Same position yes, as the bodyshell made an appearance on the TA03R-S PIAA Porsche 911. Certain basic parts are becoming increasingly difficult to source though, so I'd recommend buying a fixer-upper complete chassis. Doesn't have to be the Short version as such, as the primary difference between the R and R-S is the chassis tub itself and the belt, both can still be found on eBay.

I just had to put an order in for some 730 and 1260 bearings too as I don't have enough for the build.

My TA04S turned up, so I took that to bits and made a list of bits that I want for it... That was fun until I looked at how much it would cost, so to cheer myself up I dug out the old Losi Micro-T and wound the cats up for a while.

I convinced myself that if I where to change out the white tree components on my Bruiser for Black bumpers I better do the whole thing so I will take pictures of the reassembly process.... Total PIA....but I must admit I ordered the black parts after I started the build so I should have known better.. here we go. Dab nab it Nito....

Forgot how much I find this hobby therapeutic for the mind, but I always ache after putting a few hours in on the workbench!!

I cleaned all the plastic parts for my Blitzer again this evening, tooth brush job and hand dried afterwards.

Sad, but true and I bet I'm not the only one ; )

I've realised the shocks are CVA short shocks and a standard bit of kit for this model.

I then bought my 1st parts for it, tyre glue, servo and a steel pinion.

Made a start building my ta02rs chassis.

I wasn't going to hop it up,but soon gave in😖

Received the last bits(tungsten diff balls)from banzai and a good few hop ups from a few members on here.

So as I sat looking at a beautiful Tamiya Bruiser, that is now being rebuilt because I either can't follow directions or it is the single most complicated built I have ever started, restarted and then pondered.

So in a moment of clarity, I have decided to take a few days off from The Bruiser, and in the past 3 hours I've built the unimog chassis. I guess you could say I needed a fun project to let my brain cool while the primer hardened on the Bruiser body. Eventually it will all get done but that's all for today.

The Bruiser is without doubt the most intricate and challenging of the Tamiyas that I've come across to build. It's quite a departure from the regular kits. The bodyshell on my first Bruiser still isn't complete over a year after I started the build! Just decals and wing mirrors to add now.

The chassis on the first one took me a period of two weeks on and off. I'm easily distracted so I needed to concentrate on the Bruiser build, it's not something I could do with the tv on etc, at least first time out. The Mountain Rider build was far quicker.

Don't fret you'll get there;

this is really the last two weeks. I finished wiring up my new cnc machine (that took a lot longer than I was expecting <_< ), and after plugging it in wouldn't talk to the computer. The manual for the controller is fun to read too, as its probably translated badly from Chinese. So much searching later, it seems I need to add in a 24V source, so waiting for that to arrive early next week.

I also managed to go back to a project I'd started over 2 years ago, a 58005 restoration. Painted the body and rims in glossy white, with a test fit on the chassis. Still lots to do, but I'm happy with it so far. A little disturbed though about breaking open the NIP tyres and wheels ( they weren't cheap either!). At least the wife doesn't know what I paid for them!

Lastly, have been on a bit of body collection spree, including a Pantera De Tomaso, VW Sirroco, Toyota Tom's RM01, Mazda RX 7 and from Matman the Mk1 Cortina and Mk2 Ford Bodies from Retro Racing for me to play with.

Currently wires are like spaghetti, but will get tidied up before I start making stuff. There must be well over 50 m of cabling.

A heavenly site!

Desperately trying to sort the steering links on my mod Clod. Carbon tube I ordered earlier in the week is too thin so ordered some larger diameter which I hop will be just the job second time around.

While in the ordering mood I somehow dropped another three parts orders with banzai, which have already been despatched :)

Later I hope to solder the battery connection onto the HK motor combo to check it's functional, and have a bit of time to progress last stages of the Unimog and high lift builds.

Looks like you have been a busy-bear the last few weeks then :P ..

oh, and I almost forgot, I was playing around with a new setup for casting. I'm now using clips to secure the body to a backing board (less leakage and we all like less leakage), with a sander to vibrate the table. It worked well at removing a lot of bubbles

Slowly getting there.

I've got to say these HPI decals are really nice, well printed and the vinyl takes to the body shapes very well. That front windscreen frame decal was cut out and applied as one peice! No way near as awkward as I was expecting.

Looks excellent 👍

Going away now to say to myself 100 times, I do not need a rally car😀

I also found this while I was sorting through my boxes

An original (58100) set of Top Force decals, totally forgot I had them!

Pulled these out of the box too;

Fixed the servo on my monster beetle and gave it a test run. The clicking from the steering has gone but there is a lot of axial slop on the front wheels that needs shimming out.

Also had an hour on my cougar, whilst watching daredevil

Spent some time on my Mad Bull Monster Hornet hybrid, I was pretty impressed with the way this goes and handles now, need to make a wheelie bar as the one I had on the Hornet box doesn't work on the Mad Bull gearbox and I've flipped it quite a few times so the shell is now a bit knackered unfortunately. It was like new this morning! I had to put beadlocks on the back just to get the power down. If the wheelie bar works out I'll try to get a video tomorrow. It looks a bit frankenstein at the moment but if this all works I'll then tidy it up accordingly...

Just need to cut, paint, decal and fit the rear spoiler. Oh and paint those wheels white! I was able to use a few spare red decals to cover the main paint bleeds on the bonnet. It's a pretty good colour match 😉

Looks a lot cleaner now... if you don't look too hard.

I think it's gonna need a full interior 😜
