Jealous of the mancave.

Axeboy: Is that the Hobbyking 60A ESC in your DT02? How does it perform? For less than £10 I decided to buy one the other day but have yet to install it in anything.

Am I right in remembering it has LiPo cutoff? That's pretty handy for a brushed ESC. I'll probably still run it with an alarm as I just don't trust these things!!

Not exactly exciting but spent my lunchtime collecting craft supplies from 'The Range' to make some scale accessories..

Funky foam sheet

Funky felt sheet

craft cord

bead bracelet cord

thin round elastic

some fishing clips that look ideal to make into bungee cord hooks

jewelry clips (tow rope clasps)

Sad eh

For £9 i can make about a load of tow ropes, bungee cords , blankets and foam mats :D

And an hours crafting later I have a couple of tow ropes, two foam sleeping mat rolls and two rolled up sleeping bags. Plus enough materials to do the same at least another two times :D

Baja King arrived today. All looks there ...

One question is the body appears not to have a protective film on... Was this normal or has I been removed..

I will be building it later in the month after my Blitzer beetle

I think its 45a but will check.

I like them, simple enough and do the job. I have 7 or 8 of them but dont use them much. Ive had one fail out of that lot.

That is normal for the Baja King shell. No idea why it doesn't come with overspray film though. Anyone know the answer to that one?

Finally managed to set up the FAV hop up shocks the way they should be... Up front I got the thinnest oil I could find and opened up the pistons a little, the rear got 400cps oil and softer springs I ordered from an online spring shop based on some very rough (and surprisingly good) calculations.

Ït's a terrible picture, but I painted a Tamiya CRX bodyshell for a friend of mine. I chose the legendary Spoon colours and copied the livery from their CRZ and NSX. It both looks great and realistic, while still being very visible on the track. I have drawn some custom decals in Illustrator and will cut those sometime this week :) Really happy with the result so far.

I do like the Spoon livery on Honda cars - that, and the old Castrol Mugen scheme!

Today, I am in the process of stripping down some painted plastic bodyshells, including a Striker upper body. After purchasing 2L of brake fluid, I realized that I used Castrol Super Clean (speaking of Castrol) with better effects, and 4L of that was cheaper than half the brake fluid! An exchange was made, and now the shells are sitting in two plastic lids from a baking pan (after recalling that the baking pan was aluminum - no good with Super Clean!).

So far, so good; I will check on them momentarily... The permanent marker on the other shell began dissolving almost immediately after it was set in the Super Clean, so I think this will succeed. It is hard to tell, with both success and horror stories on the Internet.

However, it made sense to me as I used Super Clean on a nylon piece with some paint on it, and the paint dissolved without harming the plastic underneath it. I look forward to the results.

Unfortunately, cutting tools will have to wait as a broken axle on my bicycle needs my attention first! Ergh...

Was in the Leeds area today so decided to swing by Modelsport to see what the shop is like. I expected it to be like Alladin's cave and spend a good hour in there browsing. How disappointed I was to find it's just counter service with just a couple of glass cabinets on display and nothing really to look at unless you ask! Don't get me wrong, the lad who served me was great but it certainly wasn't what I expected!

Haha I made that trip a few years ago and was equally disappointed by the 'shop'. I guess 95% of their business is mail/internet order though.

Got an hour in the garage after work so I started on the roll cage for the Super Champ rebuild.

I used the roof for a template and the few bits of the original damaged cage.

I've still got plenty to do but I'm happy with the results so far 😀😀😀

Added some bling to my FF01. Had these parts laying around for a long time now, but after reading my Japanese magazines my hands started itching and I had to build it. Now the front of the chassis looks way to stock and needs some cool parts too.

Started my build on the F113 by 3racing and i tell you a new build in 5 years take some getting use to especially screws that come in 3x5 and 3x6. Need to use a micrometer to tell the difference.:-D My eyes need a reset.

Some parts, i think, should be metal not plastic and the instruction a bit better. Now i can see again why Tamiya is still preferred.

Popped my new Reventon Pro 5.5r system into my TA03R-S along with the new Type A slicks and went for a blast. Was sooo much fun, i went extra safe and geared it right up with a 13T pinion and a ratio of around 9.5 and it was very fast indeed. Motor got luke warm and the esc was still cool after a good 30 minute run. Although the brittle plastics took their toll with a front n/s knuckle started to crumple at the steering linkage point :(. But thats what you get with old plastics. But the car ran super smooth and almost silent :) Round 2 tomorrow and try a hardened 15T pinion :)

Took my neo fighter Frog for a ride today. Man it's a lot of fun for a small buck! Goes like stink.

Other reflections; hate the tble-02 esc. How user hostile can a setup be?

Friday (yesterday)

I collected the E-maxx from parcel force after paying customs fees.

Drove down the the coast for a weeks break.

Unpacked the truck, installed two 3s batts.

High speed runs on the sand at low tide.

This thing flys, a lot faster than my other cars.

Broke the front suspension mount, and bent 2 front shocks, after a high speed roll.

Luckily I bought spares too, after reading the web, it seems that 6s lipo flips/ rolls will break parts

Overall I am pleased with the truck, just a shame its not made by tamiya
