This Willy watched me cut out all those masks earlier today, and demanded I get on with it

And then painting………

Tamiya Brilliant Blue over white, gone with a reverse livery on this one and quite like the look, now just about 100 stickers to apply….

This is more so the last week. My last day of work this year was meant to be the 20th of December, and that would give me the weekend to get some sticker projects sorted. The last job being making and applying graphics for a Sprint Car. Unfortunately I got something in my eye and that put me behind, having to work the weekend to get it finished. At least it turned out well enough I think.

now that I have finished work and Christmas is done, I can focus getting some projects done. One is another round of silly stickers, this is what I have so far, original and modified version, I have 15 planned in total.

plus my Christmas present was a Holiday Buggy, I was hoping for the Evo Hornet, but they aren't available yet in Australia at a decent price. So far have painted the shell metallic blue, silver/chrome to the gearbox and wheels and started assembling. I will add bearings, a brushless motor and better shock absorbers. The aim is to have this done by the end of the weekend so I can work in restoring a Marui Hunter and Galaxy next week.

@yogi-bear that body looks great, what paint did you use as I thought these didn’t like paint as they are not ABS/Styrene?

the blue, I'll find the colour code when I get home, currently holidaying up at the Sunshine Coast, is from Supercheap Auto, one of the smaller Automotive machine paint cans, with a semi-gloss clear coat over the top. I gave it a coat of tamiya grey primer first.

The silver is a metallic chrome, from either Bunnings or Supercheap Auto. I suspect the gearbox will scratch easily. the rims I clear coated in a semi-gloss too, and that really killed the shine.

Hi!

Mocked up one of my all time favourites a Toyota Celica ST185 GT4 onto a RTR XV01T I picked up moons ago. Being a ‘T’ i now learned it is 255mm and needs a part tree ‘F” from a standard XV. This places the front arms further away making it back to standard 257.

This will be a oem+ road car feel build. Although I did consider liveries but I have a parallel build for 2025 which will be slot of livery work so I want a lighter build to feel the flow of momentum.

I cut out the body, bonnet vent and began placing the body in position in relation to the wheels. Still some work to do but it’s a start. The auxiliary lamp covers are generic with sourced scale model decals making up the Sev Marchal logos. I absolutely love the look of this brand. Being both so very Japanese and motorsport. I will clear coat them in order to seal them properly.

The wheels are Desmond Regamasters by Rcracinglegends which have been begun with some base primer.

Well, last night raced dirt oval and won both of my classes against some really solid competition, then today finished up the bulk of the Hornet EVO build....it runs.....

The Hornet was a cool build, just needs paint and finishing.

Came across a Vintage Fox today unexpectedly in an antiques shop on holiday near Birmingham Alabama…

Apart from a bit of paint pealing off it wasn’t in bad condition at all. Couldn’t see the electrics but it did have a Kyosho brushed motor in it. Would be a nice resto project if I had a bigger suitcase.

The beginning of another mock up. This one heats up my brain a bit and will occupy the better half of 2025 I imagine. I’m both excited and intimidated.

With christmas over, I can now do what I want to do!
Work on the cars, do electronics projects, what not! At least, that was the plan....

I'm busy clearing up the Ray-cave as it's as mess from storing stuff while I was busy doing insulation work....
Sorting projects, putting it in boxes and helping my wife clearing up the christmas decorations.

Someday I will have time for my projects...... hopefully... some... day....

Well since my Wild One had a defective chassis tub I knew I had to make some Tamiya heads roll while waiting for replacement parts.  Rob came in for a tune-up and after calling Ron lumplestilskin for a while then assured everyone the first sanding cut is the deepest.  Reutemann is from formula uuuuh and won't participate in their nonsense.  And nobody is exactly sure what to think of the T1000.

I've started the tedious part of the work at the Konghead chassis. Cleaning and degreasing. In Germany we say "A work for those who didn't honour father and mother!"

But isopropyl alcohol and brake cleaner did help a lot. I will not care for most of the screws, since they get replaced. And this chassis will consume a lot of ball bearings.

Something I still haven't figured out is the algorithm when or why some images won't get uploaded. I resized them all to 1024 pixel width, two of them did not work, so I "reduced" them to 1023 pixel width and it worked.

Spent yesterday and today putting my M07 chassis together. Had a couple of worried moments where I thought I’d lost some parts or they hadn’t been included but it turns out that one part (the small shims that go on the end of the axles) had ended up at the bottom of a my bin, and the other parts (the O rings that go on the rear body posts) were still in a bag I hadn’t opened as I hadn’t needed anything else in that bag).

Just got the wheels, body and electronics to do. Electronics will be a bit of a pain, as I’m going brushless so will need to remove some of the plastic around the motor shroud - fortunately, I know a man…

This was yesterday now, but December tamiya junkies meet at Robin Hood Raceway was busy and fun. Only managed a couple of hours between family commitments, but was great fun.

Loads of photos and running videos over on the FB group.

I managed to get a first proper run with Daffy my DF01 based 2wd bitsa build. Still some bugs to iron out, but it was good to drive

Due to lack of time I only ran my 2wd buggies

I snipped off the ESC and Torque Tuned stock bullet connectors (one wiggled loose and burned up the plastic cover), upgraded them and covered ‘em up a little better. Enjoyed the soldering.

Being cheap and in need of some RC10 wheels for my current bench project, I dug into a pile of old parts. What surfaced was two chromed rear wheels with worn-out tires glued to them and two matching front wheels painted black (poorly). I stripped the chrome with oven cleaner and the paint with brake fluid. An hour in a boiling pot of water softened the glue enough to remove the tires. Now I have some wheels ready to go and saved about $30 (granted it took a couple hours, lol).

Bought a vintage, huge, Kyosho Nexus 30, nitro helicopter. Came with a vintage radio and electronics, state of the art 27 years ago

This one has never been flown, never a drop of gas put in, got a hella deal on it. Will need a cleaning, and going through, electrics update, but wow she is beautiful.

Can't wait to get this classic airworthy.

I was nearly finished with my Super Manta Re-Ray tribute build, when I discovered a bad sheet of stickers (MCI). The orange actually started flaking off :(.  I'm sure it'll be made right in the end, so for now here's how it sits. Oh, the black wheels are from the Neo Top Force for a test view as I am currently in the process of painting the re-re set white. I actually think the black wheels look great on this, and white wheels look great on the Neo TF. Go figure!
