On a cheeky weekend family break at Camber Sands... and what with the sandy beach and the dunes it would've been rude not to take a car or two 😉 I even managed to get my wife interested in RC for 2 mins!

My old TL01B Baja Bug handled it well, it deserves the thorough strip down and cleaning it'll be getting when we're back home.

Spring is here and it's warming up! Took my daughter to the beach, and while she was busy eating sand, I mean making sand castles with Mum, I gave my lunchbox a run. Haven't been to the beach in aaaages!

I took the Blitzer and my 9 year old out into the street and we gave it a blast, great fun.

I then started to look at some bling hop ups for her Lunchbox, very tempting to get some shiny on it 😬

Like many here today and yesterday, @Fuijo and myself went to the beach, and brought along some toys.

We had a blast! We mostly ran his Sand Scorcher and Fighting Buggy, but Froggy (my DT03) and his Hornet provided some great entertainment too. Well, right up until the point where Froggy got a bit too enthusiastic and ran himself a bit too close to the shoreline. I tore the DT03 down today, and it's back in running order. It seems most of the salt water went in the motor, but rinsing it down and cleaning it with a bit of alcohol solved it.

Also, I may need my own Scorcher at some point in the near future. I'm amazed at how well his ran, and how scale it looked rolling across the sands.

the motor?

??

No I meant how  does that motor handle? Does your gearbox handle it so far?

Posted

ah sorry ;)

no - gearbox crunches but the metal diff is on its way

yeah its good - pretty nippy acceleration.

doesn't seem to impact on the battery life too much tbh

see my thread on temps etc

Took the Maverick Scout out for a proper test drive, down along the riverside trails.

Although the Scout's performance is much improved over stock,it still needs more weight in the wheels, and I'm not over impressed with the tires.

It did take a dip into the river. Fortunately, all the electrics survived.

I then fell into the river too. So far,all my major systems seem to be working too...

One of these days I'll grow up,and stop being a child in a mans body...but not for a long time to come😈

Not much time this weekend between running kids back and forth to different things, but managed to do some masking this morning, the GF01 Landcruiser shell is a PITA to mask up,

image.jpeg

box art is blue with the roof in white and the front bumper bar and rear fenders black, I really couldn't be bothered to mask all that out, so ended up painting it one colour and can always paint on the outside later if necessary, bit of a cop out but I built the chassis at xmas so it has been sat there for a while awaiting paint!!

The colour, is AutoAir Porn Star Pink!!

A fair bit to do yet with it depending how far I go, this is supposed to be a runner so don't want to go too mental.

cheers

Ordered some WR02 bits from eBay.

Couple of issues with that,

1. I don't have a WR02

2. The Lunchbox body I bought ages ago won't be a direct fit

3. I don't have any more "monster" wheels and tyres after selling the Amarok items on TC

I can butcher my WR01 and nick one of the gearboxes. The TL01 suspension from my recent TL01LA conversion will make up the majority of other bits. I'll have to run without a wheelie bar and hope I don't flip it over end. I have no electrics. Lunchbox body has no window glass.

But...this will be a whole new model which I can gather parts for in small doses - no massive kit box arriving on the doorstep = no frowning looks from the Mrs. "oh this wheelie model? Yes I've had it ages, what do you mean you've never seen it before? Silly you!"

This is the Tamiya obsession unfortunately.

Dremel is the fastest, but it's probably not enough (and also I love my wrangler and I could not cut).

Switch for original spring set could raise the body... So I don't have any idea for the moment...
