Doing some more work on Mrs. Killajb's DT-02.  The Pine Beach Raceway 380 motor arrived and I did a thorough break-in with while discharging 4 half-worn AA batteries destined for the bin anyway.  While I wait for the motor adaptor to arrive, I'll source some yellow CVA's and swap the rear tires for something more suitable for the local areas we normally roam.  Various shim sets also arrived so I can spend what little holiday time we have here getting rid of the excess play in the usual suspect areas.

Super nice and I spiring Grasshopper "Evo". You really inspired me when I was building my Tomahawk in 2021. I copied all your tricks with stickon wheelweights and where to place them. If buiing a DT-02  chassis only kit from Tamico this is something worth a concideration. Or doing the same with a Hornet body.

Good evening!

I started disassembling the weird Konghead I acquired some days ago ..

Sometimes I ask myself if a model must be sold like this:
KH_6X6_05.thumb.jpg.622fdc228968609a4e26613dcf12174e.jpg

The next thing I really like are stripped screw heads:

KH_6X6_06.thumb.jpg.2cb422ac4a43840fb6f834c2c4d0e18d.jpg

I dunno what this was, but it is halfway gone anyway. At least some better shocks as in the kit:

KH_6X6_07.thumb.jpg.a090d07cf4bfae7226837885cdd71b25.jpg

I guess the pinion could look worse:

KH_6X6_10.thumb.jpg.ca1654c4cc9359447c5ee5dcdfeb7e3b.jpg

So do the countergears:

KH_6X6_11.thumb.jpg.719656bfd2da52d6319211ac21bb5f8d.jpg

At least a quite solid base to start from. Not too much grease:

KH_6X6_12.thumb.jpg.0b0d9e12ada6639f5973d66ca222b2bd.jpg

And a bunch of dirty plastic and hardware:

KH_6X6_08.thumb.jpg.76900c989c96a362c161b65c7e3257f2.jpg  KH_6X6_09.thumb.jpg.2360e4fff9122e20fa63de8cd7326297.jpg

Now comes the "fun part" ... cleaning, degreasing, re-treading, regreasing, and re-assembling. And as always ... I don't know where the voyage goes. Konghead wheels and tires? Something different in 1.9"? Tracks? Well I guess I will decide, when I have the base re-assembled.

Merry X-Mas to everyone!

This frankenfruggy got dusted off and some detail painting love as it's too cold to do anything major.  This was some frog I got with a raggedy bug shell that I painted years ago with leftover green krylon from fixing outdoor furniture.  And same said years ago I spent far too much time removing slop and getting it to crabble over terrain scale like, don't even remember what I did, ton of tiny tweaks.  Got a 65 degree day and had half a can of flat black and tinkered some more.  Now it's out of mothballs as I really have nothing but major paint projects waiting for weather ...now may get engine, interior, bumpers yada yada.

Getting close to completing my first ever Tamiya build!

Cheated slightly by using a Killerbody shell. Plan is to paint the correct shell in the summer.

Decent little collection coming along..

Ah yes, I too love a combination of stripped hardware, bushings, cheese pinion, dirt, and  aluminum shocks! A pity that it doesn't have some random off-brand aluminum bits on it too.

Sometimes when I think in bed around 2am (which seems to be when my brain turns on to contemplate things for some reason), I roll through my stockpile of Tamiya parts cataloged in my memory. This morning, it occurred to me, thanks to a chassis tub given to me by @Kowalski86, that I have enough parts to build another Lunch Box, so that's what I did today. As intoxicating the smell of cracking open a new kit is, piecing something together from spares is so satisfying.

I’ve ordered the parts I needed for my M07 build for racing at my local track as they all came back in stock. I’ll pick up after Christmas, but the build can at last begin!

Got a couple cars ready for Dirt Oval racing tomorrow night and started my Hornet EVO build......looking forward to having a car to rip around the yard and long gravel driveway that doesn't have $1000+ sunk into it.

Nice! Is it possible to dye blue parts black? Because I don't like the Super Clod blue parts.

You could always try and get some parts from the recently rereleased Black Edition?

Brush-down dry cleaned a Lunch Box and two Neo Fighters just now. One of the DT03s needs to come apart though, there’s gravel jamming-up the rear suspension again.

Also put a screw into the wall in the basement to free up some floor space. Works really well and will do another since the DT03 has a nice open area behind the front suspension to hang on a beveled wall screw.

Yes. I've done it to some blue Super Clod parts myself.

Unfortunately, actually they don't seem to sell these parts in red or black, only in yellow or blue. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I got the stickers done on this one.  I don't normally do box art, but had to this time.  Took pictures for evudence before I tear it up.  Body is pretty thin, maybe some mesh and shoe goo reinfircement is a good idea.

We were lucky to have this xmas day enhanced by a lot of fresh snow that fell right on time.

I had the right weapon to cope with it!

My gut tells me that plastic would take dye. Can't hurt to try. I scored a black set for just under 50 bucks, but I don't know what they came from, unless some crazy person parted out a chrome edition or they were a vintage option.
