Fixed something I hadn't noticed last week. Spot the difference (not the lights or angle of the shot!)

The correct tyres.....

Ran for an hour trying a new suspension setup on all three sets of wheels (buggy street, buggy mini pin, truck off road). Wildly oversteery! More things to try but the rear arb needed to come off:

More running on the loose today with truck and buggy tyres and tarmac on the street tyres all revealed a wildly over steering balance! This being the case the rear arb is utterly superfluous and needed to come off again, but thought front arb might be wor

Front went back on. Wrote a load more about it on the build thread too.

I spent about an hour masking up this beasty-

And then found that I had every colour you could think of in my shed aside from red!!! I should have checked first but never mind, I'll grab some in the week. At Least the hard part is done.

After that I got stuck into my TL01 rally project. It's a bit of a budget build using parts that I already had including the shell (or whats left of it) that I used in last years TT01 cup. It will probably get a new shell at some point, I had thought about the Rally Legends Lancia S4 that I finished the other day but this car is going to be driven hard so I'm not sure I want to ruin that shell just yet.

It's almost standard really with a set of bearings, Oil shocks and carbon strut braces. The longer shocks and rally block tyres give it quite a bit more ground clearance than a regular TL01 so it should work nicely off road.

Last night I had a few bitters and listened to Iggy whilst rebuilding the super hotshot. I failed to spot any mistakes in the steering set up, so I guess the steering rods (or whatcha call it) are supposed to touch the dampers ever so slightly?

I swapped the gt-tuned for a Reedy Radon 17t and crossed my fingers it wouldn't strip the gears immediately.

So today I charged a couple of packs and let it rip, and boy was there a difference. The understeer galore seems to be countered by the increase in power, so now it's actually a highly enjoyable ride. That, or I had done something wrong the first time around which I unknowingly corrected last night. Either way, now I can actually see myself using it during the summer.

On another note, it took my nephews exactly one pack to completely strip the gears in the monster beetle. With a 17t brushed motor it was continuous giggles while it lasted though :) So now I'm off to MIP to get a replacement diff.

Took the family out to a nice, smooth parking lot at one of the local high schools.  We put the TA-07, TT-02 and MF-01X through their paces running cones and laughing.  The MF-01X seems to pull to the left under hard acceleration on pavement.  I wonder if it's due to the looser diffs in it compared to the other two?  Regardless, I was impressed at how well the Dirt Tuned hung with the 21.5T motors in the other two cars.  I wish Tamiya USA would ship my daughters TT-02 so all 4 of us can run simultaneously.

How do you like the Walkera UAV?

The Walkera is a great craft.

I haven't got the FPV googles yet, but this thing is way beyond my skills past the first rates.

Very powerful!

Yesterday actually. Traded back my dark impact that i built last year for my cousins TA06 that he coulsnt handle. Then tallied up the damage as the Df03 was now running bend universals bent tie rods bauld tires on all four corners and thr tops of the front and rear shock towers were suffering from serious road rash. Over $100 in parts ordered. Re set up his Ta06 with his electronics....idiot proof stuck hos scion shell and wheels back on. Boxed it up and texted him the parts bill. Kid with too much spare money living with his folks at 24. Annoying. Ordered my clodbuster body for my new to me clod im picking up next weekend. And finished painting up my original wheeler accidentally thumb printed a few areas so if I choose to be OCD a repaint maybe needed.

I've had a half finished Mad Fighter for a couple of years that I only bought because it was cheap (£31, NIB!) I finished it off but didn't do anything special, no paint except for the driver and even that just a basic scheme. Listed it for sale and it went pretty quick. Buyer is in Australia so postage almost as much as what I paid for the car.

Also sold my NIB Stadium Thunder via Facebook to a chap in Spain as I decided I wasn't going to do anything with it. Exchange rate was in my favour when I bought it, and now in my favour when I sold it, every cloud and all that!

One of my personal justifications for spending so much on RC stuff is that anything I don't use will at least retain value, if not increase, so it's always nice to let stuff go and not feel like it was a waste of money :)

Finally, changed my profile pic to my Kuhfarben one that I use on FB, Instagram etc. The system here is set to a max upload of 1kb (presumably to effectively disable it), but my monochrome, compressed PNG file sneaks under that at a scant 882 bytes :D

I'm trying to get an Ares Crossfire flying (no goggles either).  Turns out the day before I opened the box Clean Flight pushed an update that "broke" 2 of the motors on the Crossfire.  Motors #1 and #2 just won't spin.  :o  Ares is working on a workaround until Clean Flight can figure out what they broke in the latest update.  It's beyond me why they force you to use the most recent version!  There are like 10 previous versions listed on the drop down menu.  Either let me pick any one I want or don't give me the option to see them.

UAVs sure are a different breed of R/C vs. the cars I love.

Wow. They turned out really nice. Is that how yellow it came from Shapeways or did you give it a shot of paint?

Raw from Shapeways. Had them printed in yellow a la 1:1 Stratos.

Looking REAL Good there and I think you didn't have to paint them that yellow either, my 2 cents worth.

I sure wish I could live with my parent, but I don't think my wife is ready for that dynamic.  I think that is the same workbench from Harbor Freight tools that I gave my mom for her birthday last year, I built it for her in her garage and she uses it and enjoys it a lot, can't say I got to put a Tamiya car together on it, but there is some time I will spend with her this summer that I could fiddle with something there. I like the OD Green and if you want to hide the fingerprint should OCD come to you, well, you could go for a woodlands camo job on it???

Woodlands Camo, spoken like a true Texan.... we're all about the mossy oak down here in Florida. I personally am more a digital urban camo guy.

That looks a million times better! If I had to clutch at straws i would say need the rim a bit smaller diameter and bigger sidewall tyres like in the 70's, but still... those Stratos bodies just needed a period correct wheel and those are spotty dog! B)

Agreed.  Taller sidewall tires would look period correct.  And yes, the HPI kit really needs the Campagnolo wheels, the coffin-spoke shape is distinctive.

Started the build on my tt-02 Ford Zack speed Capri I brought last Feb. I am surprised on how quick it went together a couple of hours and it's nearly finished. It has a cheap feel about it compared to the tt-01 but I only want it to display shells so I ain't bothered. I'm gonna start of with a 1971 Pontiac firebird shell . I brought a couple of years ago.
