My experiences this weekend mirror yours. I'd got two coats of clear on my Jugg body and noticed some dust on the rim of the bed so decided to sand down the cab, bed and tailgate and spray again. Despite my usual precautions to minimise dust there's loads of it in there now so it looks worse than before :(

I experimented on the tailgate by sanding with 1500, 3000 and 5000 grit, then using Tamiya Fine and Finish polish. This removed the dust and gave a clear reflection but even with the Tamiya super soft cloth I've still got lots of tiny scratches.

I've had this body since the beginning of March and had to wait until May for painting temperatures. Probably only a couple more weekends warm enough left. After I sort this there's the trims to paint which are thinner than the Hilux ones and with a recess by the side. Another chance to screw up!

On the upside I did get two more polycarb bodies painted. The M3 I'd done before but didn't back the white so it was a bit translucent. Fortunately I'd left the plastic coating on the ouside so just had to re-mask the windows and lights. I did more white, silver, then white again. Much happier with this now:

And some cockpit sets painted, masked and sprayed with cans (except between the spokes on the white wheel (brushed those before I remembered to take a pic):

Points if anyone can guess what cars these are for! Clue - the one on the right is done as per box art / the manual specifies. The left one should be quite obvious from the colours!

Left = Subaru , Right = Lancia :)

Had a brief play (yesterday) with the 2 old cars my mate gave me. My test battery wouldn't fit in the Skyline and the receiver was a bit flaky but I did have it running for a minute. I got the HiRider-II driving slowly round the yard but it's only 1WD. But it looks like they'll both live again with a bit of effort.

Had a minor heart attack the satin clear coat I used on the beat shell left a powdery residue on the side panels of the body...solved with a light rub down with s scotch bright pad...windows and driver next e01b5c41614f86ccf62261413448cd90.jpgreally nervous about painting the wheels. Don't know why just given me a mild sense of worry.

Are you airbrushing? I have had that residue using clear coat, I found using 20% cellulose thinners mixed in with the lacquer helped massively. That's using an automotive 1k clear coat.

What have I done today?

Hmm... I've lost my chance of getting 4 clodbuster axles & 8 clod tires on rims for 60,- on a local "Craig's list".

Now I'm a little bit down, but I hope that the new owner is very happy about that catch.

Well since last I posted all 3hrs ago I have been to the track with the Kentuckian know here as Steelo, took my dark impact and 3 tt01's. Silver truck with bling, brushless and Aston Martin. Before my guest arrived I thought it would be smart to run my Dark impact on the skate park.....Duuh, bend parts and screaming drive train.. We shall rebuild and buff out the damage tonight.., all in all a good outing though. It was good to meet you Steelo.

Painted a replacement 996 Turbo shell for my next door neighbor. I made him a black shell some time ago, but he managed to wedge it under something while drifting in his garage. This scratched the entire roof pretty badly. So, he'll soon have a nice one for the shelf and a beater shell for driving. This is the first time I used PS-59 Dark Metallic Blue, and I really like it. The picture is a little overexposed and doesn't do it justice; it's really beautiful in direct sunlight.

Mocked up the Brat and placed all the bits to put it right. Then I will strip it, clean it again, fit the bearings and Silver frame and of course paint the rims gunmetal grey..5d0f1e5c8799499210bd5737f776218e.jpg8ed3698b9fe0e77ff5830cc4862c60ca.jpg4268626a9c45099e94f97413412b2e78.jpg

So here's an interesting question what happens when an Irishman gets bored and has nothing to do but play with his Willy? You dirty minded bunch.....he tears it apart so he can build it stronger faster and more attractive to the other TC'ers. d50b42f51ab4ab615fda52fc3959fe25.jpg

Add a little paint and baamm f373836099865ed19f8e7cd492379e2c.jpgbecb8942adace5ff67f65de96656dd44.jpg8aac91ba7414b5d9bc6251172133dd1b.jpg

Today I was thinking about modding my losi micro raminator into a micro lunchbox(mini 4wd), but I don't know if its morally OK to put a famous shell on a lisi chassis.... ....hm I also have a micro highlift with monster tyres, what shell could that thing use??

Btw: Nice looking Brat!

Fitted a pair of turnbuckle steering rods to the Madcap runner to replace the rods I had, which were too short and could only give me toe out. Dynastorm rods fitted nicely.

Also played about with the Core Code transmitter for the Madcap settings. I don't fiddle with this stuff nearly enough and know very little about it. I readjusted the steering servo endpoints and spent ages tweaking throttle control. In out of the box settings I found that almost half of the throttle range wasn't being fully utilized, with full throttle coming in well before the stick's maximum range. This meant that lifting my thumb off the stick slightly had no affect on the speed of the car. It's now adjusted so that full throttle is at the very end of the stick's throw and everything under is slower, giving better proportional control of the throttle.

It's a shame my thumbs aren't so responsive :D

Today I purchased a tamiya king cab mini 4 WD, I'll put the shell on my losi micro highlift and see if its driveable, if not I'll try to put it on a micro-t....

And found out the humbrol paint is no good. Luckily it's only on the wing

I did wonder about the Humbrol because their cans say suitable for polycarbonate. I would imagine it's perfectly fine on polycarbonate, just not the kind that gets thrashed about at 25mph.
