GF01TR body could work, 210 mm wheelbase.

Thank you — this is indeed a very interesting option!

Fitted some Schumacher road tyres to the Fire Dragon. Need to give it a run, I've not glued the tyres yet, want to see if they will stay on the rims ok first. Love how the Fire Dragon goes, but hate getting it covered in wet muddy grass this time of year. So I'll be sticking to some hard surface running and don't want to tear the stock tyres up any more than have done already.

Looked at my newly obtained Kyosho Scorpion.

Wow this thing is freaking gorgeous. All old school packaged up in blisters, unbelievable. I'm glad I busted down and got this, because I had no idea how cool these are. Wow

Fully stripped down the M05 v2 pro.  It had only had limited running on the driveway since buying from eBay back in the summer.  First visit to the track last week though it didn’t last long, multiple failures of ball studs bursting out of plastic.  My son was at the wheel and he’s pretty careful so I knew something was up.  Turns out the previous owner appears to have put loctite on all the ball studs (into plastic 🙄) and it had become very brittle indeed.

New chassis A parts and knuckles F parts as originals were beyond worthwhile repair.  Tomorrow we will rebuild and this time it will be fit for the track!

It's been a while since I worked on the VW Type 2 Van body. I am pleased to say that it is all cut up, drilled out and passed the test fit. This thing is so wobbly, I'm going to have to use the XL urethane bumper and carve it to fit the inside body contours.

Is there any aftermarket or 3D printed item to connect the front and back body posts for further stability? Preferably in an X shape?

Anyways, next step will be to mask off the windows, lights etc., and then apply some fun goofy cartoony stickers after painting.

Not today, but last weekend. We went to check out a new -to us- beach not too far from where we live. I saw sand and fall foliage together for the first time and was quite impressed at such contrast, really cool.

The four wheeled pet of choice was the Mad Van this time, and it did great 😊

Great photos 👏

How’s the MV standing up to the regular use?

Are you still enjoying it as much?

I think Yeah Racing makes some carbon body post stiffeners? I'd install some pads or o-rings around the holes too, keeps the body from bouncing around.

On my end I drove the Bigfoot some more, I'm still trying to troubleshoot a "studder" that prevents it from accelerating like it should.

Update: After some diagnosing, it turns out that the stock Traxxas battery is just a bit weak.

Oh yes! The Mad Van hasn't skipped a beat so far, I'm very happy with it. By now I can cautiously say that even that beautiful body shell is quite durable: it went through a few tumbles, but no harm to it. Apart from the Hornet, this is the only car that I've dared bringing to the beach, and to this day it has done great. One thing to notice, I run it brushed on NiMh, so nothing crazy in terms of power or speed.

Today I ran the Mid at the local park. Just one battery as after it got dark, so I might run it again tomorrow. What a buggy: no matter if it's building it, tinkering, running or just looking at it on the shelf, one is always in for a premium experience with the Optima Mid.

Yesterday I drove my XV02, XM01 and TD4. It was the first time for the TD4. All I can say is that it is a really good buggy. Maybe it needs a little more preload in the rear dampers. Otherwise I am very happy with my Super Avante.

My XV02 was dressed in its off-road outfit and was a lot of fun as always. I would call it Mr. Reliable.

And finally I drove my XM01 for the first time outside of the race track, with rally tires. A wonderful vehicle, my little premium runner. No action shots, but hot tyres. 🙂

I'm trying to do a different approach on RC control.

Offcourse, we all know the various transmitters we have and use, but I thought I'd try to make an RC control system using a bluetooth playstation controller and an Arduino microcontroller board.

This would be great for small RC that you can use in the living room or close to the house.
The many analog sticks and pushbuttons on a playstation controller, combined with the flexibility of the microcontroller's expandible and programmable functions, allow for various possibilities to control throttle, steering, lights, servo's and actuators, play sounds, you name it.
This would be a nice way to control the R2D2 Astromech I got.

Had a blast around our garden after cutting the grass with my Blitzer Beetle, very enjoyable, except that I seemed to hit every obstacle in it 😳, then started fitting the electrics to my XV-01.

I finally got round to building my second (stock) Group-C. I won’t feel as guilty now when the 956 finally turns up.

So there will be one stock, one Tamiya parts only modified and one where I go completely off-piste.

One strange thing. This second C11 kit had completely different tyres. Different feel and dimensions. Very odd.

We spent part of day outside, sunny and pretty warm for being November. The kid drove his TT-02 and then got the (yet) bodyless Group C out for a spin (see @Nick-Ws post above for nice illustrations of what it can look like ;) ). It was a bargain thing, pre-built. Oddly the previous owner put in a Torque Tuned in it, so I guess it isn't as fast as it should be - but still very nimble and a lot of fun. I had a feeling the tires ween't grippy enough on the asphalt, or something is up with the diff, since it was a bit slow on the throttle.

See if the diff wants tightening up , they don't have much grip on tarmac, carpet is good

Had my Clod project out for a test run today.

CB3 CB5

Its got some sway in that pic above and there's a reason for that. In the past few years I've working on improving some of my Tamiyas without wrecking their "look" or taking away too much character. This Clod's rockin' 15T Firebolts on 7.2v which is about as fast as I like to run stock configuration Clods and still maintain control. Oil shocks with very light dampening and a tub cut out for great gearcase clearance (and thus more travel) work out the bumps. Steel plates at the tub bottom keep it planted when returning to earth from a jump. Locked factory axle mounted servo savers, along with a big double ended Kimbrough saver on a metal geared servo in the chassis give much better response without axle mounted servos ruining the look. The steering geometry has been carefully worked out so the rear only slightly assist the front as seen below:

Well you know what it’s like,  9 unfinished projects, so I thought why not start numbers 10 & 11 🤦‍♂️

Not only the tires, the two cars even seem to have a different wheelbase even though they're build in the same way ??

Are those Carson wheels/tires on the Super Avante? How do they perform, not to hard?
