Ooh, I just bought the full set of them - didn't realise you had to paint them!

You don't have to for 10 of them. Just stick the decals on if that's all you feel they need. Painted detail makes them stand out more.

5 of them are clear for you to paint your own scheme.

The green one I just added to my showroom was blue.

Popped into my LHS and the Tamiya rep was in there. I could barely contain my excitement as he handed me the new catalogue. I literally picked out half their order of new cars, I wonder if they'd let me build a couple for display? Anyway...

They may be a bit more expensive than the online stores, even though they're a major chain, but they seem to have full control over the ordering process for their shop, so if I can convince them to get more Tamiyas in, the better.

I advised against more XB stuff, and asked for hop-ups for commonly raced cars to be available. I also got them to order in:

TT-01D Nissan Skyline R32

M-03M Fiat 500

CR-01 Jeep Wrangler

CR-01 Unimog (these are now half the price of the Wrangler for some reason)

DF-03 MS

DB-01 Baldre

Re-re Boomerang

Hi-Lift Tundra

Chrome Clod

Good selection of kits?

The Tamiya guy's laptop also crashed in the middle of the ordering process, so I fixed it for him. He wouldn't let me have the new catalogue though...only had one copy...

Drove lots today. 10 packs in both the Fox and Blazing Star again. No photos or videos sorry, wife was busy.

Then I got stuck into version 3 of my Dark Impact interior. Milled out another one by hand with the dremel from MDF. This time I used a Super Champ head. Not much room in the Dark Impact. Full story in my showroom. This is only a rough pull to see if it clears all the mechanicals and still fits. Lots of work to go before I'll be 100% happy with it.

I installed a mambamax 5700 to my new built DF03MS, just the body to finish pics will be online by next weekend. She is so fast, if anyone is thinking of a new brushless system don't think just get a mambamax!

Got the parts to finish the BB steering mod in my Pajero, and some styrene to try to make a roof rack. Time to go start makin' stuff...

Missed racing again, for the fourth week in a row now. Lost my bleedin transmitter! My spare doesn't like the receiver in the Mini for some reason (makes the steering servo stutter), and in any case, I found my batteries weren't charged.

Still, as I'd got all the r/c kit out I tried to make a solar powered car I'd bought from the Natural History Museum last week. That doesn't work.

I tried to cut out the repro decals for the Clod - they're useless paper rubbish, not vinyl as promised. Don't buy from Tamiya-Biz!!!

Put the new driveshafts into the Manta Ray, only to find that I'm missing the gearbox output cup as well...

Then cleaned up the LunchBox, discovered all the oil has leaked from the front suspension. Took that apart, and of course I made the old oil fountain when refilling it - ruined a brand new 20 t-shirt.

I really want to finish up the DF-03, but I'm scare if I touch it it will collapse into a million bits...

Took some photos of my progress on the Dark Impact/DF03 MS interior.

Starting to look the part I think.

Then I raked the track nice and level... And followed that by put 5 packs through the Fox and rutted it all up again. B)

Been trawling eBay for some of the harder to find parts for my many ongoing projects.

So, what have you done today?

Been out for a little bash....

...with a brushless LunchBox...

Took two 3000mAH NiMH packs fine, very fun with wheelies at just about any speed. Had lots of people stop and ask me about it, including a random arabian looking guy who offered me 300 to build one for him...

Put the LiPo in it, and it's uncontrollable...wheelies result in landing on the roof, and with enough grip it will do standing backflips. Far too unsteady on the move though, tyres ballooned up so much one was ripped off the rim. It hit a tiny bump and must have rolled 20-25 times end over end, resulting in two broken bodyclips and the battery disconnecting itself. It really needs the extra weight of the NiMH packs to balance it. I might weight the nose as well to control the wheelies better.

Seemed fine until it was about 150 yards away, and one of the rear wheels came off, and rolled away at 35mph, narrowly missing a kid on a scooter, and ending up in the river. Of course as the tyre is glued on, it floats. Away. Down the river.

I eventually found it about 200 yards downstream caught in some reeds. One very wet leg later its recovered, and I have to walk the mile or so home with soggy jeans and one soggy shoe.

I think brushless might be a little too fast for the LunchBox...

Did a little cleaning on my new avante. Brushed out all the dust & dirt. Still checking out if there is anything needed for it..

I think brushless might be a little too fast for the LunchBox...

I really think it might be you know. Broke three more of the body clips today. I'm gettting through the chrome parts trees like there's no tomorrow. Anyone got any tips for keeping the clips from taking all the impact? I'm thinking perhaps a block of foam on the rear upper deck to cushion against the body..?

Also took my fully-hopped up DF-03 out for its first run. What an amazing car. My previous "best" buggy was a DF-01 Manta Ray, so this is just such a change. The way it soaks up bumps is amazing, absolutely no bump steer, and the diffs work perfectly for fast turns on gravel or grass. My only disappointment is that I think it could handle way more than the 9T EZRun system that's in it now, so I'm going to have to hunt about for a faster one...

Also realised that 1600mAH NiCads don't really work in a brushless car. It literally lasted 30 seconds before the low voltage cut-off came in. Need some more LiPos!

Had a great weekend of R/C action - took the brushless Lunchbox and Avante 2001 for a bash on Saturday, then began the Pajero build. Sunday I met up with some of the R/C Extreme guys, and we went to abandoned R/C track behind a pub in a suburb of Southampton.

It was apparently owned by Chris Wilkinson of Mardave fame, but numbers started to drop a few years ago, then when thieves broke into the lock-up and stole the timing equipment he shut it down. It's a real shame, as it's a great track with a good mix of straights and corners. The surface was a little green, but with a bit more use it would be back to its best in no time.

As we were on our way to the in-laws, I brought the missus along, and made her have a go. She usually tries to think that my R/C habit doesn't exist, but after she got the hang of it, she loved the little Mini. I think I have enough spare parts to make her one, so might do that next week for her.
