I've had a great day today !

A friend of mine rocked up at my work, out of the blue and carrying a box full of parts. Inside is a near complete Stadium Blitzer with some broken and rusty parts, an 8.5t brushless Hobbywing set up and a Futaba 2PL 2.4g radio.

I have to return it once I'm finished but it's great to get another project to sink my box-wrench into. There is so much great Blitzer info on here for the re-build and it needs a new body. He's going to get a heck of a surprise when he gets this one back.

I rebuilt the back end of my TA06 today after a shunt into the boards with no body on. Oops.

Have a standard spare thankfully, but now to order some new fibre reinforced bits for a princely sum of $5.

Good excuse to pick up some other parts to make use of the postage :)

I've just opened up my Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 ESC. Now, I know you've all seen ESC's before, but I'm really quite impressed with this one.

First thing's first, the motor/battery wires are short(er). Unlike a lot of other brands that leave you with a tangled mess in tight chassis, this ESC should make for neater installation.

Have nowhere to put the switch? Don't worry, you can clip it to the side of the ESC. Also provided is a small piece of double sided tape so you can stick the switch down elsewhere on your chassis. The usual screw holes are also present. Versatile.

And although I've not set it up yet, I am very much looking forward to it due to the lack of set up button and no multitude of flashing lights.

In the picture above, to the bottom left of the ESC, are two jumper switches/plugs. Setting up the ESC couldn't be easier. Just put the plugs where you need them on the jumpers, according to the little diagram to the right. Could it be any easier?

I'll soon find out, and I have a feeling I may well be buying more of these.

So for anyone who still runs brushed motors, and this ESC is capable of running 12T, have a mix of Lipo and NiMH battery packs, but want no fuss, no tangle of wires, and really no expense, this may be the ESC for you.

£21.00 delivered from Modelsport. No, I don't work for them! :P

Fiddled a bit more with my Madcap pet project. Put on the Tamtech 4mm adjusters and fitted a brace across the pivot points on the bell cranks

So from this:

It looks a bit neater now, but I don't think I've reduced slop much further, if at all. I think the blame lies with the bell cranks, but I'm not sure if they can be replaced. I've been looking at Top Force items - sadly on the J parts sprue and costing a fortune!

The brace across the top utilizes some TT02 fluorine coated screws (thanks to Qatmix for the idea), two 5mm adjusters and a spare threaded rod left over from when I took the Astute upper arms off and fitted DT03 turnbuckles.

This stops chassis flex, since I do not use the Madcap front end and top brace.

I need to replace the red servo posts with alloy items. Shall I buy them or take them from my Ta03F?

Nice and cheap and impossible to order. I've tried several times to buy one of these from Hobbyking but the site is playing up. It just sends me round in circles, asking me to log in all the time, or timing out. I even tried to just pay directly with Paypal and that timed out too. It's for my friend anyway. I'll just get him a cheap Mtroniks, auto set up jobby. It's his first ESC so this should be more than easy enough for him to grasp for now.

But other than that, I robbed my TA03F of it's alloy servo stays and fitted them to my Madcap. Then said mate came round and we took the cars for bash at our favourite patch of grass. It had been well used since the last time we were there, with some turfed up bumpy parts.

I fitted the blue Core RC receiver into my Mad Fighter earlier in the day. It behaved oddly out in the field. After a knock it wouldn't respond and would just beep a lot, flashing a red light. I'd get it to work again, but I'm not sure what was causing the issue.

On the other hand, My Madcap, fitted with the HK3100 Rx, behaved beautifully. Grip rolling was less of an issue this time as I had given the car more negative camber up front. Also the grass was a little moist as the car seemed more inclined to slide than dig in. Rear camber is neutral, but I might just give it a bit of negative camber just to take the edge off when the car does decide to hook up in the longer grass. When I say longer grass, I'm talking millimeters, as the patch we ride on is cricket pitch short.

My friends' Hornet seemed slower than usual, and was getting through Nicads quite quickly. I think it needs a new pinion, and the worn oval block tyres didn't help on the wet grass either. He really needs some spikes at the back. It drifted nicely though, when cornering under power.

We didn't get through all the packs as it was just too cold in the open field with the wind blowing gales. Called it a day after about an hour or so, but it was good fun.

Took a trip to my LHS which is anything but local, but is all there is around. They mostly deal with flight, but have plenty of car kits and general RC and static goods for sale.

I spent a couple of hours inside, had a good chat, a cuppa tea and lengthy browse. I only went there to get a balance board for my Nvision Lipo since it wouldn't fit my other board.

I ended up buying two reels of masking tape, Tamiya PS1, which I'm sure I've more than enough of, a scalpel or exacto knife, whchever you call it, a copy of RRCi and this little thing...

It 's a Ripmax Speed and Stunt truck. I couldn't resist it. There I was with three other grown men, whizzing this little thing all over the shop, bashing it into everything. It was so much fun, I had to buy one. And for less than £30.00, who can blame me?

When I got it home, I charged it up (took minutes) via USB off the PC, put 4 AA cells in the controller, and then tried it out on the cat. She loved it!

It has a built in Lipo, as far as I know, 2.4Ghz radio, proportional F,B,L,R and two modes of speed control. One is normal, zero to full speed, depending on throttle position, the other is 5 speed selectable, so the car only goes to a speed you set - one of five different speeds. Ideal for kids, young and 39 years old!

I put my Sand Scorcher shell back together, I'm really getting into this model now and I'm looking forward to it being a long term model to fettle and enjoy.

I've also got the L.B running now and I just need to fit the light kit for my girls and everyone's happy!

I did have a little test drive out the front which was nice....
