I turned this:

which ended up doing this:

Now I just need to find a complete wheel and tire to use as a spare wheel. I stole one of the front wheels for the last shot.

Oh and install the driver's head.  You drive your F1 car once in public without a head and everyone has to comment....

Finally finished my HCT, pearl white box art them, left the rear spoiler aluminium finish and spaced it up like I've seen others do, really happy with the result, a couple iPhone pics below

Amazing job mtbkym. Looks like it's finished to a really high standard. I've never thought about this kit before but it looks so cool and fun. I think I want one now. :D

Removed the front and rear stabilisers from my TL01 rally car project, ready to be sent off to a fellow TCer.

My TL01 is going to be converted to LA-spec, so they were no good to me anymore.

Funny, isn't it, how a model which you set out to use as a basher using cheap parts suddenly becomes a collectors piece with the rarity of items? What I mean is, I built my TL01 with some very nice parts including the illusive lightweight chassis set, unversal driveshafts and lightweight carbon gear shafts, all parts which are now very hard to find! The sole purpose, as the name suggests, was for this to be a rally beater. Now I'm considering converting it to road tyres and an easier life, given the desirable parts installed, because if I break / lose something it's going to be difficult to replace again. I'm also making a carbon prop shaft for it, using carbon rod, as the genuine Tamiya hop-up is now commanding a ridiculous price (if you can find one) for something which is so rudimentary! I estimate it will take me around 10 minutes to make one myself, which will be identical. I should start a business...

And so he said "Let there be a carbon propshaft" and so it was done.

The original steel heavyweight (never going to fail this part...)

Carbon rod, some action with the dremel and a drill later -

Woops, made 2. I don't have access to a pillar drill so unfortunately the holes for the drive pins aren't perpendicular to the shaft. I've test fitted both propshafts and they work as expected however, with the 4 1150 bearings holding everything together and true. It's hardly something you'd pay money for, so I'll send the spare one to a fellow TC'er who I know is also building a TL01 - then it's up to them whether they use it or not!

I'm using my one however - looks smart!

What did you use for the shafts, I've heard people use fishing rod, did you buy it special or have it lying around?

I have the hop up in my Tl01 chassis from a crazy super hopped up one I did years ago and sold, never got around to installing the carbon shafts to the gearbox. Or I had 2 I don't remember.  Thinking it might look good on the chassis I have if I make the drive shaft.

Just search eBay for 5mm carbon tube. You want the thicker walled stuff I imagine, for a bit more strength. It's so cheap and can so easily be cut to length. If you use a dremel tool it's even easier (although you will turn around 1mm of it into dust using a cut-off disc!) and if you don't get a straight cut you can press the shaft against the flat of the cutting disc to sand it to a perfect cut. Easy peasy, even I can do it!

On my Grasshopper I swapped out the "Neewer" el cheapo Chinese special ESC for an Arrma Mega ESC that I had in my parts box.  This ESC gives me brakes and a Dean's connector.

So many fab posts and pictures in the last 24 hours.

Really good stuff.

I can only offer up a steering knuckle swap on the Blitzer whilst watching Jurassic Park with my 9 year old!

No photos required...

I was out in the front testing the 'hoppers new ESC when my son's friend's mom came by to pick him up.  The firend's older brother (5th grader) was with her and he saw me driving and was amazed.  I turned over the controller and he proceeded to drive it up and down the street, across the yards and basically just go bonkers.  I love the look on a kids face the first time they drive an R/C.  What better first time drive than a Grasshopper?  #amiright

Spent most of the evening after work sifting through the loft in the shed, pulled down a load more R/C stuff, spares, toy grade cars, games consoles ect... never realised I had so much! Still a mountain to climb though......kind of wish now that I didn't have so much stuff, would make moving it a whole lot easier!

I will add some pictures at some point of where my collection(s) stand at, I guess in a way its a good time to photograph everything once its all together in one place at the same time. May be a few months off yet doing that mind.

I started to declutter the house over the weekend, with a view to us moving.  Filled six 100-litre packing boxes.  That was just LEGO...

We have rented a 40 foot storage container and its rapidly filling up! The plan at the moment though is to empty the house then go through it all, pretty sure there are doubles, maybe more of some things and its just collecting dust when somebody else could be enjoying them. I love owning things, but its stupid if they aren't getting used!
