quick drive with a Tandy body, which is identical to the regular Pumpkin QD, other than that it's red. This got a coat of paint and some decals, but I might add more details and decals when I have the time. It is widened, brushless, modern electronics etc. The Yellow is a Taiyo Jet on a QD buggy body.

The red truck also works nicely with the BF19 I put together, and are both a similar scale. It might be interesting to race them, as have similar power units.

bruvQ1d.jpeg

I quite like collections that work nicely together, so it's nice to have a little 1/16th stuff again. Rounding off the 1/16 party I've also got these:

3LlpLAl.jpeg

I prefer smaller vehicles (especially monster or stadium trucks) as I can easily take to the park when I have time (which is never).

My little toddler is a little too scared of RC cars at the moment, but LOVES all vehicles, so when he's old enough I hope we can enjoy playing with these. I've got way too many, so he can have all my small scale stuff.

Growing up a car like this would have been a once-a-christmas and birthday combined present, so I might give them to him slowly, hiding them away until they mean something to him and he thinks of them as precious.

Today may be the last day with good weather before autumn sets in. So I gathered all my courage and started painting my Top Force body...

1000018952_141405.jpg.ec0f5fef7c0a72f42a19f96d04982ce1.jpg

Painting is definately not my favourite part of the hobby. It feels like a chore to me with an always unknown outcome. But this one turned out okay. And done is better than perfect!

PS17 backed with silver.

The car will be my winter build, so painting really had to happen now, and become a runner.
