Yeah, I'm finding both Fusion and the deals at Time Tunnel pretty good, cant complain

Never tried Stella so thought I'd give them a try, hopefully shouldn't take too long to arrive :)

I finished stripping the Hilux Toyota badge today and I fitted the servo cage and servos to my Blazing Blazer.

I put the driver and roof back on the Blazer as well, as there are to many expensive bits lying around at the mo..I've already broken one Blazer roll cage Opps!

I even got to the P.O and posted some parts to other T.C members who would make good use of some bits I had lying around.

My month of not spending on any R.C related items is almost over....so I can pick up my ReRe Scorcher and get it back on the road, can't wait!

More work on the DF03 - this time dampers. I'm not fond of dampers, especially when having to strip and clean used ones.

My DF03 project came with the hop up damper set, which are perfect for the car, because they are just as ugly as the Dark Impact itself. There is just something nicer about older style Hicap dampers, isn't there?

Not being into fashion, I really don't care for bling and having blue anodised parts just because that's the in thing right now. I nearly put some black plastic CVA dampers back on it.

Bling bling dampers ready for cleaning.

Just how dirty can they be?

Even the diaphragms didn't escape

Piston guides ('scuse the focus)

After a bit of a clean. Could still use a little more cleaning.

As far as I know, these are typically Tamiya expensive dampers, and I'm still amazed at how little the previous owner cared about these, or the rest of the car.

I don't think there is much I can do about the wear and tear on these.

Rebuilding using Green Slime.

After filling with oil, leaving the dampers to dispel their air bubbles in a home made damper holding box. Part of the reason for not liking dampers is having to wait for the air bubbles to go. Before I had the box, I had to hold each one and just wait before closing it up and moving on to the next damper. Now, I just put them in the holder and carry on with the others.

The box also contains several yellow CVA dampers and parts.

Since I don't really know what oil was in the dampers to begin with (they were half empty anyway), I put Tamiya 700 at the back and 500 at the front. The oil in them was yellow, so I guess it was Tamiya 400. The front have a two hole piston, the rears a three hole. It's what they came with and I have no optional parts for these particular dampers. I'll see how it goes with the oils I've chosen.

That's as far as I've got so far.

EDIT: Have since discovered that a stock Dark Impact has Tamiya 900 oil in it's dampers. That's a hard oil which only came about when the touring cars really started to take off. The stock Dark Impact must have some really stiff springs to rebound against that oil, so as not to be sluggish.

I just bought the DF03 tuning spring set. I think the rears on my car could be a bit stiffer, and the front a little softer for the piston/oil combo I have on the car at the moment.

Finished the Df03 dampers and fitted them to the chassis. Added some new wheels and tires and front and rear bumpers. The chassis is more or less complete with just the electrics to install and a body to fit.

It might be over damped. With battery and motor installed, I can drop this from 2 feet up and it doesn't bottom out. The front end also has a slightly nose up attitude with the lower wishbones not being parallel to the ground. There's a lot of ground clearance on this model - double that of a DF02. Room for adjustment.

Started on my lunchbox.

Photos to follow but everyone knows what they look like.

Also watched Ken Block drifting a MAN truck around on youtube.

Been pricing up a non Tamiya rock crawler.

Not Tamiya related but...cracked the front crankcase on the Revo a couple years ago. Gave the truck to my son (16 now), purchased the parts and told him to fix it. He tore it down last year and put it together this year...yeah, seems to be a few parts missing, LOL. I found the exploded view online and helped him with some of the assembly but noticed that the front anodized steal support is missing. He's learning, waiting on UPS now, lol.

Starting pulling apart the boomer, I am pleasantly surprised at how clean it is. No broken parts yet or sneaky little cracks that only appear when disassembling. Placed a wanted add for a df-03, surprised with how little response I have had, everyone is holding on to their df-03's tight:-) fingers crossed

Stripped the Frog to the bear bone. Looking good so far, no broken parts. Got my rear dampers on the way. Now need the rear shafts and also ball bearings, so i noticed.
