@Pylon80Dude you have no idea how much I miss the desert. I needed to see that. Thanks for posting that pic, looks like fun.

The M05 Ver. II part you are talking about is the 9804933 part from the 42300 set? And you combined it with a 39mm shaft?

I bought the complete 42300 set indeed, as that was the cheaper route. But the swing shafts must be 37mm for best fit (22054).

Since my previous post a few months back and going on holiday to Japan (visited the Tamiya Plamodel Store), I finally managed to complete 99% of the masking I needed for the M-06L VW T2 Van. Just doing all the lines and contours took so long to do, but bit by bit I got it done. All that is left is to mask the top off where the white paint goes, and then I can paint the bottom half in my color of choice.

While cleaning my $300-400 (or whatever) heavy duty basher, I discovered that T-word uses these flimsy screw-pins for the hub/a-arm hinges.

Yes I'm being nitpicking, I don't think the Slash 4x4 platform is bad per se, it's just cheaply made in a few areas for the price.

Lately I've been messing about with the front suspension geometry on this DT-02.  I really like the driving characteristics of this platform when things are sorted out well and I want to see how far I can push the envelope.  Next up are some 3D printed gullwing arms..

First test run with the new and improved CNC. He'll cut metal! Assuming I'm not a dummy who breaks his one appropriate bit by pushing too much linear speed...

The Grasshopper II chassis tub is not known for its stiffness, especially around the shock towers. The Rising Fighter uses the same tub and includes stiffeners for the front shock towers, with the screw- on bodyshell reinforcing the rear towers, and is a tough and reliable runner as a result.

When I built my Grasshopper II Black Edition, I fitted a pair of Rising Fighter front tower reinforcement pieces, but the rear towers remained stock, getting no reinforcement from the clip-on bodyshell. That is until today. 😁

To reinforce the rear towers, I ran a pair of 3mm steel rods from the unused resistor mounting holes to the top of the battery box like so:

2024-12-05_07-25-19

Initially I had them running parallel, which helped stop the towers from bending but didn't do much to stop them twisting. I revised this to a crossover arrangement which resists bending and twisting forces.

To allow them to cross over without hitting reach other, one is mounted 3mm lower than the other. At the rear, one is clipped to a ball stud screwed straight into the resistor mounting hole, while the other is clipped to a ball nut riding on a grub screw with a 3mm spacer. The clearance for the one with the spacer is quite tight - at full stuff the top of the gearbox is only about 0.5mm from the connector - but it fits without interfering.

The front ends of the rods also attach at different heights. One clips to a ball stud screwed into one of the legacy MSC mounting posts while the other clips to a ball nut atop a 9mm alloy spacer, held by one of those extremely thin-headed screws which goes in via a hole in the battery bay. This is the only hole I had to drill - everything else mounts to existing holes:

I think the mod looks quite tidy and unobtrusive, and it makes a noticeable difference to the sturdiness of the rear shock towers.

Painted Lunch Box #2 (Stable Queen - still looking for a sticker guy) and built some Schumacher front tires for my froggy Neo Fighter. Painting was outside, Inside next to boiler, Outside, Inside next to boiler… 6 coats / 2 cans.

On any new RTR I like to service the shocks, more often than not they either have air in them or the caps are way too tight. In the case of my LT10SW, AE supplied this odd-looking wrench that makes the job much easier.

I took the Slash and the LT10SW for a run today, initially I didn't plan to go rough on the AE truck like I do my Traxxas, but I I figured why not?

The AE truck took all of my jumps, bumps, and Bangalore fine. Nothing broke nor did any screws fall out, also the "Quality Control" sticker survived. It felt like playing the old "Super Off-Road" videogame but with real...well, real "toy" trucks.

On the other hand, the Slash stayed in one piece but the gear mesh loosened up from one of the jumps. I'll give the Slash a nod for being better at keeping crud out with its HCG chassis.

Relearned how to operate my Propeak Sigma II EQ charger Charged up some batteries.

Realised I don't seem to have a charger for my AAs. Ordered a charger.

Hunted around for matching crystals.

Brushed the dust of the Lunchbox chassis and plethora of transmitters.

At first I thought this was a Trailfinder 2, but the transmission makes me question that.  What do we have here?  Great Job btw!

Thank you so much.  :)

It is indeed a TF2 that I bought about a dozen years ago.  I started the build all those years ago but never finished it until now.  I've replaced the leaf springs with links and coil-over shocks.  My other TF2's are on leafs so I wanted go a different route with this one.

Anyway, the "transmission" is really just a dust cover for the spur gear.

AP1GczObrIhvCwnhGPqQSxXUroUeo8ylJk7jeXhd

It's my own design along with the fender wells, battery tray, t-case mount, electrics tray and faux drum brakes and a few other bits.  They were printed on a Bambu Lab P1S printer that I received last month.

AP1GczMhp0_EE92_2FG3uTZJC8SOYFyB0HdYTpCK

That transmission was the very first part I've ever printed.  I was surprised that it was so easy and quick to print.

It looks like it has 4 wheel steering?
