I know it's not a Tamiya, but just finishing prepping this little Kamtec 1300 Stock Car for racing tomorrow night...

Going to be my first club race in more than 35 years! Wish me luck. 😁

Managed to get the final colors on to the M-06 L Volkswagon Type 2 Van.

In order of paint colors, I used:

PS-32 Corsa Gray

PS-1 White

PS-48 Semi Gloss Silver Anodized Aluminum

PS-41 Bright Silver

PS-31 Smoke (top 8 roof windows - only a hint so it's hard to see from the photos)

I kept the two front headlights and two rear taillights clear. Since I'm not going to do the wheels like box art, and simply keep them silver as provided, my next step is to do the entirety of the front and rear bumpers in silver, or metallic silver.

Overall, as of now, I'm quite pleased with the result. All that masking for the silver lines paid off, and the VW logo is very distinctive.

Converted my Blockhead Wild One to M3 turnbuckle/5mm ball steering setup, much more precise and uses the original uprights. Combo of aftermarket turnbuckles and the 5mm ball connector set for F103, also meant I could slam the servo mounts and get the lengths a bit closer by playing with turnbuckle O/A length. Next I would like to shim the front trailing arms and the stub axles, which should get pretty much all remaining 'slop' out of the front end...until the kingpins wear their pivot holes out anyway.

"Local" shop had one of these in stock and we just got our bonus at work, so I did the only reasonable thing and clocked out early.

Got the Fazer, a pair of swing shafts, and sway bars.  JACKPOT, I thought I got it all in one stop.  Got home and tore open the box, put oil in the shocks, front cvs in it, but figured I would hold off on the sway bar until I at least test drove it.  Cut off factory plug only to find out I am out of the esc side of EC3 connectors.  **** it.

Holiday party at work yesterday, brutally hangover today... just enuff focus left for some rc tinkering 🫠

I bought this wheel/tire set since it was unusually cheap (12 dollars), with the idea of playong around with the looks and stance of my Lancia Delta.

I thought the black and chrome colors could potentially look good, matching the front grille. I also remember seeing a few 1:1 Deltas back in the day that had them.

Painting the locknuts sure added some extra realism! 20241214-152857.jpg

Very pleased with the result 🙂 now I can look at it while I veg out on the couch.

I have broken in and fitted the 380ST in the Grasshornet. I also finally fitted the Ampro battery door and axle retainer, so no more fishing string mod here.

The response in the fast little 380ST is impressive. On a 8,4V NiMh it almost feels like a normal silvercan. I have only tested it on the bench, though. Charging a good NiMh now to go out for a test.

Edit: I have now tested it on hard, partially icy snow and it's good fun. A decent upgrade from the normal 380 I ran last year, but not the top end of a silvercan -but also hard to say given the limited grip. I think this will be fun.

Made an order direct from TTP for the first time. Have used his ebay store before, but this is the first direct purchase. Not sure how his freight to Aus is so much cheaper than anyone else’s?

The "Asterion" body of my XV01 has received a small facelift: black window frames, chrome taillight surrounds and a few extra stickers.

This was a simple and straightforward job compared to painting the tiny Unimog. 🙂 Here you can follow what is happening with my Mini-Mog:

Yesterday I added some bits of orange bling to my Snow Scorcher. A few cheap M3 anodized locknuts make a good visual upgrade, while being very much inexpensive. It worked well on my red and black themed Group C chassis build last year, so I thought why not doing the same on other cars.
