Welcome back, Jim_GT-R! Somehow the FJ40 looks right with those wheels and tires. Nice work!

Today, the fire sale continued. I am hanging out with some of the boxes I made, while browsing TamiyaClub:

I spent much of yesterday making listings, and today was spent getting the items packed up for a visit to the post office for quotes. I am glad to finally have the courage to let go of some of my models and parts; however I seem to have little luck moving them on... I am still optimistic, though! At the very least, I enjoy making the boxes :P

So today I drove from my home town to Ormond beach Fl. About a 3 and a half hour drive, on my way I stopped and picked up my first Clod buster on receiving the truck I exclaimed my disappointment at the cracked tires and broken body. I also mentioned the nice one that sold last night on ebay for 170. He felt bad and knocked another $50 off the price. fortunately I anticipated the bad tires and body and had ordered replacements already. home tomorrow night for rebuild.

Built a Lunchy and found out how poor the gear boxes are

Poor? Lunchbox's gearboxes are Tamiya's ultimate masterpiece, aren't they.

Oh wow, That looks great :) Does it mount up perfectly to the MB mounts or did you have to modify ? #Excellent

I used the slightly taller front mount. And used 10mm spacers on the side mounts. But the rear mount was a must as the body just shakes all over the place otherwise, lol.

Thanks

James.

I hardly ever hear of clod tyres dry rotting apart from in the US, I have a kyosho USA-1 though that has cracked all four severely.

I have spare clod and kyosho tyres, but even if I gifted them to you, the postage alone to the States would be more than a new set from tower/omni/amain etc.

Painted the wheels black today, might add a silver / white rim to them later. And took it for a gentle drive round the garden ( has to be gentle with a 2S lipo, LRP Quantum Competition ESC and a Reedy KR 10x2 motor ) , surprising how well it gets over obstacles slowly with the locked rear diff :) Def gonna add some spot lights to the front as its a little bare atm. And will temp paint the inside of the body black as I hate seeing the white through the windows. A cockpit set of some type will be a must in the future.

Today, I sold my WR-02 and brand-new parts for a Wild Willy 2 body.

It is a start for paring down my collection and raising funds for life-related things.

Took my dt-03t out for a bash, had a great time pulling wheelies and tearing around for all of five minutes only to have the esc go into low voltage mode and stop the fun. Guess thats what happens when you assume that your lipos have enough charge in them.

It's like comparing a Mud Cruncher BMX to a Pro Class lol and arguing it's merits for sinking quicker in a canal.

Decals all applied to the ORV chassis Land Cruiser FJ40. Also added some painted touches too. Just need to buy some scale accessories to add to the exterior now. :)

Thanks

YOU KNOW WHAT???? THAT LOOKS GREAT JUST LIKE THAT< I might take that idea and roll with it, but will use "VINTAGE RED" on my paint and keep the gold wheels ala Hot Shot!!!! VERY COOL

I know what you mean, I need to pare down considerably and it doesn't seem to move very fast off the posts for sale here on TC, I can't figure that out, I thought all the Tamiya nuts were collected in one can here on this site.:P

Other than a little lifted in the rear, I like the stance on this version of the FJ40 vs the CR version. I know it has something to do with the wheels and tires, but still looks BETTER to me on this ORV chassis. I wonder if magnetic mounts would work well in there and on the sides???

I loved the wheels in gold, but that is my opinion.

The problem might be that we found the site where all the European Tamiya nuts congregate - time to look for the North American one ;) Though mentioning a collection of Tamiya nuts made me think of:

50-pcs-M2-Chrome-Standard-Nut-for-Tamiya

Hope you had a great birthday, Chris!

Well, that is a nice collection of nuts you got there. Thanks, but BDay went alright, would have only been better if I had gone shopping for Tamiya, but there is always tomorrow. You are correct, we need to find the meeting place of all the North American Tamiya Nuts.

We're starting an m chassis class at my local track so I started my car yesterday. It's only mocked up at the mo but it's off to a good start.

A massive thumbs up to Keith at Kamtec, I popped in yesterday to try out some shells, I settled on using the Bmw Mini on the MO3L chassis. Keith made me one there and then, awesome service!!!

No fair! My mates and I have been waiting since last November for him to make me us some shells!

Which shells? He has a Monster Mini in the pipeline, he also showed me the mould he is making for the standard classic mini. I told him once those two are up and running he is going to be quite busy!

I have an old MK1 Golf shell here from Kamtech ages ago, It is for sale, but sadly I am in the USA, so shipping might be an issue for some. Oh, it is UNPAINTED as most of my things are, but I did cut the body out.

We are waiting on some F1 shells that are also reportedly in the pipeline according to my mate. Seems to be quite a long pipe!

Good to know there will be a UK source of classic Mini shells soon. That is another car I'd like in my fleet one day.

I think the mould is from the one with the moulded grille, they look the same but Tamiya did some with and some without.

I can vouch for them - I used one of their shells for my Astute, and may be looking at another one of their products later.

That same Astute will now have a new owner! I spent today disassembling, cleaning, and packing it up, handing it over to the post office before it sets off across the pond.
