I am sure we had a thread called something like "In One!" where we would show how we had cut a body shell in one piece. Can't find it now of course, but if I could, I would add this picture:

I have been following WRC a bit and it's nice when Tamiya makes the body of your favorite racer and it's actually available, and cheap. So I just had to get the Yaris body.

I'm not sure yet if I'll suffer through the 100-something stickers (then fear damaging the body...) or make a simplified runner version of it (and run it as it should be without any second thoughts). Hmm I sense another PS-54/PS-5 livery coming.

I am for a simple runner body. Especially given you are gonna run it in dust, gravel and mud (if you have that some time in Arizona :D).

I would go black above the lower window line and whichever color you feel for below. PS-54 is of course hard to get around^_^. Then you only need to apply the stickers for lights and grills and can save the window trim for another time.

If I am ever gonna need a body for running on a track with other people I am gonna do exactly that with maybe a Phat Bodies JCW or a Suzuki Swift.

I like how you think. I was actually going to paint the rear hatch and rear windows black as a minimum precisely to save the pain of doing window trims on those. Then minimal sponsor stickers. As you know the 'Pylon80' livery 🤣 is PS-54 on top and black on the bottom but hey why not invert these? The 2024 Yaris is mostly black after all 🙂

Painted my Suzuki Jimny shell today in between the heavy rain and gale force wind. It's turned out OK as well. You can't go wrong with tamiya spray paint (sorry Canada) 😐 🫣😬

I was excited for the TD4 and preordered it not too long after it was available to, and received it as soon as they started to arrive in the US, but for some reason I didn’t even build it till over a year later, and another year to paint it, and now I finally stickered it and put the body together :). Maybe I should wait a year before I run it

I've finished to build my LD spec XV01 in a kind of T version for fun riding. I still have to make some improvement on it as it's very tail happy on tarmac since I changed the TT motor for a justock 13.5 combo. It's also maybe because of the tires that are too hard. Does someone knows some similar tires that could fit with softer compound?
So now I will start a build tread for my TL01 LA that I'd like to ride on a carpet track this winter :)

Today I fnished my Sand Scorcher build. Just a couple of small touches to add but I'm pleased with the results. By far the most testing build to date.

Not much RC time for me in the past few weeks, but I'm back to the old playgrounds running the usual suspects with some bonus foliage 🍁🍃🍂

Also I got quite the itch for the Postal Racing again, which I am glad about. I'll try to find some time for it

Happy to read that. You'll probably make two rounds before the winter catches you up. Best of luck to you.

HS2

One of these things is not like the other. I love the Hotshot series and the Super Shot was always my favorite looking of the bunch. As I've aged, I think the standard Hotshot takes that spot in my heart now. Its just so iconic and balanced in its appearance. On the left is my first re-release from '07 and it still gets some use. I did dream of a Hotshot that was a bit less hampered by its inexperienced design quirks. For years I thought about adding Hotshot 2 suspension to the standard Hotshot but the prices/rarity of the red shocks and rear uprights/hubs kept that from moving forward. With the return of the HS2 and Super Sabre that issue is solved and so this weekend the Hotshot 1.5 was born on my workbench.

Nice! I can see that you installed a ball diff as well. Did you choose to go with the high speed or low speed gearing? I went with the low speed with mine since the pinion is steel and the high speed one is the soft Tamiya.

I also spent a lot of time bleeding the air out of the rear shock and reservoir line but the next day there were some bubbles again
