Pajero looks very cool. I just ordered some new paint for my Pajero the other day, I'm wondering how easy it will be to mask off the window rubbers or whether I should just re do them after the main colour goes down. It's a painful job though!

In my endeavours to make a CC01 which will actually see some abuse (the hard bodies tend to just get looked at and gentle runs around the garden for fear of rolling them!) I've made some progress on the Amarok which was supposed to be white but ended up being very much silver!

This has the GPM steering upgrade, bearings, the Tamiya droop hopup things, solid lower suspension links and a Junfac propshaft. The dampers are cheap Topcad items which look scale but the performance might not be great, so these might get swapped onto my Wrangler which only sees shelf action!

They are indeed. Had them up for sale ages ago but no interest, so I ended up using them! The Amarok body seems to sit slightly too far forward even though I've used the correct posts and holes, so I've got some rubbing going on. Trimmage will occur when I've finished with the stickers!

My son has been driving an on-road touring car in the VRC Pro race game.  He's put in hundreds and hundreds of laps.  His birthday is this month but I've already bought him a car hauler for his SCT and race days.  That's more of a birthday gift than we tend to buy so I can't justify getting him an on-road car as well.  He's saved up about $70 from chores and such, and we expect he'll get about $50 from grandparents for his birthday.  Tower Hobbies has the Raybrig NSX Concept-GT TT-02 kit on the "weekly" sale list for $120 and there's a $15 coupon that would bring the price down to $105 shipped.  So I told him that if he wanted to buy that car we have all the bits except receiver to build and run it.  He can't decide.  He's been saving up to buy the bits for a 4WD SCT and plans to ask Santa for the kit.  This price is just too good to pass up though so I went ahead and bought the TT-02 last night.  I didn't tell him.  I'm just going to keep it in the box and if he decides that he wants to buy it, even after it's come off sale, I'm going to surprise him with the fact that it's already "in stock" at home.  I have no doubt that he'll want it once his birthday money is in hand.  When he eventually does ask for it, I'll do up a build thread of him building it.

That is a great fatherly act. Nice one!

I weighed some stuff (: Original part is 121 grams, replacement part is 132. Will this break the car? Time will tell I guess ;)

Thanks! What do you mean, masking off the window rubbers? I painted the main body colors first, and when that was fully cured I masked the outside of the window rubbers and hand-painted them in.

This car will see some action. I've owned a High Lift I was in constant fear of ruining, so I'm deliberately not too fussy with this one so I won't be afraid to damage it.

Anyway, in keeping with the topic title:

Raced the TRF419 and the TRF102 today. Pro-tip: Don't race two classes on the same day. You think your brain is prepared but it's not. Especially two cars that require completely different driving style from one-another. Mended the TRF419 at the track from a nasty board hit last week, and tried playing with the flex screws a bit. It was hot enough for 32 degrees tires to work well on our carpet track, and I could get away with only juicing them every other heat. (Normally it's 28 degree tires with 100% juicing every heat)

Sorry; should have been clearer. I meant I'm going to re-colour my Pajero in silver, it's currently green:

It's going to be silver because I think it'll look less toy-like. I'm just not sure whether to try masking all the window rubbers or just spray over and re-do. It's also getting beadlock rims too as they'll look more realistic.

Late post. Got a couple of my impulse buys out yesterday. Swapped the wheels from an M03 on to an M04 and offered up the body that came with the M03. Thought I might have a runner...but no body mounts!!!

Got fed up, ran the chassis round the house for a bit and then realised that I should have spent the time finishing the TL01 chassis....

Yesterday I gave up drawing up a nice layout for my track and just cut the grass in what I thought could be a manageable pattern. The lanes are about 160 cm wide at the narrowest so I might have to widen them a bit. Next step is to spray the track with weed killer and bring in some dirt to build small jumps etc.
This is a pretty useless attempt at a panorama shot with my iphone.

Then I drove this green chap around the track and got stuck in the grass about a million times (hence the weed killer.) After being used to the understeer galore of the super hotshot, the egress felt like distilled surgical focus.

I like that you're teaching him the value of things, Working & saving to get what you want Not just getting them. Good job Dad!

Painted a few more details on the Pajero today. No better way to unwind after a busy day than basking in the sweet vapors of terpentine and Tamiya acrylics.

decals? We don't need no stinkin' decals! I figured the grill logo was better painted in than stickered on

(Yes, my work mat has a picture of a horse on it. In my defense, it's a very manly horse)

This was mostly work done over the weekend but...

Completed the assembly of the back axles on my War Rig build.  I was very pleased that they rotate smoothly at the extremes of the suspension travel, and that the axles pivoted freely as well.

I also spent several hours making the centre drive shaft, which is a lump of 19mm diameter steel hollowed out to 8mm, then machined to accept the UJ yokes at both ends. Again I was very pleased that it fitted ok, as there is no length adjustment on the shaft. (Centre section only, the outer parts of the yoke are stock traxxas items). I don't think I have to worry about twisting off this part of the transmission.

Had the urge recently to add some lights to my buggy's and I knew what I was looking for with the tt02b and am quite happy with the result.

Put some true-to-scale plates on my M-05 Fiat 500:

If you check them against the DVLA database, you'll find they are correct for a Fiat 500, in red. :)

I'm listening to Tears for Fears' "The Hurting". Good Lord, how this album didn't get more traction in the States here when I was kid is mind boggling since it was the early days of MTV. Pale Shelter is incredible song, ambient, synth pop. It was only when I was stationed overseas that I discovered Keane. One of my favorite bands.

I'm a Yank that has forever adored Brit Pop. XTC, Siouxsie, The Clash, PIL, Bronski Beat, English Beat, Travis. The Smiths...my favorite band of all time. I was introduced to "Strangeways Here We Come" in 1989 in Atlanta, GA. My wife sent me Morrissey's "You are the Quarry" as a birthday gift to me in Iraq in 2004. SO many memories.

Drove my vintage Wild One the other day for the first time...It was absolutely glorious

What I always do when applying license plates to cars is to stick the plate on a bit of scrap lexan, and then stick that to the shell. I don't know about UK plates, but EU plates are made out of quite thick metal (possibly because we crash into everything while parking ;) ) and the lexan backing makes it look a bit more 3D.

Started building the TL-01 components into new MF-01 chassis parts - hit a snag early on - rear 'box idelr gear runs on 24mm shaft int he TL-01, 21mm in the MF-01 (so part ordered , and already despatched ).

Got as much of the front end done as I can-  need to centre the servo before adding the servo aver, steering links - so chassis tub is 80% done, then to add arms, hubs, shocks etc.

Wheels are built - 11 spoke white M chassis wheels with medium foams and rally block tyres - should suite the Skoda shell which is already painted and decalled ready :D

After months of inactivity on the Tamiya front, I finally did some today!

New ESC, wheels and chrome all round on my daughters Mystery Machine.

I do plan to paint the window rubbers on and the inside of the shell black, but I'm in no rush....
