Had a Monday afternoon to myself so decided to start building my fighting buggy You forget how really good these SRB’s are to build everything just slots into place it’s making me want to get a buggy champ! I have some super champ mci decals which have been lounging around my decal draw for years which I’ll mix with the kit decals:)

Life took over, feels like ages since I posted anything.

Auxiliary parts painted and finally on.
Lamps, grill and rally lift points, still to come. Pretty happy how it’s looking. Final stretch. I aimed to have it done by years end. I have snow dusted , black ice, Monte Carlo running thoughts on my mind :-)

@technics - are the five-spokes the final ones? Sounds crazy thinking of running it after all that work - but on the other hand, not running it isn't much of an option either, right? :)

@JimBear I am undecided on the wheels I had planned for white wheels at first but I find photographing and taking a step back helps me decide. I just love the gold colour how it works with the body of either wheel.

It’s gotta be a rc at the end of the day I find that most exciting 😃. Scale running at least. I admit I do find it difficult to carve out running time, I’ve accepted I like building above all.

I prefer the five-spoke version - I find them less "busy". And indeed, you are a builder (with a big B, really). Always great to see your builds, and the attention to detail you manage to sustain.

@technics the car looks great 👍. Really nice attention to detail. The buggies and the kits like the monster beetle attracted me to tamiya but I enjoy building the rally cars now and making them as realistic as I can too.

I think you'll have trouble running this with all the effort you've put into it. I've got some cheaper bodies I put on for more enthusiastic runs. Much less stressful. 😄

@Terz1 hehe, It takes a little time for me to get emotionless.. I run my first rally build the WRC Subaru at full tilt. Next in line are the stratos and legacy builds.. for me I have to see a realistic car if I’m running at not at a buggy track 😄

@JimBear Thank you. It is rewarding when things start to work out after so much effort!

Run it!

This photo shows how Rally cars look after some time. They are not pretty and shiny.

There is not even one element, which fits to next one without issues :D

My wife gave me a funny look!

My mother thought it was a shrine!

My adult children laughed!

I want another one

Well, @svenb - I think that one would be a shrine to some sort of powerful (what else?) battery goddess, indeed!

I am not so sure it would have been approved of by my better half at JimBear HQ, but I think the kid would have been delighted. :D

I get the same reaction from my actual rc car collection! But we understand which is the main thing;) I have to say it is a very impressive collection! Also has to be the most unique collection I’ve seen;) I’ve seen people with a few batteries sitting with the car of that year of battery but never a whole cabinet of different batteries! Very cool and unique and all tamiya brilliant! :D

I haven't been running my RCs much lately, but I drove this one for a few minutes just for the heck of it.

Nice one. Doing real work. I actually saw a Kei truck here the other day. It was on Sunday in a typical "go for a drive in the nice weather-area".They are a rare sight here and are probably for the most on enthusiast hands. But in the mid 80s there were tons of Subaru and Suzuki vans in that size.

I’ve had a couple of days off work so I actually had chance to do some tinkering.

The TT-02sr carpet car got its new rear damper stay to match the front. I also messed about with the body mounts so it looks a little more like the big boys now 😆

Just a new bumper needed now. I think this time I might make some effort with the cutting and sanding.

It had a quick run outside, hence the tyres, but I really need to get back to the track to get it dialled in properly. Hopefully soon…

I also took the DB-01 out for a shakedown, I’ll update the build thread soon. The slipper clutch will not stay tightened and within a minute it was squealing away. Stopped, tightened, and went for another run only for it to happen again. I think I’ll rebuild it, maybe I did something wrong when it went in.

I finally got around to doing the GT3C firmware hack, I had been dragging my feet for years on this. What it's showing at the moment is it's on model #62. It can now save up to 62 cars. I have two more to flash.

Part of the push to finish this project is I have decided to take any RTR style RX/TX or other inexpensive 2.4g setup out of my fleet and donate them to the local hobby shop. So far, they will be getting 10 combos. They use them a lot during the holiday season.
