Sorry to hear about the esc mr crispy. Hope the matter gets sorted. I can't offer any advice as I've just installed my first ever esc on a car yesterday so it's all completely new too me. You'll get there in the end.

Received my Mtroniks micro ESC for my Kyosho HOR motorcycle today so I just tested it out before fully fitting it.

I had to cut off the Tamiya motor cable plugs and lightly solder the wires to the motor terminals to get it connected. All looked good with nice clean joins, hooked up a good reliable 7.2v nimh, switched it on and immediately got the magic smoke from the ESC! :(

Switched off and pulled it apart ASAP, nothing looked wrong from my end, no shorting of wires or bear wire touching the can. I did notice a discharge of oily resin from the ESC where the battery and motor cables exit the ESC.

Looks like there was a heat build up inside the ESC which melted the resin that waterproofs the unit.

I've since checked all the individual components and they all work fine including the Kyosho motor in another ESC.

I've reconnected this faulty ESC and confirmed it will now allow me to go through the radio calibration setup but no power comes through the motor cables, I've tried 3 different motors just to make sure.

Sooo... I believe the ESC was faulty. I really wish I'd done the test on a spare Tamiya silvercan now so I didn't need to cut the plugs off!

I've contacted the eBay seller explaining the situation and hoping they will be willing to replace the item and I can return the faulty one. Fingers crossed they are decent people :)

What do you guys think? Did I miss anything in the set up?

It's a shame as this ESC is the perfect size for the bike. Flippin bike seems cursed :(

Chris don't worry about it . In my experience Mtronkis (Modelsport ) will warranty it no problem at all . They really are a pleasure to deal with when somthing like this happens .

I need a Clod. I think it might cost me a marriage though...

Good trade.

When I got divorced a Clod Buster was literally part of the settlement...

...To be fair, I did built it for her

And I kept the one with the original 'Bow Tie' grille and the Chevy tailgate...

Installed electronics in my Group C and JL10e today. The Group C R91CP kit included a Sport Tuned motor. I had already set up a JL10e for my neighbor some time ago; this one is for me so we can race in the street together. We both have the exact same electronics and pinion gear, so it should just come down to driving.

If you're wondering what's going on (electronics in a RM01, F104W, Group C, and JL10e in the past two days), I just have several half-complete older projects and I've promised myself to get most of them finished before starting anything new.

Picked up an used Proxxon Mini lathe Friday. Took it apart, cleaned it and put it together. Light restoration work done. Will support me with a very special Tamiya-Project ;-)

Finished the paint and stickers on my TRD86 shell. I still have the light buckets and mirrors to do.

The body posts need to stay this long as I use an integrale shell when driving this car.

I replaced the brushless set up in my Madbull with a Hobbywing quicrun 1060 brushed esc and a sport tuned motor. It's much more fun now I can drive the thing in a straight(ish) line.

Thinking about streamlining the collection as I need the funds so Im deciding what stays and what goes judging by how much I run them :(

Looks like my little Baja Bug project will be first on the list as it's really just sat on the shelf since the summer... and I don't do shelf queens :D

That yellow Porsche looks like a work in progress. What are your plans for it?

It's not finished yet, but basically I bought the body as a spare runner body instead of ruining the boxart black one, but then i realised I didn't want to wreck the original Taisan wheels & chassis either, so I built a new chassis to accommodate the spare body.. as you do.

Played musical motors tonight B)

Took sport tuned out of the DF03 and put it in the 2001 where it belongs, fitted runner body as it will be having an outing tomorrow!

Took the Dynatech 01R out of the 2001 and put it into my TF project buggy.

Fitted Dynatech 02H to my Modified Top Force semi shelfer.

Also fitted lightweight egress wheels to the TF, hybrid spikes are on the way :D

Did a couple of speed runs today

Slash Raptor:

And the Wild One:

I knew the wild one scooted along at a fast pace, but was estimating 60-65 kph!

I can only imagine how fast it would be with the 18 tooth pinion :o

I straighten a Kyosho ATC250 rear axle by hand, with vice grips and pliers and it didn't snap.

That's my butt pucker moment for 2015 over and done with early.

Wow, what are you running in the Wild One to hit that speed!?
