I finished assembling the chassis and test-fitted the body. I think I'm going to go with the stock livery, except I'll swap out the blue paint for yellow. The tires are dirty because I took it for a spin around the garage.

Bought another old Tamiya that I should have bought new 20 years ago. Probably over-paid for it, and it might be disappointing, but I'm still sat by the front door waiting eagerly for the postman...

What is it?

Ordered some ps paint for my LaFerrari.

Why is paint so expensive these days, I remember when it was £2.99 a can

I know, used to be £3.99 for a standard colour 8 years ago and £5.99 for a 'special' - nowadays it's £5.50 a regular can and £10.99 for a special!

I'm ordering some today too - has anyone got any experience with the Abisma polycarb sprays? I'm thinking of black, silver and white as 'backing' colours, you get 150ml vs. the 100ml of the Tamiya tins for the same money...

I just used the Absima Orange spray - nice big can (50% ? bigger than Tamiya) and end result was OK - seemed quite wet but perhaps I was just a bit heavy handed, being the first fluoro (ish) colour I've used. Looked good once it was backed with white. I'm sure more opaque colours would be easier to use. Its the orange highlights around the windows and the edge of the fades (bulk of the fade to white is Testors Daytona Yellow..

Fastrax Fast Finish paints are good alternative to Tamiya - bigger cans, they spray finer / drier and good adhesion. Only issue is they are limited retailers (modelsport ?, wheelspin ? Apex ?) and the description isn't great - starburst silver for instance is really a silver flake in clear lacquer, spa silver is their silver paint.

Love seeing shells like that, I've got all the painting skills of someone doing community service...

Thanks Wez, but thats just spray cans, masking tape and some patience - no airbrush in sight ;)

I 'chickened out' using the mustard yellow on the FJ40 shell for the CR-01, so thought I'd make use of it. There was an original Toyota colour not a million miles from it..

The shell is a lot closer to the 1:1 than the photo suggests - camera colour balance is off due to energy saving lights !

I heard there was an RC photo contest, so I took my Lancia Rally out for some shots:

Rally cars made up the theme, so I elected to compare Martini stripes to some of the beautiful colours of autumn, as well as the gorgeous view of the nature near my place :)

The past few days, I have been mulling over this set of decals:

Those FreeFlo decals in particular look like a good size for a rear spoiler...

Thanks for the positive comments guys, I'd love to take a lot of credit for the paint but a lot of what you see is decals - I did cut the individual letters for the tailgate rather than apply the full width decal though :D

So a few pics in more natural light..

On Willy2 chassis..
