Didn't realise that they would look that convincing with the rebranded stickers! I'm well impressed :)

I know I'm probably a little late here but I've seen a few mentions of these. This is the unbranded, unofficial Technigold reissue right?

I did some searching but haven't been able to find them anywhere.. any help?

Very nice looking HotShot there NWarty, needs to have the vintage radio shown as your avatar though.

Funny you say that Chris. I just got a new battery holder for my Magnum Jr. today since the other cracked badly last month.

I so nearly got that one but settled for the Pajero.

Maybe it will be next.

I needed the chassis as a ebayer barebones is spraying me up a vw amarok body. His work is awesome highly recommended. I've two pajero sports and the Touareg already. Wanted the amarok for a while. Personally think it's a good looking motor. Closest I will get to the real thing ha ha

Oh poop. I swear I've read somewhere around that someone had done a run of Technigold clones that were pretty faithful to the original... <_<

Decided to rebuild my "M-04Hell" project from way-back-when... and found I'd fitted a TA03 Ball Diff but somehow misplaced the shorter drive cups somewhere over the years. :(

It's ok though, I built up a fresh gear diff to take its place until I can get replacements, fitted the M-Special Acto motor and 3Racing carbon reinforcement stuff I'd been saving, and built up a custom set of long axle, lightweight universals for it and my M06 too. I'd even degreased the TA03 ball diff and rebuilt it using the left over clear grease from my MIP diff build. Dolphin smooth! All 'n all not a bad afternoon, I'd say. :) Now where did I put that NIB body set?

Would love to see this build you are referencing and I wonder if I have the shorter drive cups you are talking about. I am trying to sort out my spares box and thought I had the full parts of the Manta Ray ball diff I had here, but at the end, missing that blasted tightening screw referenced as simply SB8 or even worse BOLT. What a laugh, that makes it near impossible to get a spare from Tamiya themselves if you have no real part number. so, ANYONE got a spare BOLT out there??? I don't feel that buying another $25 Manta Ray ball diff set to cannibalize it for ONE bolt would justify my needs.

There is a rebuild kit 9405821 << this maybe Aus part number ??? . As this kit has the bolt in it , with balls & washers etc .

Maybe see if you can find that ? as it gives you a rebuild kit as spear + bolt .  BUT some rebuild kits DON'T give you the bolt .

Oh VAGABOND, would love to sort you out the cups if you can ID them in a photo of spare bits or get me dimensions on the item.

Chris

Part ID for the cups is 53217 and, amazingly, they're still available for sale, so is that rebuild kit if you're still looking for that screw, both via eBay. I'm gonna be ordering the cups if they're still around in a few weeks (I'm kinda broke again thanks to the Bigwig re-re :D ) and I might get myself a rebuild kit too while I'm at it. I dropped the diff while I was rebuilding it and spent a good 30-40 minutes looking for one of those spring discs.

This was the project from [gasp] 2006! oh lordy... 11 years ago? I'm feeling old again. :(

This is how it looks now.

THAT is a cool project, I have projects around here that old to do. B) Thanks to you, I have spent MORE money on the M project set. I bought the rebuild kit which I thought I had and it seems I just have the balls and discs. Ironically, if you look at that part number on TamiyaUSA, they have photoshoped some areas plain white like they are omiiting parts that might have been included a long time ago.
Now off to work on them.

I gave my cc01 Pajero rolling chassis a run round the house today.

I am very pleased with it but the turning circle is horrible its so huge.

The steering is fine but is there a way to increase the steering throw so it

will tighten up the turns.

I hear what you say about the difference between the Optima and the monster beetle I built them the other way around (MB first) and it was my first kyosho RC and I must say it has to be my favourite build to date(and that's a lot of builds over a lot of years:)) and the only thing that comes close to it is the Tamiya SRB's!

Oh man, I wish I had done them in that order as well. I had to down more than one pint of bitter to suppress my disappointment. I've only built 6 kits so far, but the Optima is in a league of its own together with the Egress. I haven't got the foggiest as to what I'd do with a SRB once built so I'm not sure I'll ever buy one, but I can imagine it's a delightful build experience.

@mongoose1983 thanks! And I wholeheartedly agree, it brings me joy just to look at them :)

Had a nice chat with Joanne @Fusion-Hobbies and put in an order for some more bits and pieces. Thank you, Joanne!

Unfortunately, none of my cars are able to run just now - stripping my WW2 and M03 I found they were held together with the wrong (and I mean WRONG) screws and my Hornet lost a nut and bolt the last time out. It will be a little while but I'll hopefully have them roadworthy for the Spring.

I came very close to buying a Racing Fighter just so I could build something from start to finish but I'm holding out for the Subaru WRX 24hr.

And I need to get my TL01 Bowler project over the line....

The only problem I had with the Optima build was (and it was my own airhead fault) I didn't cotton on to the numbering system in relation to the instructions until the very last bag dooh!!!:unsure: but that didn't take away the enjoyment of the build and quality of the buggy!
