Nearly completed the FAV on Saturday, only to trip in front of the finish line - still need to paint and mount the tail lights:

After spotting that squirrel, I got another two bodies and a set of wheels done on Sunday - up to 21 now

Which one do you like more? XV-01 or XV-02?

Hmm, not easy to answer. I love driving the XV01 because it is particularly balanced and quiet. And because its movements when driving look so realistic. However, I think the XV02 is a bit better. It doesn't have a belt that slips when accelerating quickly, but it does have the option of a center differential. I drive the XV02 at higher speeds than the XV01 without any worries. 😎

Played the Stadium Trucks this afternoon with my brother, good fun :) The copper Toyota is a Desert Fielder with some Pre-runner decals, and the "Blitzer" is on a CC-01 chassis with working rear suspension and a Super Stock BZ. Sounds a bit crazy to me, but the TA-02T with a Silver Can is still a bit faster than the CC-01 with its "hot" motor.

The TA-02T is way more stable and nimble than the CC-01, and with very soft suspensions, quite realistic in its movements. The CC-01 is twitchy, more prone to rollovers with its high CG. But also more challenging to drive, and so realistic, with a bit of torque twist, in a pure solid axle fashion :)

Today was workspace day. Over my workspace, I have a 24ish inch magnetic strip. I ended up filling the thing with tools, and I have plans to buy more fairly soon. So, I took to Amazon. I found a 6 pack of 18" magnetic strips. They came with couplers to join the strips together, but they would space the strips away from the wall, and looked terrible.

I put my primitive 3d print skills to work and designed a coupler that would also make it look a little cleaner than just mounting them side by side.

The fun thing is the magnet insert in the center strip was offset to one side a bit. I had to make two separate insets to make it work.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

Also, hard to see but I mounted two magnetic strips on the shelving units on the left. I have an excessive amount of binder clips from 3d printing. I can put the clips on parts bags and then stick them to the strip for the builds that are in progress. Also, the mini Kobalt boxes are great for some RC stuff. The quality is mediocre, but they are pretty cheap.

Those look great, I love the use of sand scorcher rears on M chassis tires, works so well for this kind of thing!

I took out a couple more vehicles whilst the weather held.

VT5tzVG.jpeg

The white truck is a Nikko F10 with a proline body and hobby grade electronics, we all know the other one.

The Nikko behaved quite well until something in the rear gear box stopped working. Straight line speed was nice and handling was pretty good. Although it's quite monster truck looking  with a lexan body the COG is quite low, meaning it handles pretty well. However at the end of playing something went wrong and I couldn't get the wheels to turn, so something in the gearbox has broken I think. I've got a spare gearbox somewhere, but I am slightly losing my patience with these Nikko trucks.

The Pumpkin was great. It's got the UK monsters double wishbone front suspension, CVA dampeners and the rear axle mount. With the right dampening now it handles really well (for what it is) and was great fun driving, hitting the breaks for a quick 180 and then wheelieing away! Turning radius still a little poor, and I want to sand a radius into the corners of the front arches to stop wheels rubbing. I might explore the central servo bracket mount/mod, if that will help.

Edit: I should apologise to the Nikko, it was a grub screw that found its way into the motor that seized it all up, obviously running it knocked it loose. From what I've heard these gearboxes are pretty much bulletproof, so it will keep on running a little more I hope! It's not very refined, like hornet really, but has it's place. Might be good for the BMX track.

When I got my 206 WRC in March, it came with the wrong wheels and tires.

I finally corrected the wheels, tires and markings. Still needs running gear, but it's getting there:

I almost finished painting the Manta Ray today (this was the 3rd day)

Luckily I don't have a swear jar...

I got a lot of paint spots (it was a spluttering can)  in the clear blue paint on the window canopy and it also became too dark.

Half way through I decided to back the clear blue with white to lighten it , and I ran out of paint, I only needed a few more sprays and it would have been finished.

The weird thing is that it actually turned out amazing, the blue ended up being the perfect shade of blue that I had been looking for the previous day and I just need to wait for a new can of white to arrive and the rest should be easy.

Had a 13.5 brushless setup in my XV01 but if I want to run it in the local races I have to run a 25.5. So I decided to put the 13 in a F201 today, then made a few adjustments to a TC01.

Might be ... but if you had one, maybe you'd be able to buy yourself another Tamiya real soon now. ;)

In all seriousness, sometimes what's bad or difficult turns out good. But it is pretty hard to remember that in the midst of fighting the ten demons at the door.

Great cars!

Have a f201 also and love it! How is the handling of the TC01 compared to the f201?

I tried to run the Stampede but I couldn't get it to corporate, either the battery was acting up or I killed the ESC somehow while running an almighty NiMH pack. (Edit: The batteries were just low).

So, I decided to do some yard work instead.

I installed the rocket rc fan from surpass hobby on my Arrma gorgon. It's very powerful and works wonders.

Today I stripped down my XV-02 in readiness for converting it to RS spec.

I drove the Stampede finally...and nearly forgot how difficult these are to drive on asphalt without any setup changes. I tried adding weight to the front only to notice that it wouldn't jump as well any more, it'd just want to plant its face into the ground.

On another note, this very lightly used Stampede originally came with 3 Traxxas NiMH packs when I got it...now only one of them is any good. How do you make NiMH packs that expire that fast?

Got the Metal Dump all straightened out. Swapped out the crappy brushless setup from the PO with a Torque Tuned and THW-60-RTR like it would have come with. Then added the RC4WD MIL spec tires on Low Ride wheels:

Won't take much

Dampers, carbon stays and hard chassis! Is that all?

Disassembled XV-01 to service it after season. Despite I ran it for around 10 packs, I already see that it will be dirty job, mainly because of leaks from diffs.
